Actuary / Bastard Noise / VinylLP ACTUARY / BASTARD NOISE - 'Skeletal Uncertainty' 12" (Love Earth Music)

Powerhouse split release between the Los Angeles based noise/grind collective Actuary and noise/power violence pioneers Bastard Noise. Actuary bring two brutal, earth shaking tracks to the A-side of this release, using synths, bass, oscillators and other electronics to paint dark, ambient and harsh soundscapes. Bastard Noise (Wood, Wellman, Gribenas) bring up the B-side of this release with dark synth drones, ear shearing and crunchy oscillator sounds, layered with screams of anguish and pain, they dedicate their side to the late Rick Gribenas and their dear friend and collaborator Henry Barnes.   Der Blutharsch / Deutsch Nepal DER BLUTHARSCH & DEUTSCH NEPAL - 'Apöcalyptic Climäx 2' CD (WKN / Eternal Pride Productions)

Reissue of the 1999 collaboration of the leading martial / industrial / ambient formations Der Blutharsch & Deutsch Nepal. The state of despair and hopelessness is the main theme of the music. Death floating in the uncertainty, death as the basic obsession standing behind all your thoughts and feelings - the monotonous, cold language and fixed scenes. Albin Julius & Lina Baby Doll stand here for the chroniclers of Europe, its dramatic historical way which gave rise to the bloody outbreaks and mystical spiritual revelations - war as the phenomenon of human nature which is constantly testing itself for strength. Apocalyptic despair is the theme of the whole album, which was released as a limited edition 10'' in 1999, and which is now available on CD in a digipak.

Mania MANIA - 'Armed To The Teeth' CD (Troniks / PACrec)

Mania is Texan Keith Brewer (Taint, Sonic Sadist etc). Mania seems to be almost wholly focused on distilling violence, warfare, murder, and, more than anything else, the brutal power of firearms into blasts of twisted, ultraviolent Power Electronics. The sound isn't all that far removed from Taint, but on "Armed To The Teeth", Brewer lays a 35 minute track of scorching distortion, clanging metal percussion, harsh vocals that are treated with an overload of psychedelic effects and screeching, punishing waves of feedback that is then cut with interludes of recordings captured from weapons training presentations, shootings, and firing ranges. It's a weird mix of sounds, but if you've got a rotten tooth for this kind of grating speaker perversion, Mania brings it really harsh. File this next to TEF, The Rita, MSBR, Cherry Point, Macronympha, etc. Card sleeve.

Skullflower SKULLFLOWER - 'Fucked On A Pile Of Corpses' CD (Cold Spring CSR151CD)

The most remorseless, brutal Skullflower ever! Alternating between granular lo-fi primitive rock and granular lo-fi primitive Power Electronics, this taut disc is a chain mail glove of hate to any lazy minds who've tainted the air with describing Skullflower as 'psychedelic'. But that's not to say this is an all out total assault. There are also moments of tender acoustic balladry, its just that they don't exist. The remorseless brutal sound is primitive, but as detailed and rich as a blood soaked medieval canvas, somewhere betwixt The Rita and Clandestine Blaze, but more brutal! Long live the New Flesh! Kether is in Malkuth, Malkuth is in Kether, but in a different way...

Zilverhill ZILVERHILL - 'Latent-Active-Descent' CD (Adeptsound / Blind Shouter)

These new Zilverhill recordings are informed by both the art of August Natterer (Specifically ‘Axle of the World, with Rabbit’ and the “uncertainty of good fortune” depicted therein) and Lewis Carroll’s ‘Looking Glass’ (Nobody/Somebody). Nixon’s portentous voice and actions are intuitively fractured, reappraised and manipulated to form the spine of the pieces; the desolation of drunkenness and schizophrenia, cold, sarcasm, and distant / past / fleeting recollections provide the flesh. Thus the next idiom in the Zilverhill discourse is borne. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak. The first 250 copies of which come with a hand-numbered postcard.
