Described by herself as "Female Esoterica",
"Sub Rosa" opens a vast space filled with
different sounds coming from very far away, as nebulous
melodies, whispers, voices and choirs, little clicks

on Side B. The two pieces named "Rosa Alba"
and "Rosa Rubea" (white & red rose) have
a strong metaphorical alchemistic background, meaning
the end point of all alchemistic transmuations. The

the impression of an almost fabulous acoustic phantasy,

Boned Angel. Both projects chase a similar idea from

maximalism of his forays into the center of the subterranean

This
2CD set includes some of the most unusual sounds you
will have heard from Carl Michael von Hausswolff.
He was chosen by the 1997 Istanbul Biennal to create
a sound installation for Atatürk Airport. His
classic sound (low frequency rumblings, monotonous
oscillations and hissy non-narrative sequences) was
deemed too confusing for the commutors. It was feared
that his sound installation might be mistaken for
an alarm and could cause serious panic at the airport.
Hence the original soundtrack for “Perhaps/
/Arrive” was rejected. This music can now be
heard for the first time on disc 1. Von Hausswolff’s
response to the artistic restrictions was to produce
the four tracks you hear on the second disc. These
only make use of the very basic pre-set sounds included
in the Yamaha QY22 and show a new side to the von
Hausswolff sound. Very simple, post-nuclear lounge
music. These four tracks were used in the context
of the Biennal exhibition. Ltd

project that infests the listener with creeped out
frequencies and sound collage... features two tracks
that use recordings of intercepeted conversations
between Russian ground control and air force pilots
from Algerian airspace in 2005, layering these recordings
with sheets of electronic feedback and drone. Al-La-Sht-Orr
creates a grim electronic dronescape that takes on
an almost cinematic tension as we listen to these
Russian voices cloaked in white noise hiss going back
and forth over grating electronic beeps and noises,
harrowing high-end drones, growling organ-like clusters
of notes, and piercing feedback. The mix of radio
transmissions and grim industrial shrieking forms
a strange, alien shortwave similiar to some of Throbbing
Gristle's ominous works" (Crucial Blast). Ltd

This
CD is in fact 2 full-length albums of two Russian
industrial projects, both coming from Ekaterinburg,
Ural region. Carved Image Of Emptiness aren't easily
categorised - energetic industrial, sombre and serious
neoclassical, pompous Martial Industrial and Industrial
atmospheres. Zinc Room is quite another matter! Proper
old school noise with analogue distortion, field recordings
and samples. The recordings are mostly not aggressive,
but somehow sadly pensive - like an abandoned factory
standing in a field and overgrown by weeds long ago.
However the spirits of industrialisation still live
there and sometimes continue their mechanical activity.

It
is difficult for a listener to step away from the
narrative concept behind Conure's previous CD ("The
Generation of Our Grandfathers") and just immerse
oneself in the sounds. With his new work, Mark Wilson
utilises non-musical themes in a different manner
in order to allow that immersion. Themes run throughout
the five tracks of "Stream", but this time
the themes were used primarily as building blocks
rather than as the focus of the CD. His new creation
is rawer than previous works, while still retaining
their compositional strengths. The music, constructed
primarily from field recordings and other mic'ed sound
processed through effects pedals, is probably the
closest that Conure has come to reproducing the sound
of his live performances in the studio environment.

own. Coph Nia have decided to take the demon by the
horns, and tried to exorcise the Cover Demon before

the early 1980s. DSM have their very own take on the

on these two 10" records is super-dynamic and fragmentated
and sounds very fresh and alive. "Neunundvierzig
Entgleisungen" comes in a full cover gatefold sleeve.

is a drone based noise project from Albuquerque, New
Mexico. 'The Holy Mountain' is an epic and introspective
piece that oscillates between quiet, hypnotic drone

Holy Mountain' is about the human drive towards enlightenment
and is largely influenced by the path of the Aghori
Sadhus - a sect of Hindu ascetics who believe everything
is sacred and nothing is profane. As part of their
spiritual journey, they live alone in cremation grounds,
carry a begging bowl made from a human skull, and
wear cremation ashes.The extreme nature of their practice
and their intense desire for the union with the divine
was a major point of inspiration for the album. Each
sleeve was printed by Luperci's Joseph Angelo and

- but they're at their most effective on long, claustrophic
passage "Arson" or the harrowing final track,
"False". Dark, sub-industrial clanking in
the background, behind walls of air-raid siren drones.
Powerful, often brutal stuff, and not for the faint
