(2008) ARC is a Canadian trio (Aidan Baker, Richard Baker & Christopher Kukiel), playing tribal guitar drone ambient with psychedelic and post-rock elements and a very hypnotic sound. "Arkhangelsk" was recorded in Toronto, Canada in December 2007 in two separate sessions. The first consisted of improv performances on drumset and guitar. The second consisted of layering percussion, electronics, and woodwind tracks on those original drum / guitar tracks. Both sessions were made in real-time in single takes with minimum post-production editing or manipulation in an effort to capture the spontaneity of the performances. "Arkhangelsk" combines influence / inspiration from such artists as Flyer Saucer Attack, The Boredoms, Tribes of Neurot, and Rapoon. Ltd x 600 copies in a 6-panel digisleeve.

NADJA / NETHERWORLD - 'Magma To Ice' CD (Fario)
Talented Italian ambient composer Alessandro Tedeschi runs the Glacial Movements label and plays music as Netherworld. His fascination for polar landscapes and soundscapes makes him close to industrial ambient pioneers such as Thomas Köner, Rapoon, Biosphere and Lull. Icy, windy, droning and deeply 'protomelodic' at once, his music is a poetic translation of the ice floe. Nadja is the drone / doom / ambient duo of Canadian musicians Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff. Their behemoth of sound is a construction of heat, weight, loop and vapour. Here, they had to break Netherworld's ice and find a way to the red core of Earth. The common track brings heat onto ice, which warms up, crackles and soon melts. As a conclusion, the long piece by Nadja is total heat. This is Nadja 'unrhythmed', which means pure lava. “Mental Travellers" is a collaboration work created by mail during 2006. This record could be considered as an attempt to find the very deep basic background which is common for all the people independent of cultural environment or political barriers between nations and states. The delving into the very depth of the heart exposes these common roots. "Mental Traveller" shows it perfectly with its complex structure and at the same time its simple integrity. It is an excellent blend of both artists’ distinctive features - the esoteric rhythmic patterns and mystical rustles of Robin Storey are intertwined with subtle and beautiful drone ambient waves of Eugene Voronovsky. The result is quite diverse and captivating, reminding more of early Zoviet France than current Rapoon or Cisfinitum works. The final track called "Eurasia" features Russian ethnic female singer Toloka, whose archaic chanting makes a very natural conclusion for this mental travel to humanity's primordial roots.
