EONIC - 'Secret Land' CD (Zhelezobeton)
Secret land lost in an unknown dimension... Like ancient ruins this place hides the traces of stories, which are told in this new album by the St. Petersburg project Eonic. This is their 6th release and it easily combines different stylistic approaches, making its own way to the listener's heart. Ethno-gothic in vein of Dead Can Dance and Arcana is layered over tout electronic rhythms a la Delerium and Enigma and spiced by pleasant psychedelic arrangements. Musicians don't hesitate to step on the territory of pop-ambient and even new-age, and it just adds more lightness and airiness to their energetic music. A firm and masterful work. Ltd x 333 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.

KAZUYA ISHIGAMI - 'Trash, Rubbish, Poor Works' CD (Neus-318)
A collection of 10 unreleased works (2004-2006) from the Osaka musician. "The music of Ishigami can best be described as a computer version of electro-acoustic music, true to the original form of Musique Concrete. Collage like, bouncing up and down, back and forth, jumping, but sometimes also with longer sustaining blocks of sound. All of which dwell heavily in the world of ones and zeros. I am not sure but it seems there is not an analogue machine in sight" (Vital Weekly). Released in a plastic snap case.
LAW - 'Our Life Through Your Death' CD (Triumvirate)
LAW, the creative vehicle in which Mitchell Altum employs his experimental endeavours, has a niche fusion, in terms of technique, between Noise Ambient and Power Electronics - both of which usually sit on opposite sides of the fence, having it's own set of rules to play out. ‘Our Life…” has an open-ended but "governed" approach, whereby the already established rules of Noise Ambient and Power Electronics are reversed, meshed and re-constructed through the use of a regimentally structured, but eclectic mode of assembly.

MELANCHOHOLICS - 'A Single Act Of Carelessness' CD (Multi National Disaster Records / Deafborn)
Building on the experimentations from their debut CD (with a mix of field-recordings, guitars, electronically manipulated sounds and spoken word fragments), Melanchoholics walk new paths, combining minimal guitars, drones, low-end bass and lo-fi electronic sound collages. The only consensus is to create slow, depressive soundscapes. A soundtrack to personal miserable states of mind, psychotic euphoria and intoxicated wastelands. It is a low-end manifesto for low-end connoisseurs.

SRMEIXNER - 'Between The Lines' CD (Dirter)
From the ashes of leading experimental outfit, Contrastate, comes the self-named srmeixner project. Electronic music and field recordings are utilised to create a sonic soundtrack to an apocalyptic world exploring a sense of space and architecture inspired by Daniel Libeskind's Jewish Museum in Berlin. This is music inspired by the past, but very much of the future. The music resembles minimal modern architecture, and is a perfect aural example of the 'less-is-more' principle. An excellent release.

THE DOMESTIC FRONT - 'Having Achieved Balance, You Cannot Be Moved Sideways' CD (Belsona Strategic)
"Having Achieved Balance..." consists of 4 epic-length tracks of electrified beauty and brutality, recorded and composed in various locations in urbanized Japan and the deserted American plains. The music of TDF (aka Thomas Bey William Bailey) is a mesh of heavily camouflaged, processed electronics and similarly obscured environmental noises. Issues of insecurity, isolationism and private/public dichotomy are also at the center of this psycho-acoustic sound project. A concentrated attack on 'anthropocentrism'. A pure sensation.

TOMAS KORBER / KAZUYA ISHIGAMI - 'Mistakes' CD (Neus-318)
Swiss improviser and composer Tomas Korber works with sounds created by Japanese laptop artist Kazuya Ishigami and vice versa. Utilizing Korber’s guitar sounds Ishigami crafts an intriguing electronic world over two pieces - austere electrics, frenzied digitalia, high pitches, bass drones, melodic waves of feedback and rhythmic pulses. Korber meanwhile begins his piece with a static piercing tone that dissipates suddenly into silence. A strategy he continues throughout the piece, building towards crescendos and the then dropping in a block of silence, only to startle with a single resonating tone.

WOMBA - 'Evidence Of Letta' CD (RAIG)
The fascinating allure of sound sculptures, organic and industrial flotsams of the WOMBA origin, catalyzed by the manipulations of the local underground scene's most prolific lunatic Tikhon S. Kubov. It is neither a return to the aggravated sonic assault of the preceding album, nor a reproduction of the kind of noise you would expect nowadays - but somewhat more soft. A refined post-industrial symphony of nostalgia, sentiment and lust. Normally, it works without breaks as one single piece, but the montage specific character allows a listener to spin one's own web of twenty four audio-cells by programming the "Letta" tracks to playback in any order. "Make your own Evidence!". Presented in a stunning cardboard package. Russian import.
