ALTAR OF FLIES / SEWER ELECTION - 'Split' LP (Release The Bats)
(2008) Split slab of vinyl from two of the best acts currently dwelling in the depths of the Swedish underground scene. Altar Of Flies continues with his dark and eerie forest rumblings. Buried claustrophobic lo-fi insanity straight from hell with heavy outbursts of feedback, which could have been outtakes from an old Dario Argento soundtrack. Sewer Election fill the flipside with the nasty "Rotten Corpse" - a crude and disgusting piece full of monotonous, freezing coldness. Mean-spirited ugliness from both bands. Mastered by Patrik Jonsson (Dødsdømd). Limited to 325 copies.

THE SKULL DEFEKTS - 'Skkull' CD (Release The Bats)
Hailing from Göteborg, Sweden, The Skull Defekts is a music collective featuring core members Joachim Nordwall, Henrik Rylander, Jean-Louis Huhta and Daniel Fagerström. On "Skkull" the band is stripped down to the trio of Nordwall / Rylander / Huhta and what we get is an all electronic album containing 4 long songs. Compared to their earlier releases this one takes a more minimalistic and monotonous approach but still manages to be heavy as hell! Expect total Scandinavian coldness. Digipak, ltd x 500.

THE SKULL DEFEKTS - 'The Drone Drug' CD (Release The Bats)
Continuing on the same path, the sound of The Drone Drug is of a similar relentless minimalistic nature as its RTB predesessor 'Skkull'. This could be seen as the electronic backbone to last yea's 'Blood Spirits & Drums Are Singing' (Conspiracy), creating a heavy beast with the stripped-down use of variations in drones and frequencies instead of guitars and percussion. Monotonous motor humming via drugged-out machinery and assaults of feedback attacking with a strong feel of claustrophobia. The atmosphere created is thick and black, bringing up visions of a dystopian society trembling on the edge of the world. Spreading the disease in a world slowly dying, 'The Drone Drug' is poison and affect you it will. Ltd x 500. Digipak.
