The black earth feels before it the buzzing noise of a new dawn, the dawn of mankind's fall and the rise of those lurking in the shadows. "Insects" is the second manifestation of the apocalyptic extermination device 20.SV. Taking great pride in crafting the most realistic sounds of extermination from scratch at their most psychologically agonizing nature, 20.SV is firm on transmitting the simulation of your own demise through its genuine Industrialised Post Apocalyptic Bio-Nuclear Radioactive Frequencies. AD OMBRA - 'Rites Of Genesis (Equinox Tremendum)' CD (War Office Propaganda / Rage In Eden)
Romanian project Ad Ombra’s debut album offers a suite in 15 parts of Dramatic Orchestral art, rooted in the timeless fragrance of Classical music, adorned with Eastern lullabies, funeral dirges, monumental choirs and operatic female chants, theatrical soliloquies, industrial hues of a dark disturbing manner, all coagulated in order to depict the aesthetical testimonies of the project’s mastermind, George D. Stanciulescu. A spiral of emotions, thoughts, opalescent visions, essential recurrences, for Creation’s shrine that stands as a living mirror where everyone can reflect the(m)selves. For fans of Elend, Stoa, Sophia and Chaostar. Digipak.
The debut album of Aeoga presents very original and haunting material based on spiralling dark drones, eerie guitar feedback textures, archaic drum and cymbal patterns, atonal / tonal vocalizations and distant / peculiar sample layers. 8 tracks of organic dark ambient / archaic & ascetic horizons to dark and haunting tribal/ritual atmospheres. "To exhaust mind and body in order to obtain a condition of non-consciousness and thus receive, realize and create material based on both primal and absent vision". Comes in a special octagon shaped cardboard covers including a 6-panel textured cardboard sleeve. Beautiful item. Limited to 1000 copies.
Aghiatrias are a digital black plague from the dark alcoves of Prague, Czech Republic, headed by Vladimir Hirsch. 'Regions of Limen' is basically a conceptual idea of abstract activities in the brain, the confrontation of a real and surreal subconscious world. Very powerful symphonic soundscapes caught between neo-classical and post-industrial sounds. A confrontation between classical compositions and intense power electronic noise generators. Ltd x 500.

AKAMATSU / INAMI / ISHIGAMI - 'Split' CD (Electr-Ohm)
An incredible performance of 16 different tracks by three Japanese experimental laptop artists, each one working a piece by themselves. Akamatsu has intriguing, minimalist tableaus, each working off of a pattern of eventual change but from small places. The sounds of each piece are completely different. The Ishigami pieces are similar but even more stripped-down, with greater changes in volume, at times descending into mechanical concrete, like a robot playing with a mechanical cricket. The Inami pieces are thick compared to the previous; drones that begin a slow-motion whirlwind of sound, faraway basso utterances, the slow throbbing of an engine wall, receding, receding into a blank, misty vacuum of clouds. Imaginative and varied.

AKITSA / PRURIENT - 'Split' CD (Hospital Productions)
Canadian artist Akitsa creates atmospheric yet shredded minimal and monolithic guitar and drum mantras with inhumane, spiritual vocal abandon. Complete with bombed out morbid organ and Noise intro, wrought with anxious anticipation of the primitive natural vortex that follows. Prurient presents a massively decayed, fetid live sound collage titled ‘Fossil’. Patient, miserable, synth wails and howls under churning field recordings, tapes, electronic distortion and the inevitable vocal fallout. Roughly 30 mins from each band creating a long and drizzly haze for isolated depressives.

ALEXEI BORISOV & KK NULL - 'Xenoglossia' CD (Insofar Vapor Bulk)
This is a wise pairing between the two completely versatile and experienced electronic manipulators. There are a host of totally warped sounds like I’ve never heard from either KK Null (Zeni Geva) or Alexei Borsov. Sticky electronic pitter-patter leads way to tinkling sine tones and cryptic foreign terrain. When they integrate some guy mumbling, it truly sends me back to the seminal sound of lost souls that became Throbbing Gristle. But this is not all-dark cerebral jargon, there is a lighter, almost frustrated techno lurking just below the surface. Slim cardboard sleeve with artwork by KK Null.

ALFREDO COSTA MONTEIRO - 'Epicycle - Metallic Brown Cover Edition' CD (Etude Records)
Portuguese minimal-electro-acoustic artist Alfredo Costa Monteiro surprises with "Épicycle". The steady-state, relatively drone-ish character of this 38-minute piece of work is much more fluid than his earlier work and is also based on sound recordings of his voice, although processed virtually beyond recognition. "Épicycle" fluctuates from roars to barely perceptible pings, often with an abruptness that initially startles but on second listen seems entirely natural, like a cloud suddenly blotting out sunlight. It’s a fascinating, chillingly beautiful journey; you never feel quite safe but always have the sense you’re in capable, acutely sensitive hands guided by a deep musical imagination. Comes in an outsized sleeve with metallic brown cover.

ASHRAM - 'Shining Silver Skies' CD (Equilibrium Music)
Four years after their homonymous debut, the Italian ensemble finally completes their second album, “Shining Silver Skies”, a work which unfolds itself as an exercise in musical bliss and purity, drenched in sweet nostalgia that flickers through memories of aching loss or rapturous passion. The Neo-Classical style that acts as a foundation to Ashram’s music is built upon with piano, soaring violin, cello, acoustic guitar and crooning vocals. An album which not only embodies the romantic backdrop of early 1900’s glamour, but that also flirts with the Folk spirit and mellow ballads.
ASMUS TIETCHENS / JON MUELLER - 'Acht Stucke' CD (Auf Abwegen)
Second collaborative effort between German sound manipulation pioneer Asmus Tietchens and American improv-drummer Jon Mueller (also label boss of Crouton). The completeness that is "Acht Stücke" is of breathtaking beauty and simplicity and complexity at the same time. The album is definitely more homogenous and 'together' than the first meeting of the two musicians. It emanates a warm and deep sound evolving out of total soundless blankness as it seems. 8 tracks that run up to 53 minutes. Ltd x 500 copies in a shrinkwrapped card sleeve, designed by Tietchens.
Aube presents a superb work of re-editing and re-composition of original material from “Ml Mheen Alysm” by Maurizio Bianchi. BARDOSENETICCUBE & IGOR V. PETROV - 'The Perpetuum Mobile Space Vehicle' CD (Mechanoise Labs)
Collaborative material from Bardoseneticcube's recording sessions with St. Petersburg-based saxophonist Igor V. Petrov. Definitely one of Bardoseneticcube's most singular and musical works, with a mixture of irradiated electronics, sedated drones and urban soundscapes. Utilising saxophone as a drone instrument, rather than the usual freeform jazz you'd expect. Ltd x 500 copies in a nice digipak.
This album is inspired by the life and works of Nika Turbina - a poetess who started to write grown-up tragic poems when she was only 4 years old, with her first book printed when she was only 9 (later translated in 12 languages). After living pathologically strange life, receiving the "Golden Lion" prize, and being held in mental hospital, at the age of 27 Nika tragically died falling down from the 5th floor window. BATCHAS - 'Explorations 85-95' CD (Monochrome Vision)
Long awaited comeback of this mysterious Swiss-based project, returning with a new album released after ten years of oblivion. Contains tracks from an old unreleased album as well as totally re-worked and re-mastered material recorded between 1985 and 1995. Ltd x 500 copies. Russian import.
This is a beautiful yet serious record from this Russian artist (half of Sleepy Town Manufacture). It is ambience, but not simply ambient. These are cinematic tracks begging for a narrative, often invoking the skeletons of stories with found sounds, alongside the sound of machinery. The sound is thickly layered with varied pitch tones and drones which often become so much a part of the soundscape that they become the foundation of its lushness; sometimes building tension, sometimes delivering an other-worldy, floating quality.
