Tokyo’s Coffins are firmly established as the underground’s leading purveyors of neanderthal paced doomed death metal. Previous releases introduced Coffins’ black tar dirge to an audience eager for slowppressive maniac riffs and songs dragged forth like the arms of a lumbering ape. Derivative and true rather then progressive and new, with an effectiveness unmatched in today’s underground.
Immediately battering the listener with the opening sledgehammer ‘Under The Stench’ the album crawls ever forward through the catchiest Coffins tracks ever. The patented brick heavy guitar tone remains and the band has added some additional solos and high vocal screams, hinted at on 2006’s “The Other Side…” LP. Rather than toy with forced “evolution” Coffins has instead sharpened and honed its devolved sound further in its primitive singlemindedness. Packaged in a Stoughton printed heavyweight gatefold with a printed inner sleeve.

Debut album from this UK Dark Ambient act (not to be confused with the Douglas P. / Tony Wakeford project of the same name). Reactor #4 was the nuclear reactor that exploded within the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Ukraine, in 1986. It was considered to be the worst nuclear disaster in history. The disaster left the city of Prypiat abandoned. To this day the city remains an exclusion zone. The recordings on this album were made to create a soundtrack to the whole era.
10 tracks of dark ambient with sampled voices from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster era, coupled with distorted signals and electronics. "The humming of analogue synths, the use of reverb, the mumbling of buried voices, the cold and desolate nature of this music. One could think of the old Maurizio Bianchi, area 'The Plain Truth', that depicts similar bleak, industrial landscapes" (Vital Weekly).

Kazeria [KZ] means “Hunt” in Spanish. This solo project started in 2008 is lead by Argentinean composer [S]. “Credo Nostrvm” ("Our Creed") has nine tracks inscribed onto a martial, neofolk, neoclassical and dark ambient combination, dealing with some themes that represents [KZ] main topics: the meaning of glory, decadence, eternity, struggle, occult and sacred symbols of forgotten times. A monumental cross-continental collaboration between Canada’s prolific neo-doom duo Nadja and New Zealand’s pitch black droners Black Boned Angel. The two 20+ minutes tracks contained on this self-titled collaboration have a less accessible vibe then the Jesu-like track on last year’s “Christ Send Light” EP. There are no vocals to be heard. They are comprised in equal parts of Nadja’s fuzzed-out, lurching and hazy dream-doom, and BBA’s razor-sharp metallic riff-shards. Extended passages of riff-static noise bleeds one track into the next while deep space eerieness looms ever present in the shadows. Finally the whole thing collapses under the weight of its own self-created black hole. This is the end. Digipak.

The sound occupies a dense space where the heavy, metallic drone sound of Black Boned Angel intersects with the minimalist string arrangements of Phillip Glass and the more ambient doom tendencies of Japan’s Corrupted. With its use of violin textures, the album sounds as much like a classical movement as an art-doom release. In its place is an equally abrasive wall of digital noise made up of hammering beats and high-pitched drilling-tone punishment, over which the trademark dialogues of depravity and sickness are delivered in clipped distortion.
