"Orange" was the first collaboration between the two Canadian drone-doom guitarists Aidan Baker (Nadja) & Eric Quach. After sharing a bill in 2005 with their respective bands, they exchanged files by mail, which were then mixed by Quach in Montreal during the summer of 2006. The result was released as an EP through Quach's imprint (TQA Records). "Orange" is now reissued, re-edited, remastered and extended into a 47 minute CD, with the addition of 4 extra tracks from the same sessions that were left behind five years ago. The fourth installment of “Bach Eingeschaltet” by Canadian guitar-drone hero Aidan Baker (Nadja) is a double-edged sword: his interpretations of the maestro are both the closest to the originals, almost academic in execution, and in the end the most deconstructive. The live arrangement for electric guitar of the famous cello suite 'Prelude' slowly but surely drowns in a mist of effects abuse, while the epic and lush metal-drone version of a menuet is carried away by Nadja-esque lumbering guitar chords in streams of boundless distortion. GENGHIS TRON - 'Board Up The House Remixes Vol. 5' 12" (Crucial Blast)
If Genghis Tron's frayed and sparking mix of aggressive mathcore and electronics wasn't innovative enough, they've embarked on an ambitious multi-label remix project following their first album, "Board Up The House". The three tracks on the fifth and final edition comes wrapped in layers of distortion at once atmospheric and damaging. Half Makeshift is the solo project of Pennsylvania's Nathan Michael. L'anse Amort contains four tracks that expand on the density of his debut "Aphotic Leech", creating more space and reflection, more peaks and valleys. The monumental 17 minute opener "Whale Heart" builds from a simple melody and crackling electro-static to eventually collapse under its own weight in a huge Nadja-esque wall of drone riffery , while other tracks are comparable to Bohren Und Der Club Of Gore.
