Boy Dirt Car BOY DIRT CAR - 'Spoken Answer To A Silent Question' CD (Aftermusic)

(2007) The Milwaukee Noise ensemble Boy Dirt Car issues its first new recordings since 1988. Many of you will know the name from their appearances on RRRecords. "... I keep thinking to recognize the old Boy Dirt Car, but there is also strong memories of Impact Test [BDC member Darren Brown]. It's not easy to pin this down, but rock drone would come close I think. Slow, peaceful organ loops, heavy bass and siren like sounds, make this balancing on the fine line of ambient industrial and 'real' industrial, although this comes nowhere close to the real noise. Hard to imagine that eight (!) people play on this work. It's both retro sounding as well as new, this can be a true example for everybody who love their lo-fi noise / drone / rock music of the younger generation" [FDW]. Digipak.

Burning Star Core BURNING STAR CORE - 'Let's Play Wild Like Wildcats Do' CD (Hospital Productions / RRRecords)

(2005) Full-length CD from Spencer Yeh’s raging Burning Star Core project. The first of the two lengthy tracks is reminiscent of Faust / Conrad Outside The Dream Syndicate, augmented with a brass section and a thick tar of distortion. The second track reminds of Cale’s early Sun Blindness sessions. Psych / Noise / Experimental / Drone / whatever from the legendary Cincinnati act. The cover art features a strategically degraded still from Jean Rollin’s “La Vampire Nue”. Ltd x 1000. Recommended.

John Duncan JOHN DUNCAN - 'John See Soundtracks' CD (RRRecords)

(1996) CD including all soundtracks from the 'John See Soundtracks' LP (an adult video series directed by John Duncan, produced and released in Japan by Kuki Inc., Tokyo) and, as a bonus, the 24-minute soundtrack from 'Move Forward'. From noise to conceptual installations, shortwave-radio to environmental recordings, John Duncan has been one of the most consistently confrontational, powerful, and compelling masters of experimentation of the last 20 years. Highly recommended!

Merzbow MERZBOW & EMIL BEAULIEAU - 'Merzbow Loves Emil Beaulieau' CD (Pure / RRRecords)

Composed using two BEAULIEAU pieces as source material, MASAMI AKITA harks back to his days of music concrete. A mood of extreme tension is masterfully created by combining unpredictable volume bursts of overwhelming harshness with moments of uneasy calm. On the RRR Pure imprint with the usual hand-made and uniquely printed covers.

Merzbow MERZBOW - 'Batztoutai With Material Gadgets' 2 x CD (RRRecords)

4th (?) pressing of this double disc, originally released in a plastic box in 1993. Classic analogue noise from THE master of Japanese Noise. Subtitled "De-Composed Works 1985-86", this is a remixed version of an earlier release of these recordings, with a second disc of cut-ups from various records. Very similar to early period (79-85) Merzbow. This edition comes in the regular RRR stickered sleeve with cut & paste artwork.

Pain Jerk PAIN JERK - 'Trashware' CD (RRRecords / Pure)

2nd edition of this 1995 album. Pain Jerk (Kohei Gomi) has been one of Japan's most lethal figures in the harsh noise underground throughout the 1990's, and this 4-track, hour-long exercise in extreme electronic blast cut-up and constantly shifting, dynamic textures is one of his all-time finest works. A hyperspeed collage of spastic feedback, detailed distortion, and seizure-inducing rhythms. Absolutely essential for all acolytes of the Japanese noise movement and fans of fellow psychedelic junk-destruction units Incapacitants, Monde Bruits and Merzbow. On the RRR Pure imprint with cut & paste artwork in a PVC sleeve.

Total TOTAL - 'Glassy Warhead' CD (RRRecords / Pure)

2nd edition of this crucial 1995 artifact from Total, another killer project from Matthew Bower (Skullflower, Hototogisu, Sunroof!). This full length sports four looong tracks of sky rupturing freeform guitar noise and chunky ear-shredding amp feedback that swirl together into thick, churning, blackened drones, dreamy hums and harsh noise storms. This definitely ranks among Bower's more brutal jams, with much of the album sounding like a gang of massively distorted electric guitars battling mutant vacuum cleaners in a brutal, cathartic mass of crushing jet-engine roar. Awesome seminal guitar / feedback noise that shakes buildings. Features Philip Best (Whitehouse) on violin for one track. On the RRR Pure imprint with cut & paste artwork in a PVC sleeve.

Travis Ryan / DBATC TRAVIS RYAN / DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS - 'Split' CD (Chrome Peeler)

Split release from two US acts: Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation, 5/5/2000) and Death By A Thousand Cuts. Travis Ryan's four tracks open the disc with an edgy, paranoid ambience that mixes environmental buzzes and electronic hum with blurry theremin melodies and hushed buzzsaw tones, evoking the faint but discernible hum of electricity you feel when standing at the edge of an urban landscape in the middle of the night. Death By A Thousand Cut's nightmarish free electronic designs are conjured from noxious bass sinewaves and cloudy keyboard drones, curling upwards out of metal-on-metal carnage and blasts of laser-beam effects-pedal violence, and the music becomes strangely beautiful, especially with the cosmic Troum-meets-Bastard Noise insectoid frequencies of final track "Approach Of The Black Claw". Ltd x 300 copies in cut & paste artwork (similar to RRRecords' Pure Series).

Violent Onsen Geisha VIOLENT ONSEN GEISHA - 'The Midnight Gambler' CD (Pure / RRRecords)

This is the cult 1996 full length of crazed psychedelic noise collage from Japan's Violent Onsen Geisha (aka Masaya Nakahara). The ‘music’ ranges from super surreal sound events to brutal feedback shriek, a never-ending stream of epileptic noise seizures and ultra spastic tape-splicing insanity that is sort of like Boredom's Yamatsuka Eye screaming over Negativland cassettes that have been left by the radiator for way too long. On the RRR Pure imprint with cut & paste artwork in a PVC sleeve.
