FRANS DE WAARD - 'Vijf Profielen' CD (Alluvial Recordings)
In November 2005, Frans de Waard (Beequeen) spent a week recording and composing on location in the small Dutch town of Vlissingen. A Marine shipyard is located in the centre of the town, but has closed due to regeneration of the area. As part of an exhibition '[Mijn] Domein', Frans De Waard was asked to reflect on this transition. He recorded the remaining activities in the building, where so called 'profiles' are made for use in shipbuilding. In this musical piece things move from hectic and busy (in the first profile) to emptiness (in the fifth profile), although it's one piece. Using mainly recordings made on site of elevators, metal cutting and room ambience, this piece is a strong work of field recordings with minor electronic processing.

MERZBOW - 'Somei' CD (Low Impedance Records)
Masami Akita is really one of those people that need no introduction. ‘Somei’ is a 55-minute trip into rhythmic hell, sure to please devoted Merzbow followers as well as bring new members to the ongoing cult of noise that he has built throughout the last 20+ years. Featuring live drums that wouldn’t sound out of place in a grindcore or thrash-jazz album, as well as the obligatory full-on sonic assault, this is Merzbow at his finest and heaviest. Digipak. Greek import.

NICK CASTRO & THE YOUNG ELDERS - 'Come Into Our House' CD (Strange Attractors Audio House)
Gracefully immersing 60's/70's UK acid balladry with Middle eastern traditional music and communal jams, Castro succeeds in reaching otherworldly vistas and ocean-spanning folk transcendence. The Young Elders is a truly stellar cast of musicians who played in folk and avantrock ensembles like Current 93 (Joolie Wood), In Gowan Ring (B'Eirth), Cul De Sac and Damo Suzuki's Network. A mixture of folk ballads, psychedelic folk rock, Middle eastern traditional music and Neofolk. The result being astonishing, challenging and utterly psychedelic. A modern Acid Folk masterpiece! Beautifully presented in a 6-panel digipak with gold print.
SICKNESS - 'I Have Become The Disease That Made Me' CD (Ground Fault Recordings)
One of the most brutal CDs to exist in the last decade. Sickness (aka Chris Goudreau of Omei, V.D.) has been around for about 10 years. The sounds on this CD tear through your speaker cones and then drill into your brain. These sounds are constantly moving, panning, jumping and changing at a rapid pace. There is very little “down time” for the duration of the hour long CD. Fans of brutal harsh noise will not be disappointed. Series III ('loud') in the Ground Fault series.
