KAAOS IN ECCENTRIS / LIDDIKOATIGHT & LEIF ELGGREN - 'No-One Takes One Too Free / Trapezoid' 7" (Some Place Else)
Kaaos in Eccentris - on this session Mockingwyrd, Ovro, Niko Skorpio and Ibrahim Terzic - create an oddly trance-inducing, almost groovy piece that limps forward powered by the combination of hypnotic bass and crackling rhythms. Liddikoatight is a new Japanese band with Kouhei Matsunaga among others. Leif Elggren, from Sweden, has worked with sound and performance art since 1980 and has a long list of releases, books and live-performances under his belt. For this record, Liddikoatight and Leif Elggren collaborated via telepathy. Mix of the results form the track Trapezoid. Ltd x 500 copies with gatefold sleeve.

NIKO SKORPIO - 'Delta Amoeba' MCD (Some Place Else)
"A review I was reading described this as 'sick-hop' and that tag seems to fit. This is not trip-hop or pop music... but it is a relative. Delta Amoeba has the sonic experimentation and aesthetic of an underground noise album but somehow channels recent 'electronica' without compromise. Imagine if trip-hop star Tricky gave up the reefer, moved to Finland, and got depressed and lost his mind... and you'll be on the right path." (Black Box Radio). 3 tracks, slimline jewelcase.

NIKO SKORPIO - 'Escape From Heaven' CD (Some Place Else)
Composed between 2000-2005, the musick could be described as 'industrial', mostly because it pays homage to the early Industrial groups such as Throbbing Gristle, Coil or Psychic TV by being a wide-ranged beast of experimentation including some nice deep dark ambient soundscapes. Escape from Heaven also carries a loose storyline that can be interpreted in occult, mythological, social and personal levels. Basically the album is a Manifesto of personal Liberation and a declaration of war against all forces of boredom and stagnation.

NIKO SKORPIO - 'Half Born In Half Light' CD (Some Place Else)
"Half Born in Half Light" is based on the foundations of psychedelic ambient soundscapes and darkly majestic bass drone, over which tribal rhythms and magickal vocal invocations build grotesque alien monoliths, whose angles mock the euclidean mathematics of conventional composition. Niko Skorpio is not restricted to one particular genre, but draws on many sources. This makes the music colourful and diverse, yet it remains coherent and has the artists unique fingerprints all over (this time literally in the cover as well). Standard PVC sleeve with 12-page booklet.
NIKO SKORPIO - 'Psilocybe Necrophila' CD (Some Place Else)
"Psilocybe Necrophila" refers to a psychoactive mushroom that grows on decomposing flesh. Although recorded mostly in 2007, parallel to last year's acclaimed "Half Born in Half Light", it is quite a different trip. The basis of this work was Niko Skorpio's old cassette tape collection from the 1980's. Containing mostly heavy metal demos and live bootlegs, the dozens of KMs of obsolete tape were sacrificed on the altar of creation. Tape was deconstructed, cut, mangled, eaten and torn apart by a number of malfunctioning cassette players. These emerging mutations were captured, processed and reconstructed, over and over until a new form began to take shape. Carefully chosen and prepared additional ingredients were then introduced to this primal tissue in order to impregnate it with a new kind of energy. Ltd x 418 hand-numbered copies in a 6-panel A5 sleeve.

OVRO - 'Mosaick the Serpent / Vipera Aurea' CD (Some Place Else)
This album consists of two distinct parts, each independent yet linked to each other. Originally intended as two companion EPs, they support and compliment each other and form a new whole, a third being that contains both its makers and in itself is something more. These two EPs, Mosaick and Vipera are twins - independent yet entwined like the snakes of a caduceus. Vipera Aurea is "coagula" to Mosaick the Serpent's "solve". Calm yet intense, vocal-flavoured Dark Ambient mindscapes in the distinct Ovrian style. Features contributions from Massimo (Black Sun Productions), NIko Skorpio and Mockingwyrd. Standard PVC slip.

REPTILJAN - 'The Hellbender Suite' CD (Some Place Else)
Reptiljan combines the blast-beats of grindcore and the broken rhythms of drill'n'bass / breakcore, samples in everything from 1980s heavy metal to modern hip-hop and lets in a good dose of abrasive noise and distortion. Reptiljan is a manic burst of noise, hectic rhythms and splintered guitars, making the listener squirm, laugh uncontrollably and see lizards on the walls. Reptiljan is a mutant radiating energy, related in spirit to artists like Napalm Death, Venetian Snares, Kid606, Painkiller (John Zorn, Bill Laswell, Mick Harris), Beherit, who are breaking the different boundaries of music. Reptiljan is a project by Niko Skorpio.

REPTILJAN / IBRAHIM TERZIC - 'Pangrenade / Yuck Brij' 7" (Some Place Else)
Reptiljan is Niko Skorpio in his most energetic to date, creating sparkling electronica wherein everything from noise to breaks and glitch to extreme metal meet and explode. On this 7", 'Pangrenade' looks for the point where grindcore and noise become one through violent digital treatments. On the flipside, Ibrahim Terzic examines the beauty within the ugly. 'Yuck Brij' shows Terzic pushing his unique style a few steps further with mind-piercing screeches, manifold rhythms and mutating melodies. Ltd x 300 copies.
