"Maleficia is the bay area duo of Andy Way (Orchest, French Radio, Carrion) and Ilysea Viles Sunderman, who crafted this desolate, post-industrial smear of voice, violin, and electronics for the always impressive isounderscore label. With the titles of the two side long pieces being "Making" and "Remaking," Maleficia offers a crucible of elemental sounds being obliterated into a charred dust and rebuilt into ashen constructions of misery and disgust... The industrialized loops that wraps around the voice and violin come across like a slow-motion Maurizio Bianchi on par with the downer records he did with Land Use or the grim power electronic phase in the early '80s. Certainly for fans of Amber Asylum, early Lustmord, and the dark ambient aspects of Broken Flag" (Aquarius). Ltd x 400 copies.
Based on a concept by Stefano Gentile, this CD is inspired by the works and life of Giordano Bruno. In addition to Stefano Gentile himself, this new work includes contributions by Maurizio Bianchi / M.B., Mauthausen Orchestra / Pierpaolo Zoppo, Nimh / Giuseppe Verticchio, Andrea Marutti and Gianluca Favaron. Almost 80 minutes of driving and all-involving music where bleak and dark atmospheres alternate with consuming assaults of Industrial distorted sonic masses, cinematic and descriptive passages enriched by detailed layers of field recordings, throbbing electronic progressions, melodic inserts, strings parts, guitar arpeggios, soft, slow and hypnotic ambient stasis. A work that gathers together some of the most representative artists both of the historical and of the more recent groundbreaking experimental and industrial Italian scene. Outsize sleeve.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI & MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA - 'Spiritual Noises' CD (Old Europa Cafe)
Historical collaboration between two of the fathers of Italian Old-School Industrial. Creating noise is determined by the presence of an original particle to which randomly apply an alteration to convey a voltage-activated disturbance that determines the electro-phonic perturbation. Features M.B. on ancient loops, modern metals and futuristic waves, and M.O. on synthesizer, loops and noise effects. Ltd x 300 copies in a digipak.
MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Aeternum Aevum' CD (Peripheral Records)
120th (or thereabouts) album from M.B., who has been making Industrial / Experimental music since 1979. On this album we find two long, beautifully understated tracks, that show a more pastoral side to the great Italian master of Industrial. Slow whirling pieces of ambience. This is dedicated to the late Conrad Schnitzler (Kluster, ex-Tangerine Dream) who passed away in August 2011. Ltd x 250 copies in a digipak, which features a sleeve adorned inside and out with abstract paintings by Moroccan painter Hayat Saidi.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Apokalypsis XXIII' CD (Nitkie)
"Maurizio Bianchi's last ever electronic music album. The four long tracks are inspired by verses from "The Book of Revelation", the final and most mysterious part of the New Testament. "The old master of industrial music is back after a hiatus... Four quotes from the book of Apocalypse is all the cover reveals for this. Bianchi is apparently still a devoted man, but this time the apocalypse doesn’t get a loud soundtrack, like it would have sounded thirty years ago, but a rather gentle work. Four long parts of non-committal synthesizer playing using loops of synthesizers, along with real-time playing, the apocalypse is depicted here as a chaotic but mild place... A powerful work by Bianchi, even when the power is the actual mildness of the music" (Vital Weekly). Ltd x 500 copies in a golden foil embossed digisleeve.
Near exact replica of this classic M.B. private LP published in 1983 in an edition of 300 copies. "A nodulose decrease of few sparkling casings, with manual scents or prolonged sick terms of tumoral cells. To replenish the majority of the rusty pathology we inject a fit existence in the deadly symptom of a weak bandage. The microscopic precipice undertakes a nasty hesitation into the bored carcinosi. Which is the calamitous result of the adamic transgression" (Maurizio Bianchi, Milan, 2011). Included is a numbered insert consisting in new liner notes by Maurizio Bianchi and a replica of an original polaroid photo by M.B. from 1982. MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Celtichants' CD (Alone At Last)
Lost and found all of a sudden, this album is an exploration made with the chanting voices of an unknown nature. Choral fragments were decomposed and restructured, arranged with the effects and atmospheric shifts, creating the mysterious soundtrack to the otherworldly ceremony. These echoing voices come directly from lost memories or daydreams, nobody can tell you where they are from, where they are calling you. Here are some words of the author, giving you just the hint but not the clear explanation. Limited edition of 500 copies in special packaging - custom made of textured paper with black/silver print, assembled by hand. Comes in 8 different colours (we stock the vanilla/cream edition). Comes with a set of 3 photos of miocenic basalts made by Siegmar Fricke in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria). Highly recommended!

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Escape To Bela-Zoar’ CD (L-White Records)
"Stick with it, get it at the right volume, and the latest CD from this established industrial pioneer totally delivers. 3 long tracks of old school atmospheres, full of curdling, pulsating drones, unsettling tonal washes, and strong, black undercurrents. Minimal, but penetrating, with a palpable bleak and grim quality (track two is heart wrenching) that you just don’t get from the newer kids on the scene. Maybe I’m just a sucker for the old school sound, but this sounds great" (Malignant Records). Ltd x 500 copies in a DVD case.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Hibernum' CD (EE Tapes)
New work by the Italian Industrial legend. "A marginal division of the whole existence in four palpable seasons, marked by pestilential changes in emotional hemisphere. Seasonal differences in the reformistic exposure turn on the climatic sounds for a thermostatic solstice while modular equinoxes transit along the nodulous diagram of astronomical devices. Usually considered as ephemeral like consciousness neurectomy which includes a mixture of chronological elements. The principle of living originates from electric sources of materialistic disturbances for unequivocal substances. At the end, the hibernating organisms organise a reproducing molecule of environmental for a silent 'hybernum'. 3 lengthy, slowly shifting atmospheres for private meditation". MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Ludium' CD (Silentes Minimal Editions)
A long and almost solemn track built with reverberated piano notes, a slow and rhythmical flow leaned on a background made of clashing hisses and vague, distant, rustling ambient noises. A brief interval based on obscure drones moving in circles, inexorably entangled on themselves. Then another long piano-based track, this time more dilated, confused, ethereal and prim, so much that it takes the distinguishing features of an indecipherable sonic mass, abstract and booming, estranging, deep and psychedelic. A few and minimal elements, “directed” in a masterly fashion and assembled in an absolutely fundamental work, from the brightest mind of the Italian experimental scene and of all the music “without compromise” of the last thirty years.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Pharmelodies - SIGNED' CD (Silentes)
A colossal and epic post-ambient symphony in three movements, where echoes of string instruments, deep drones of indecipherable origin, layered synthetic waves, slowed-down and distorted dark sonic masses challenge time with a para-immobility in constant turmoil, in an unpredictable, progressive and sometimes cyclic combination of statuesque sonic forms whose physiognomy is often known and familiar, while at the same time elusive, disturbing, arcane and mysterious. Another unmissable chapter in the immense, infinite sound material forged by the greatest and immortal alchemist of Italian non-musical experimental scene. MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Spiritualis' CD (Kubitsuri Tapes)
"...the duo weave a shimmering tapestry of alien drone, scattering bits of harddrive flotsam across squalls of ringing jetsam. "Improvisational" this recording might be, but aesthetically more than a few chronologically cultural links are forged with pioneer soundscapers of yesteryear (Xenakis, Stockhausen, Babbitt, Subotnick) more so than any straightforward diagrammatical connection with post-jazz avant-gardists... the duo delight in erecting a quakebasket quiverfest of extraordinarily well-articulated electronic music: gently warbling pulses course and murmur as they feint between preening tone clusters and software backwash, a bubbling cauldron of intense sonic energy that is factory resistant to pigeonholing." MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'The Bowls Of Anger' CD (Menstrualrecordings)
"The Bowls Of Anger" is based on Revelation, Chapter 16, Vs 1-21. It is a "...wounded work, lesioned during the altered spring of 2009, using ruinous electronics, a degenerate piano and waves in declay, with the deteriorated participation of Siegmar Fricke.... Extremistic judgments on a grazed world that is worshiping the Wicked One, certain to occur in the last part of the inspected times. It is a dark time for imponderable humanity, and "The Bowls Of Anger" wants to lead our minds towards an unpopular positiveness". Ltd x 200 numbered copies in a 7" sleeve.
MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'The Valley Of Deep Shadow' CD (Menstrualrecordings)
The latest recordings by Maurizio Bianchi are based on Psalm 23. MB surprises us again by changing directed and going into new and unexpected sonic territories. A "sacral sonorization for electro-spiritual keyboards, induced and regulated in the present theocratic year with the pressurized elaboration of Siegmar F". Bleak sonic atmospheres, dark ambient and industrial soundscapes, with cold and distant synths. Ltd x 515 hand-numbered copies in a hard plastic snapcase.
The Italian electronics maestro seems to be still going strong after around 30 years with his latest release. Opener 'Ortini' is like the hazey recollection of a long train journey being put through an analogue filter bank. 'The Inflammatory Sesor' has a kind of feeling of nostalgia or distant memory that recalls William Basinski or The Caretaker. 'Oigada' sounds like two decomposing tape loops slightly out of sync creating a disorientating phasing effect. There are some very absorbing sounds here to get lost in. One for a late night in near darkness. Ltd x 400 copies in a digipak.
Three long and majestic tracks where Maurizio Bianchi's typical deep and reverberated sonorities, full of crepuscular melodies and subtle dissonances, get enriched by more electronic elements and fascinating elaborations, sophisticated manipulations and strong dynamic interventions operated by Cria Cuervos' Three touching compositions built on progressive crescendos and a raging of slow sonic stratifications that lead to real explosions of sounds, drones, pulsations, frequencies, vibrations. A new, magnificent and successful collaborative experience.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI / PETER ANDERSSON / HENRIK NORDVARGR BJORKK / ERIK JARL - 'S.F.A.G. / S.F.A.G. De-Composed' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe)
Reissue of the 1983 cassette on the legendary Broken Flag label. "The modulatory shaking of S.F.A.G is the oxygenating prelude to the irradiating bionic music later developed through works such as “Endometrio” and “Carcinosi” and represents a milestone in my pre-apocalyptic production which later will culminate into the horrid of “Armaghedon”. The exegesis of this work reflects a strong attachment to smooth and round effects of the roughness of the frantic early days, but with a constant preference for the symbiosis between well preordered sound masses and not well defined radio broadcasts, like nebulae drifting in a space in trembling condensation." Digitally remastered by Peter Andersson (Raison D’être). The Original album is accompanied by a second CD with 3 de-compositions using extracts of the original S.F.A.G. recordings, created by 3 well known Nordic industrial artists: Peter Andersson (Raison D'Être), Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412) and Erik Jarl (IRM). Gatefold mini LP sleeve with vinyl-look CDs.
"Age of 369" was originally released on cassette in 1984. The lesser known "Chant 2" is also from this period and complements the sonic intensity of the other. Of further importance is the influence of Maurizio Bianchi (MB) and the mail art that was integral to the industrial underground. These reissues document significant works from Japan's Noise master. Made with a cheap tape recorder and a lot of tape loops, which were then manipulated by hand. "Lowest Music 2" was a very early example of that. Then Merzbow mixed more tape loops with more harsh noise. "Age of 369" (Mlroku No Yo) and "Chant 2" are the finest early examples of that. The Japanese title of "Age of 369" was inspired by the Omoto Cult, founded by Onisabura Degughi. The double CD re-release of "Age of 369" (miroku No Yo) and Chant 2" combines both the music and the Mail Art of this period and is a fitting document of Merzbow In 1984. Australian import. NORD - 'L.S.D.' LP (PCP Records)
This is the reissue of the 1984 LP, originally issued on LSD Records. L.S.D. features rough hewn sheets of ominous yet trippy pulsating textural electronics with an obvious debt to the stark teutonic soundworlds of Kluster and Seesselberg. Any glimmers of transcendence are immediately offset by a deadzone ambience that reeks of Maurizio Bianchi. If this is cosmic, than it's the cosmos as viewed from the vantage point of a burned out cinder drifting into entropy. Nord was, for this recording, legendary Japanese Noise artist Hiroshi Oikawa. Ltd x 500 copies.
Cyclic loops based on static drones, intersected by electronic frequencies algorithmic variations of undefined sonic materials, moved by delays and landscape perspective variations recurring in space, a sequence of metallic waves in a continuous tone variation, heavy dissonance sonic stratification in progressive and pseudo-random composition / decomposition; desolate silences corrupted by resounding echoes of evolving electric rhythmic impulses. Long awaited re-issue of this unbelievable album by Maurizio Bianchi / Sacher-Pelz and Sandro Kaiser / Amun Cell, previously only available on a limited release.

WILL OVER MATTER - 'Lust For Knowledge' CD (Freak Animal)
Finnish project Will Over Matter (Harald Mentor of Ride For Revenge, Total Headfuck) continues its path to new dimensions. Utterly unique approach bordering genius and utterly insane. Making choices that nobody else dares. Will Over Matter's take on esoteric-industrial noise abandons the cliche's of dark ambient / reverb drenched ritual muzak etc. It doesn't sound "retro", yet the approach more in common with Maurizio Bianchi and Musiikkivyöry than contemporary noise.
WOLF EYES - 'Black Wing Over The Sand' CD (iDEAL Recordings / Kning Disk)
"Black Wing Over The Sand" is one long session, that from the very first beginning lays bare the roots of Wolf Eyes: here is an evident presence of the industrial music of the early 1980s with bands such as Throbbing Gristle, Maurizio Bianchi and Gary Mundy’s cassette label Broken Flag. Instead of the harsh dissonances and compact walls of noise Wolf Eyes are well known for, the wholly instrumental piece moves slowly forward over a basis of silence. With oscillating movements, Wolf Eyes conjure up short bursts of noise with screaming high pitched tones where a rhythmic deep and slow bass soon sets in. Electric guitar, echo effects and sweeping sounds creates powerfully nerved effects over the slow rhythm. Ltd x 2000 copies.
This tidy little 7" from Dutch act Zyrtax (aka Johnny Van e Kookwijk of Dead Husbands, Masonic Youth etc) could be inspired by the good old-school Industrial / Experimental of SPK, Esplendor Geometrico and Maurizio Bianchi - representing a constant evolution of 80s loop based industrial into the new millennium. Ltd x 450 copies.
