Powerhouse split release between the Los Angeles based noise/grind collective Actuary and noise/power violence pioneers Bastard Noise. Actuary bring two brutal, earth shaking tracks to the A-side of this release, using synths, bass, oscillators and other electronics to paint dark, ambient and harsh soundscapes. Bastard Noise (Wood, Wellman, Gribenas) bring up the B-side of this release with dark synth drones, ear shearing and crunchy oscillator sounds, layered with screams of anguish and pain, they dedicate their side to the late Rick Gribenas and their dear friend and collaborator Henry Barnes. Stunning smokey grey vinyl in a thick gatefold cover, with artwork by Kevin Fetus.

AMBER ASYLUM - 'Bitter River' CD (Profound Lore Records)
Reflecting back towards the earlier era of the act in which mastermind Kris Force manifested, 'Bitter River' is an unearthing of the magic of such classic Amber Asylum observations as 'Natural Philosophy Of Love' and 'Songs Of Sex & Death', updating the immaculate vibe with Amber Asylum's current carnation. Now featuring co-writer Leila Abdul-Rauf (Saros), along with cello player Jackie Perez-Gratz (Giant Squid, Grayceon, Asunder), dominating low-end frequencies courtesy of bass player Eric Wood (Bastard Noise), flute player Sigrid Sheie (Hammers Of Misfortune), drummer Chiyo Nukaga (Graves At Sea, Noothgrush) and also featuring a guest narration by Jarboe (ex-Swans), it is through each member's respective lent talent that brings forth the illustrious presence emanating from 'Bitter River'. Digipak.
BASTARD NOISE with SIKHARA - 'Tukano Khalkha' CD (GLK / Radon)
In December 2003, Sikhara came together with Bastard Noise (Wood / Wiese / Nelson line-up) for a studio session in Valencia, California. The two groups each created the groundwork for a track, which the other played over the top of, for a sort of duality in the composition. BN contributed a classic example of their "Caveman Electronics", combined with laptop manipulations. Sikhara leant a sense of identity to the tracks with a series of vocal collages, invoking a story to accompany the harsh sound beds of BN. Surgically mixed by sonic architect Kamilsky. A masterpiece of Harsh Noise!

BLACK CROW KING - 'To Pay The Debt Of Nature' CD (Bad God Music)
The bastard offspring of extreme Doom, Death Industrial, Black Metal and Dark Ambient. Think along the lines of Khanate meets Gnaw Their Tongues with some harsh electronics and black atmospherics thrown in for good measure. A soul-snuffing dirgeful paean to Crows, Nature, Death and Misanthropy. Blackened doom at its best...and ugliest. "...if you're a brave soul and seeking a paradigm shift in your perceptions of just how harrowing a musical recording can be... then Black Crow King is pretty much your last stop before entering the realm of pure, undiluted hell-noise. Wear a flak jacket, make out your will and say a prayer to whatever made up deity might comfort you."

KK NULL / JOHN WIESE - 'Mondo Paradoxa' CD (Auf Abwegen)
Constructed over the period of two years via mail collaboration this is a great and forceful collaboration between two artists that each have made a name for themselves with their unique approach to making sound. KK NULL is a master of feedback studies, working with looped scenarios to create dense and vital sound units. He is also the leading force behind proto-metal-group Zeni Geva and the dark-industrial project Absolut Null Punkt. John Wiese creates fragile but very erruptive lo-fi noise rumblings with an almost poetic touch. He has a musical past in the group Bastard Noise. Needless to say, both artists combine the best of both worlds in this crunching release! Comes in beautiful full cover digipak, designed by Government Alpha, with typesetting by John Wiese.

SCOTT HULL - 'Audiofilm 2' 3" CD (Crucial Blast)
Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) has been gradually revealing another side of his musical persona over the past few years; an obsession with cinematic soundscaping and dark evocative film scores, mutant electronic textures and pitch-black isolationism. On this second Audiofilm 3" CD, Scott creates a much more frantic and energetic soundscape, this one alive with minimal bass-shuddering pulses and tone manipulations, layered swarms of insectile electronic chitter, swells of shadowy ambience, brain-melting plasma blasts, and vast tectonic drones. A brief but amazing dose of abstract dark ambient/noise that will appeal to fans of Bastard Noise, Astro, and freaked-out 70's sci-fi synth soundtracks. Ltd x 1000 copies in a mini gatefold sleeve with artwork from Seldon Hunt.
Fourth issue of Freak Animal's S.I. magazine. In English and featuring interviews with some of the best Industrial / Power Electronics / Noise artists on the scene today: TenHornedBeast, Bastard Noise, Sickness, Minamata, Koufar, Brandkommando and Raymond Dijkstra, - plus interviews with the following labels: NEdS, Trash Ritual and Impulse Stetoskopy. Also contains a reviews section. 52-pages, A5, B&W, offset printed with full colour cover.

THE BASTARD NOISE / THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE - 'The Red List' CD (20 Buck Spin)
A split album between two titans of the North American underground! “The Red List” marks a huge turning point for US noise legends Bastard Noise. The harsh noise and power electronics they are well known and revered for here is mixed into a foundation of brutal modern hardcore with progressive tendencies, recalling their seminal past ties with Man Is The Bastard. The Endless Blockade's contribute a 14+ minute modern power-violence epic, alongside two remix tracks from the "Primitive" sessions; the first remix by Noah Creshevsky, the second a brutal harsh noise blast by Canadian audial assaulter The Rita. A sick offering!
Despite their different musical styles, (Glitch, IDM, Dark Ambient, Neoclassical, Power Noise etc) these artists turn out to have a lot in common - all united by an experiment, an attempt to break through the defined borders of direction. Convergence (a strong coming together) and its many uses in language, is the inspiration of this collection. Feat: Andrey Kiritchenko, Brain Fork, Brompton's Cocktail, Fizzarum, Hladna, Noises Of Russia, Notchnoi Prospekt, PalSecam, Porch Nap, Spies Boys, Theodor Bastard, Vishudha Kali and Volga - plus a bonus track from S.P.U.L.
