 |
Shipping: Now
An artistic collaboration between musicians Anni Hogan, Robert Strachan and Itchy Ear, film maker Bob Wass and mountaineer Cathy O'Dowd. Hogan and Itchy Ear originally worked on a series of piano pieces inspired by Rene Daumal's 'Mount Analogue' and the superior wisdom of mountains, using O'Dowds Himalayan conquests for particular authentic inspiration. Robert and Anni used these pieces and the Himalayan peaks as a template for painting a soundwave soundscape around the piano compositions. O'Dowd performed a fascinating monologue over the piece 'Deathzone'. The 'Mountain' film was created by Bob Wass from Cathy's original film footage of her Everest expeditions.

| SKULLFLOWER | Fucked On A Pile Of Corpses CD (CSR151CD) £10 / £11 / £12 |

Now
The most remorseless, brutal Skullflower ever! Alternating between granular lo-fi primitive rock and granular lo-fi primitive Power Electronics,
this taut disc is a chain mail glove of hate to any lazy minds who've tainted the air with describing Skullflower as 'psychedelic'. But that's not to say this is an all out total assault. There are also moments of tender acoustic balladry, its just that they don't exist.
The remorseless brutal sound is primitive, but as detailed and rich as a blood soaked medieval canvas,
somewhere betwixt The Rita and Clandestine Blaze, but more brutal!

40 minutes of dense astral emanations and magickal paradigms transmitted through the ritual mantras generated by Emme Ya. Based on the mysterious African Dogon tribe and their secret oral tradition. In the 1930s two anthropologists gained their trust enough to be told these remarkable secrets. The Dogon seemed to possess advanced astronomical knowledge beyond their means, without any instruments, revealing hidden stars Sirius B and Sirius C, so invisible they were only discovered by scientists with advanced imaging in 1970 and 1995.
The Dogon say that their information was given to their ancestors through contact
with beings from the star system of Sirius, calling these beings Nommos or ‘the
monitors of the universe’.

ADERLATING - 'Spear Of Gold And Seraphim Pt. 1' CD
(ConSouling Sounds)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
Starting out as an outlet for Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues / De Magia Veterum) to bring his unique dark aural vision to the live environment, together with Eric (Mowlawner), Aderlating have evolved into a solid act. Aderlating unleashes new tidal waves of darkness with "Spear of Gold & Seraphim Bone Pt. 1" (the second part is scheduled to be released later this year).
Ranging from subtle ambient to noise-drenched slabs of black metal, low-end rumbling, screeching highs and driven industrial brutality, Aderlating is captivating and disenchanting at the same time. The whole atmosphere breathes a hypnotic darkness, which has a distinct ritualistic feel to it. Vile ritual hymns of pure darkness and horror. It purges all the filth, bleakness and darkness of the world, and channels it into mind numbing sonic abuse the listener just can't get enough of. Ltd x 500 copies in a mini-LP sleeve. |
AIDAN BAKER & THISQUIETARMY - 'Orange (Extended)' CD
(Lunasylum)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
"Orange" was the first collaboration between the two Canadian drone-doom guitarists Aidan Baker (Nadja) & Eric Quach. After sharing a bill in 2005 with their respective bands, they exchanged files by mail, which were then mixed by Quach in Montreal during the summer of 2006. The result was released as an EP through Quach's imprint (TQA Records). "Orange" is now reissued, re-edited, remastered and extended into a 47 minute CD, with the addition of 4 extra tracks from the same sessions that were left behind five years ago. Ltd x 400 copies in a mini-LP sleeve. |
ANDREW KING & BROWN SIERRA - 'The Kraken' 12"
(Dais Records)
- £12 / £15.50 / £19 |
 |
Andrew King, along with collaborators Brown Sierra, send forth a follow-up EP to their folk diamond “Thalassocracy”. ”The Kraken” sounds like a traditional maritime shanty ripped from history’s pages, laced with experimental beauty, electronic hisses and static. Andrew’s studies of ancient English folklore forged with Brown Sierra’s epic electronic noise instrumentation make this release highly anticipated and easily one of the most remembered folk recordings of the past year. Limited to 500 hand-numbered copies.

BEASTIANITY - 'Root' LP
(Dais Records)
- £16 / £19.50 / £23 |
 |
First ever vinyl reissue of the legendary Australian Neofolk outfit Beastianity’s first album “Root”. Passionate and driving, wild and untamed - honestly one of the most moving and intense recordings of the genre. Beastianity have survived close to two decades as a rogue unit of individuals dedicated to the upkeep of the sub-underground sound. The sonic confrontation of their show was, and is still, a baptism of fire. Only those who could laugh through the excruciating feedback, tape loops, screaming, potential off stage violence and gunpowder stench would stick around to see the pack develop a sound that remains uniquely Australian. Originally released on CD in 1999, now remastered and limited to 300 hand-numbered copies.

BRION GYSIN - 'Live In London 1982' CD
(Sub Rosa)
- £13 / £14 / £15 |
 |
"Live In London 1982" is the Beat Generation revamped. Recorded in Brixton four years before the death of Beat legend, this live set features Gysin reciting poems from the late '50s and early '60s, accompanied by a makeshift no wave backing band consisting of Slits bassist Tessa Pollitt (also on cello), Rip Rig Panic, drummer Steve Noble, Penguin Cafe Orchestra percussionist Gile and guitarist Ramuntcho Matta. Most of the texts were written upon meeting Burroughs, at the time of the invention of the cut-up. The influence that Brion Gysin has had on contemporary music may never be taken fully into account. The music is resolutely avant rock: dissonant, provocative, and largely improvised. Gysin called this session "White Funk".
Live in London 1982 is an interesting document, which will appeal to connoisseurs of William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin's legacy.

CYCLOBE - 'Wounded Galaxies Tap At The Window' CD
(Phantom Code)
- £16 / £17 / £18 |
 |
Essentially a duo comprising Ossian Brown and Stephen Thrower, Cyclobe have created a thrilling and compelling collection of music, which moves effortlessly from realms of cavernous cacophony to moments of blissful delicacy. The first new CYCLOBE music to surface since their 'death-concrét' missile 'Paraparaparallelogrammatica' (an album made in collaboration with NURSE WITH WOUND), "Wounded Galaxies" showcases major new developments, with contributions from Thighpaulsandra, John Contreras, Cliff Stapleton and Michael J. York. Together, they've created an immersive pan-psychedelic dream warren, rich in detail and surprise. "Wounded Galaxies" front cover features a stunning artwork by the renowned American artist Fred Tomaselli. Thrower and Brown are well known for their work in the legendary group COIL, as well as UnicaZürn, The Amal Gamal Ensemble and Current 93. With 'Wounded Galaxies', the group has not only produced their finest and most ambitious work to date, they've created an album which can stand tall with the year's most innovative and exciting releases. ELECTRIC URANUS / X-NAVI:ET - 'Voices Of The Cosmos' Enhanced CD
(Beast Of Prey /
Eter Records)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
This Dark Ambient album contains original extraterrestrial sounds captured from space by radio-telescopes (pulsars), sounds from space missions and space itself. Each artist created 3 tracks that form the 40 minutes album. Instrumental tracks played and recorded in rhythm with tones of "space sounds", are made manually with use of electronic and acoustic instruments, making this project very unique. "Voices Of The Cosmos" is electro-acoustic dark ambient. We watch the sky and the stars, heavenly bodies, other galaxies. All that fascinates us is beautiful and colorful. But those are not environments kind to us. They are terrifying, cold or extremely hot places. And this how this album is. It can take you out there but it can scare you too. Comes with 2 bonus video tracks. Digipak. |
GOATMOON / DEAD REPTILE SHRINE - 'Winterforest' CD
(Bestial Burst)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
Split release between two Finnish acts. Goatmoon steal the show with their 25-minute title track. Epic, Satanic Black Metal with elements of melody and atmospheres with plenty of anthemic guitars, eerie piano and howling wind. Goatmoon never let the overall quality level drop. DRS contributes 5 tracks of weird and wonderful melancholic Black Metal, more understated and less bombastic than Goatmoon, but as memorable in a low-key sort of way. |
GRUEL - 'Gruel' CD
(At War With False Noise)
- £9 / £10 / £11 |
 |
CD issue of this instant classic of avant-sludge (originally issued on vinyl in 2009 by Feast Of Tentacles). This is the only recording Gruel made, or will ever make since they announced their recent split, and what a testament it is! Like The Melvins playing King Crimson's "Red" album, this is at both theatrical, beautifully composed, and troglodyte-ianly heavy. Utterly immersive, each passage of quiet atmospherics is shattered by a barrage of brilliant repetitious riffing. Four 15 minute-long songs and it's totally captivating from start to finish. Will definitely be right up the alleys of those into Melvins, Swans, Grief, Throbbing Gristle, Goblin, Harvey Milk etc. Ltd x 500 copies in a PVC sleeve, with poster. |
HAARE - 'Madon Evankeliumi' CD
(At War With False Noise)
- £9 / £10 / £11 |
 |
Finland's Haare are one of the most exciting noise artists around. This is total swirling psychedelia, incredibly heavy shifting tides of drone with evil organ lines permeating the noise. Haare himself describes it as "a slow, heavy bell". Based on source sounds provided by MOSS members Olly Pearson, Chris Chantler and Dom Finbow. Ltd x 500 copies in an A5 pro-printed gatefold wallet and PVC sleeve with amazing art by Andrew Labanaris (Electric Wizard and MOSS).

KONRAD KRAFT - 'Temporary Audiosculptures And Artefacts' CD (Auf
Abwegen)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
Trying to set musical events in a sculptural form, German artist and musician Detlef Funder (a.k.a. Konrad Kraft), develops the temporary audio-sculpture. Knowing that a tonal event can never take the form of a real sculpture, Konrad Kraft attempts this special transformation with the help of various elements. Human imagination, time, as well as the tonal event itself are the elements for the listener to form an individual audio-sculpture and to let it develop in their heads.
It sounds like floating metallic sound units interfere with small concrete sounds in the foreground, reminding of the work of Illusion Of Safety, Controlled Bleeding and Cisfinitum. Ltd x 300 copies in a special carton fold box. |

LYCIA - 'The Burning Circle And Then Dust' CD
(Silber Records)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
The classic Ethereal / Darkwave album from 1995, stunningly remastered and released as the definitive version, as intended by Lycia frontman Mike VanPortFleet. "The Burning Circle..." was a groundbreaking point in Lycia's career. It marked a shift from more atmospheric music towards song-oriented tracks and the addition of David Galas' bass / synth and Tara Vanflower's seductive vocals. An hour of stunning music, reminiscent of early Cocteau Twins. |
MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Computers S.p.A. / Com.SA' 2 x CD
(At War With False Noise)
- £12 / £13 / £14 |
 |
Second in the At War series of early CD issues of tapes by noise legend MB. Two works originally released privately on cassette in October & November 1980. Both these albums are lo-fi, featuring very primitive use of synthesiser, tape loops and tape manipulation. There's a real charm and otherwordly feel to them, There's something very prescient about MB's explorations into the computer world with his sounds on these records, particularly given the nature of most modern noise music and how no-one has managed to replicate the feeling of his early works, even with the technology available. As ever, highly recommended to all with an interest in noise music and it's history. Ltd x 500 copies.

NECRO DEATHMORT - 'Music Of Bleak Origin' CD
(Distraction Records)
- £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50 |
 |
Second release from this London duo (Matthew Rozeik / AJ Cookson), whose debut "This Beat Is Necrotronic" earned them support slots with Ulver and Shining. "Music Of Bleak Origin" takes things up a notch. An intense soundtrack of crunchy fuzz, chambertronic buzz, walls of guitar wail, crashing chords, acidic bleeps and blips, creeping drone, heavy, nihilistic doom and guttural screams, combining analogue and digital noise to devastating effect. Ltd x 1000 copies in a heavy PVC archive sleeve with an 18-panel poster sleeve with artwork by Dominic Hailstone (Isis, Mogwai).

REDRIGHTHAND - 'They Sang And Chanted For Hours, Then The Locked In Hundreds Set
Themselves Ablaze' CD
(At War With False Noise)
- £9 / £10 / £11 |
 |
RRH played quite a bit in the UK and built up quite a name for themselves over the years, and this record is a perfect distillation of their sound: incredibly slow, interminably heavy and possessing an atmosphere of complete and utter despair. Recorded in 2004, this is one of the best documents of the UK sludge/doom sound. The band's members were in/went on to be in Hard To Swallow, Narcosis, They Are Cowards, Charger, Ocksen, Like A Kind Of Matador and Gruel.
Ltd x 500 copies with 'manifesto' insert.

SEWER GODDESS - 'Disciples Of Shit: Live Waste' CD
(Black Plagve / Maligant Records)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
After the huge success of last year's "With Dirt You Are One", Boston based cultists Sewer Goddess return with "Disciples of Shit: Live Waste"; a fetid and raw collection of live audio crimes committed over a 2-year period from 2009-2010. Anyone who has witnessed Sewer Goddess live will know what to expect here, which is a more structured take on the death industrial, squalor filled atmospheres they’re known for. A more traditional band format adds layers of distorted and skuzzy bass, crashing percussion, and discordant guitar and meets head on with terrifying, blood curdling screams and the requisite churning mass of postmortem, electronic dirge.
5 tracks, most previously unreleased, that represent Sewer Goddess in the most raw, unclean, and unpolished of states! Presented in a 6 panel digipak, designed by Andre Coehlo (Sektor 304). |
SLOGUN - 'We Human Animal' CD
(Circle Of Shit)
- £12 / £13 / £14 |
 |
A welcome release of brand new material from Slogun, and what a beast it is. "We Human Animal" is a scathing attack on humanity, delivered with precise, focused energy and contempt. Musically, this is a darker release, with a more restrained approach. But let's get this straight, that's strictly in comparison to some of John's other works. In reality, this is incredibly intense and sonically violent - swirling textured distortion and turbine charged electronics, with screamed, in your face vocals delivered in the classic Slogun style. Still, there's more variation here than a lot of previous works, with claustrophobically atmospheric, layered passages that make for a very complete release. Killer Power Electronics... but then, what did you expect? Ltd x 300 copies in a 6-panel digipak.

SNOG - 'The Last Days Of Rome' CD
(Hymen Records)
- £11.50 / £12.50 / £13.50 |
 |
Australian musician David Thrussell (Snog, Black Lung) has been active in the electro / industrial genre since 1992. On “The Last Days Of Rome” he offers subtle electronica elements with an acoustic attitude through guitars, and perversely apocalyptic lyrics. Sliding between genres, “The Last Days Of Rome” is dark, powerful and totally catchy, a sleek meaningful beast. Produced by The Calculators (The Faint etc) and featuring the
voice of Royce Doherty, the collapse of civilization has never been this groovy before! Adding to the celebratory atmosphere is an extraordinary down tempo remix by UK electro legend Sir Real, followed by four acoustic tunes and finished with 'A
Nation At War', a true conclusion to an album like this by a band like this. 20 tracks in a digipak.

SYNDROME - 'Floating Veins' CD
(ConSouling Sounds)
- £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
"Floating Veins" is the debut album from Syndrome, the latest moniker under which Mathieu Vandekerckhove (Amenra, Sembler Deah) operates. As opposed to the emotional and violent outpour that Amenra delivers, Syndrome explores the very boundaries of introspective music.
Prepare to be taken on a narrative musical journey through five acts each painting a different picture but transcending into one dramatic moment where everything seems to fall into place perfectly. While the ambient soundscapes and the eerie droning riffs are the blood, the apocalyptic drums and beats are the pulse. The tides stow the listener right into the roaring heart of Syndrome. Until it stops. Ltd x 400 copies in a mini-LP sleeve. |
THE GUILT ØF... - 'The Guilt Øf...' LP
(At War With False Noise)
- £11 / £14.50 / £18 |
 |
Debut full-length from Mike Williams (Eyehategod, Arson Anthem) and Ryan McKern (Wolvhammer) after their recent split LP with Merzbow. This is very different to Mike's usual output and provides him with the perfect outlet for his singular, dark world view. Early industrial, punk, electro and noise are all references here and are tied together by Williams' distinctive vocal style. This is some very dark stuff and definitely has the feel of Eyehategod even though it's got a totally different sound. Reference points: (early) Skinny Puppy, Throbbing Gristle, Suicide, Head Of David. Equal parts primitive industrial, noise and punk; most certainly their most fully-realised recording to date by some way. Ltd x 250 copies on black vinyl.

THE HERMAPHRODITIC CHAORDER OF THE
SILVER DUSK - '156=Musick=Babalon=Kaos'
CD
(Zoharum) - £11 / £12 / £13 |
 |
An experiment of Process: Magickal Musick recorded by members of The HermAphroditic ChAOrder of the SILVER DUSK - usually in ritual context or with invocational intent - then posted on CD to other member/s in another country for them to add more layers to. This continued progressively until completion. The style of music ranges from neoclassical ambient orchestral multi-instrumental corroborations and layered electronic experimentations to simple primal ritual corroborators with sticks and bells and harmonious voices around a fire by the Hekate Tree. 156 is the number of Babalon, the fiery Thelemic Goddess and also of Kaos, the 7-headed beast on which she rides. Dedicated to and inspired by Coil. Stunning 6-panel digipak with 6 x card inserts. |

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'From Earth To Sirius' 2 x CD
(Zoharum)
- £16 / £17 / £18 |
 |
A form of message sent from the Earth to the brightest star, composed of 20 exclusive tracks prepared especially for this compilation. Sirius is the canine planet, the brightest star of the northern sky. Known since the ancient times, it has left an imprint on forming outlooks, beliefs, religious centres in many cultures. Even the ancient Egyptians worshipped Sirius as a deity, built their calendar on Sirius' cycle closely connected to the Nile tides before the summer solstice. In the 20th century the interest in the magical aspect of Sirius did not die out. Thanks to the Discordian groups with R.A. Wilson (the great philosopher to whom the compilation is dedicated) and T. Leary at the head, it is still being revived. The music on the album oscillates between psychedelic drone, dark ambient, tribal and down-tempo. Some of the projects approach the theme in the vein of ritualistic music; others realise their ideas through the sounds of universe and deep dark infinite space. Features: Ah Cama-Sotz, Apocalyptic Visions, Atomine Elektrine, Christblood, Different State, Electric Uranus, Emme Ya, Expo '70, Hybryds, Kallee, Kia Karma, Nordvargr, Ouroboros, Phelios, Rapoon, S.E.T.I., Therion Trismegistos, Unknown Caller, X-NAVI:ET and Zenial. Presented in a beautiful 6-panel digipak with silver print. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Magnetic Fields & Zero Dimension Planes' CD
(ConSouling Sounds)
- £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50 |
 |
It's very hard to define what exactly ambient and drone music is. It's a broad spectrum with hardly any boundaries and which is open to a lot of experiments. Sometimes gentle sounds without much variation, other times dream-evoking and oppressive rhythms. This compilation tries to do justice to this diversity, as the sound palette goes from monotone soundscapes and guitar drones over dark ambient and field recordings to electronic and warm ambient. Nearly all tracks are unreleased and/or exclusive to this release. Features: Blyndhæð (Blindhaed), Distant Fires Burning, IAM., Mirko Uhlig, Monotonos, [multer], N (16), Hihilum, Premonition Factory, Simulacra, Soundsketching and Tzesne. ASMUS
TIETCHENS / JON
MUELLER - 'Acht Stücke' CD (Auf
Abwegen)
- £11 / £12 / £13
Second collaborative effort between German sound manipulation
pioneer Asmus Tietchens and American improv-drummer
Jon Mueller (also label boss of Crouton). The completeness
that is "Acht Stücke" is of breathtaking
beauty and simplicity and complexity at the same time.
The album is definitely more homogenous and 'together'
than the first meeting of the two musicians. It emanates
a warm and deep sound evolving out of total soundless
blankness as it seems. 8 tracks that run up to 53
minutes. Ltd x 500 copies in a shrinkwrapped card
sleeve, designed by Tietchens. |
 |
AUBE - 'Blau + Rot' 7" (Auf
Abwegen) - £6 / £7 / £8
On "Blau + Rot", released for the first
european tour by AUBE in eight years, Akifumi Nakajima
worked with an old Roland SH-12 percussive synth.
The result is two long tracks (each over 6 minutes)
with a nice floating mood that sometimes changes into
aggressiveness, without losing its warmth. A great
little record by one of the most important experimental
musicians from Japan. Clear vinyl. Regular edition
of 400 copies. |

BLACK SUN / THEY ARE COWARDS - 'Code Black / First And Only' 7"
(At War With False Noise) - £6 / £7 / £8
Black Sun take the first side with a surprisingly short, fast and loud number. Still as heavy as previous At War LP "Paralyser" but much more in the short, fast and loud vein. This one's been a set-closer for a while now and is a total rager, will hopefully be a nice surprise to a lot of you! This is the first release by Manchester-based doom-sludgers They Are Cowards and it's a beast. Totally focused, grim northern waste-inspired misery, building from a massive Celtic Frost-esque riff. A totally brilliant pairing of northern negativity! Ltd x 300 copies on heavyweight black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. |

A brutal showing of improvised noise delivered at maximum volume, blasting their jams with screwed up electronic wreckage and harsh, Japanese-style jackhammer noise, gasps of early Industrial and random ambient visions. (Apop Records / Little Mafia / Bar La Muerte

- £5 / £6 / £7
Italy's Ovo create fierce and pounding post-rock featuring heavy injections of noise, free jazz and seminal no-wave. The duo features talented multi-instrumentalist Bruno Dorella and Stefania Pedretti (whispers, banshee wails and brutal death metal roars), with guest appearances from Daniele Brusaschetto, Jacopo Andreini and Capoccia.
In addition to their usual harsh electronic noise and ranting vocals, America's Cock E.S.P.'s tracks also feature delicate experimental soundscapes and even some beats. Alexandra Kohl makes a guest appearance. Ltd x 500 copies. |

COCK E.S.P. / PANICSVILLE - 'Last Train To Cocksville' CD
(Sunship Records
/ Little Mafia / Nihilist)
- £8 / £9 / £10
This tribute to 60's bubblegum gods The Monkees comes from a tag team blast of harsh electronic noise and Monkees-baiting cutup between Midwestern free-noise freaks Cock E.S.P. and Panicsville. Monkees tapes are slowed down skrew-style and looped, heavy bleats of burnt feedback squeal and electric currents are squeezed into your ear, grating noise sprouts from a wasteland of sonic detritus, obliterating the Monkees tunes into blots of near-unrecognizable splat with warped renditions of the original songs lyrics. The cover features Cock E.S.P.'s E.W. Hagstrom and Panicsville's Andy Ortmann dressed as train engineers hard at work on the tracks. |

CULVER / SEPPUKU - 'Dedicated To Soledad Miranda' CD
(At War With False Noise)
- £9 / £10 / £11
First time on CD for both these bands: Culver is the awe-inspiring drone / noise project of Lee Stokoe (Marzuraan, Skullflower). Here he gives us a 30 min+ deluge of harrowing, bassy drone, purveying a sense of crawling dread at what is to come. Soon things get more desperate before being crushed into oblivion by a wall of crushing amplifier noise, which slowly develops into a more sedative shifting tone. Seppuku give two tracks in very different styles... the first is an unbearably heavy doom piece, giving way to some Throbbing Gristle-esque hydraulic pumping before the guitars kick in and everything is laid to waste... heavy duty! The second track sounds very post-industrial power electronics, with walls of bleak static forming the backbone of the track, interspersed with what sounds like post-apocalyptic winds of death, and some distorted lines of screeched vocal. Unpleasant. Ltd x 500 copies. |

IRM - 'The Cult Of The Young Men' CD
(Annihilvs)
- £11 / £12 / £13
Returning with a singularly cold, desolate and lonely release, IRM continues to fervently espouse irreligious, body-obsessed abstractions of the highest order. Departing from the aggressive PE outbursts of the past, the Swedish duo of Erik Jarl and Martin Bladh sculpt pulsating drones, shuddering frequencies, and powerfully dark sounds, as the bleeding wound of IRM continues to flower. The aggression may not be there, but the intensity is in full effect. The Cult of The Young Men contains 'live' tracks recorded in the studio, selections from live performances (including the APEX Fest), and a cover of JOY DIVISION's 'Here are the Young Men. Essential! |

PUISSANCE - 'State Collapse' CD
(Regain Records)
- £12 / £13 / £14
The masters of Martial Neoclassical Industrial return! Sumptuous and majestic as ever, exploring their melodic side even further. Bombastic orchestral sounds, atmospheric Neoclassical synth music, some militant drumming and dark spoken words. The Puissance mark of quality is instantly familiar from the opening track 'Trace Elements', with its overwhelming choirs. A solid Puissance album with some nice cinematic hymns, making it one of their best works. |

RASALHAGUE - 'Rage Inside The Window' CD
(Malignant Records)
- £11 / £12 / £13
"Rage Inside The Window" is the astounding debut album from Indiana based dark ambient artist Rasalhague, offering some of the most haunting, dread filled, and yet dynamic atmospheres we've come across in some time. Inspired by the true events of a young girl neglectfully imprisoned in filth and squalor by her thoughtless and uncaring mother. "Rage Inside the Window" takes the listener into the mind of a savagely depraved soul. Don't expect ambient of the spaced out, blissful, and softly textured variety. This is dirty and impenetrably dark, with an intertwining mass of demonic squalls, intense probing, highly ominous tonal drones, distant monolithic pulsations, and bleak isolationism. 6 lengthy tracks of pure psychological horror, progressively getting darker, brooding, and more menacing. Finally, with the final track, some semblance of solace is achieved. Akin to Atrium Carceri or Raison d'Etre. 6 panel DVD Digipak. |

SKULLFLOWER - 'IIIrd Gatekeeper' CD
(Crucial Blast)
- £10.50 / £11.50 / £12.50
Reissue of Skullflower's 1992 album 'IIIrd Gatekeeper' (originally on Justin Broadrick's Headdirt label), featuring the lineup of Matthew Bower, Stuart Dennison and Anthony DiFranco. This is Skullflower at their heaviest, grinding out slow, sludgy riffs and crushing, almost industrial rhythms amid a tempest of psychedelic guitar noise and dense sheets of feedback - easily the most crushing, rock-based music that Skullflower ever produced. A skulldozing dose of post-industrial dirge rock that sat comfortably next to Godflesh, Swans, and Ramleh. Gatefold digifile (retaining much of the original artwork), with new liner notes and a complete remastering. |

STEEL HOOK PROSTHESES - 'Atrocitizer' CD
(Malignant Records)
- £11 / £12 / £13
2nd CD proper from the Texas Power-Noise duo! While "Atrocitizer" will probably not be considered SHP's most aggressive release, it is unquestionably their most unsettling and creepy. 10 tracks and 50 minutes of death industrial in it's purest form, dripping and oozing with sinister intentions, and full of grim electronics, unnerving pulsations, and cold frequency spasms that swarm from a fetid pit of malevolence. Add in a steady stream of ultra menacing , processed vocals and nightmarish samples, and surely you have one of the more disturbing releases ever to be released on Malignant. Presented in a 6-panel digipak. |

TERRA SANCTA - 'Anno Domini' MCD (None)

This self released debut from Australian Dark Ambient legends Terra Sancta preceded the astonishing "Aeon" on Malignant Records. Anno Domini takes its cue from stunning acts like Raison D'Etre and Desiderii Marginis... sparse, textural soundscapes, deathly drawn out keyboard melodies, and smatterings of sampled (predominantly) female choir vocals. Over 31 minutes of music. Ltd x 500 copies in a card sleeve. |
