From her early days as a legendary Batcave DJ, through her
work with Marc Almond, Anni Hogan is one of the true geniuses
of the alternative scene. A composer, songwriter, arranger,
producer, promoter and DJ, she helped to shape the sound of

debut MCD by Armon Kuilu is a funereal musical journey,

use in the farms and households. This place was called
Ättestupa. Dealing with an old era of Sweden,

Dark Ambient, this time more melodic than before, and

the fall of the Western Roman empire in A.D. 476 and
the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Europe was ravaged
by plagues and superstition. Greek was largely forgotten,
and with it much of the learned texts of antiquity.
'A Chronicle of the Plague' is a musical tale of the
terror of 1349, which depopulated entire villages and
decimated Europe's human population; the disease was
not understood at the time, and therefore it was assumed
to have been the wrathful punishment from the Judaeo-Christian

master of feedback studies, working with looped scenarios

leading force behind proto-metal-group Zeni Geva and
the dark-industrial project Absolut Null Punkt. John
Wiese creates fragile but very erruptive lo-fi noise
rumblings with an almost poetic touch. He has a musical
past in the group Bastard Noise. Needless to say, both
artists combine the best of both worlds in this crunching

"Psilocybe
Necrophila" refers to a psychoactive mushroom that
grows on decomposing flesh. Although recorded mostly
in 2007, parallel to last year's acclaimed "Half
Born in Half Light", it is quite a different trip.
The basis of this work was Niko Skorpio's old cassette
tape collection from the 1980's. Containing mostly heavy
metal demos and live bootlegs, the dozens of KMs of
obsolete tape were sacrificed on the altar of creation.
Tape was deconstructed, cut, mangled, eaten and torn
apart by a number of malfunctioning cassette players.
These emerging mutations were captured, processed and
reconstructed, over and over until a new form began
to take shape. Carefully chosen and prepared additional
ingredients were then introduced to this primal tissue
in order to impregnate it with a new kind of energy.

Back
in 1988 Arbeit Group released obscure industrial-noise
release by a project called Trait. The A-side of the
tape included several different arrangements for inspiration
in battle. The B-side included several of those arrangements
combined together for temporary unified action. 45 minutes
of the most primitive analogue destruction, leaving
no place for easy listening or relaxing moments. Coarse
sounds of tape loops, manipulation and electronics make
this into difficult industrial-noise. Trait is one of
the most vicious works of Eric Lunde (Boy
Dirt Car). The material has been transferred from
the original master tapes by the artist himself, leaving
everything 100% as is. The artwork is faithful to the
original release, replicating the it as accurately as
possible. |

PVLSE - 'Sadalsuud' CD (Some

For this album, Mathias Josefson collaborated with
colleagues from the Royal University Of Arts, Stockholm,
who provided him with various sound sources. "Sadalsuud"
refers to a star of the same name in the constellation
of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase
meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless
the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical
and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound
is quite reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound,
Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark
Moljebka Pvlse feel. Digipak, Finnish import. |

on this CD tear through your speaker cones and then
drill into your brain. These sounds are constantly
moving, panning, jumping and changing at a rapid pace.
There is very little “down time” for the
duration of the hour long CD. Fans of brutal harsh

Split CD between two well-respected Southern California
noise mongers. Bastard Noise create some engaging,
carefully-arranged noise tracks that made good use
of both low-end rumble and high-end screeching, often
at the same time. Spastic Colon do two long tracks
that toss around and spew out unrecognizable samples
into a droning stew of noise. Fantastic stuff. Packaged
in a foldout, embossed cardboard sleeve. Features
