20.SV - 'Insects’ CD (Autumn Wind Productions) - £12 / £13 / £14
The black earth feels before it the buzzing noise of a new dawn, the dawn of mankind's fall and the rise of those lurking in the shadows. "Insects" is the second manifestation of the apocalyptic extermination device 20.SV. Taking great pride in crafting the most realistic sounds of extermination from scratch at their most psychologically agonizing nature, 20.SV is firm on transmitting the simulation of your own demise through its genuine Industrialised Post Apocalyptic Bio-Nuclear Radioactive Frequencies. Comes in a shrinkwrapped sleeve.

ALLERSEELEN - 'Neuschwabenland’ CD (Aorta) - £12 / £13 / £14
"The listener is mesmerised by siren-like strings and metallic chimes, that glisten like frozen stalactites in this palace of ice. Sophisticated upbeat numbers veering toward pop territory in terms of its melody and construction, gelid love-songs. The addition of string and brass sections imbues the whole with a sense of subdued tension which acts as the perfect vehicle for Kadmon´s pondering, poetic lyrics. Backdrobs of pulsating bass, sweeping reverberations. Wonderfully expressive violins provide a respite from the cold. As always with Allerseelen, the listener is left feeling enthused and invigorated by a brilliant listening experience. With concepts and music of this quality, Kadmons looks set to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge sounds for years to come." (Judas Kiss)

ASMUS TIETCHENS - 'Zwingburgen des Hedonismus / Mysterien des Hafens’ CD (Die Stadt)
- £12 / £13 / £14
Part 9 of the ongoing re-release series of all early Tietchens albums from 1980-1991 on CD. This combines two seperate releases from 1987 "Zwingburgen des Hedonismus") and 1988 ("Mysterien des Hafens"). 'Zwingburgen..." was originally released as a one-sided LP on Swedish label Multimood and features a single 21 min. long track composed on a Fairlight CMI. "Mysterien..." was part of a split LP (with Die Form) originally released on French label Odd Size and features recordings made by Tietchens using under-water microphones. The bonus track on this CD is a different version of the first track and previously unreleased. 1st edition of 600 copies with a poster booklet also featuring the original album covers.

BRENDAN WALLS - 'Outposts’ LP (Dom Bartwuchs) - £13 / £15 / £17
Brendan Walls' first release as a solo artist since his 2002 album "Cassiafistula. Brendan has been active in the Australian music scene for over 10 years and has also worked with Oren Ambarchi, Greg Turkington, Mirror, Daisuke Suzuki and others. In it's two parts, "Outposts" creates a dream like motion from distant drones of vaguely defined shape, towards totally disembodied sound. The question of what is creating the sounds the listener is perceiving becomes more and more oblivious in the course of listening. Limited to just 300 copies.

C. M. VON HAUSSWOLFF - 'Operations Of Spirit Communication’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
Two unreleased tracks recorded in 2006. This 7" was produced as a natural companion release to the LP release of the same name. It comes in a full colour sleeve reproducing the original artwork of the LP, and continues with the theme of EVP. Limited to 500 copies on clear vinyl.

C. M. VON HAUSSWOLFF - 'Operations Of Spirit Communication’ LP (Die Stadt) - £13 / £15 / £17
Limited repress of the classic album from 2000, which is partly based on (and also dedicated to) the work of Friedrich Jurgenson, who believed he could channel the voices of the dead onto magnetic tape or shortwave radio. The work was originally presented as a sound installation that aspired to achieve communication with other worlds utilising EVP (the installation picks up electrical and radio transmissions: microphones record the noise of electricity, sine wave tones are received, and cameras capture electric behaviour). 50 minutes of seamless dark drone / buzz, gradually getting louder and enveloping the room, even at a low volume. Presented in a stunning, heavy-weight, matt gatefold sleeve. Opaque vinyl, ltd x 300 copies.

COLIN POTTER & THE HAFLER TRIO - 'A Pressed On Sandwich’ CD (Nextera) - £13 / £14 / £15
In 2003, shortly after attending The Hafler Trio performance in Preston called 'How To Slice A Loaf Of Bread', Colin Potter suggested that the two should work together. With McKenzie being in Iceland and Potter being in Preston, a tête-à-tête was not easy. Andrew McKenzie mailed Potter the original source material for the concert, which he happily reworked into 'A Pressed On Sandwich', creating a dark, detailed soundworld that shows off both musicians' approach to drone atmospherics. The CD is packed in special paper wallet with silver print, and is released in an edition of 1010 copies, with the usual exceptional artwork from McKenzie. A solid addition to both The Hafler Trio and Colin Potter discographies.

DAVID JACKMAN - 'Flak' 10" (Die Stadt) - £10 / £12 / £14
An excellent 10" release offering two diverse pieces. Side A is a heavy, densely layered drone piece comprised of harsh, grating sounds all over the sound field, but sliding from start to finish with remarkable constancy. It's a truly beautiful noise, rather like some of Jackman's earlier work as Organum. Side B is a field recording, untreated, unfiltered, recorded outdoors, with a great hiss that is very much present in the mix. This second track seems to comment on the drone piece in a way, acting as an alternative exploration of its theme. Regular edition of 400 copies.

DAVID JACKMAN - 'Machine Guns’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
A 7" that lives up to its title by the enigmatic man from Organum. Just the sound of machine guns. Not very much manipulation. The two tracks were produced using original archive recordings of the Imperial War Museum in London as a sound source. Second edition of 200 copies on black vinyl.

DAVID JACKMAN & PHILIP SANDERSON - 'Terrain' 10" (Die Stadt) - £10 / £12 / £14
Two tracks from early cassette releases. Side A is an alternative version of "Terrain" by Jackman and Sanderson, originally released on the "0 Degrees North" cassette (Aeroplane 1982). With Jackman overdubbing low guttural growls on a steel strung cello and Sanderson programming coffee-percolation on a drum machine, "Terrain" is a lo-fi production that finds its companions in the work of Throbbing Gristle, Hunting Lodge, and the Broken Flag camp of noise. Side B is a solo piece by Jackman, originally released on the 'Adrift' cassette (Snatch Tapes 1981). It is similarly lo-fi with a hypnotic loop of a monochromatic guitar topped with clanging metals and samples from orchestral swells, which have been drained of all color and replaced with a swampy din. Regular edition of 400 copies.

GELSOMINA - 'Nostalghia’ CD (Cipher Productions / Musically Incorrect Records) - £12 / £13 / £14
Finnish act Gelsomina will be instantly recognisable to those with a Freak Animal fetish. This is a re-issue of the Australian legendary cassette from 2004 (Smell The Stench) with a bonus collaborative track from Gelsomina & Grunt. The delicacy of the exterior betrays the horrors within. "Nostalghia" is an hour-long, painful, seething, multi-edged ambient / harsh fucking noise assault! Ltd x 500 copies in a stunning multi-layered and textured A5 booklet.

ILLUSION OF SAFETY & THOMAS KÖNER - 'Untitled’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
Great split release from Chicago's stalwart post-Industrial ensemble Illusion Of Safety and Germany's dronecore specialist Thomas Köner. Illusion Of Safety takes a confrontationist approach by opening their condensed program with a jarring clatter of fragmented film-noir orchestrations that are roughly broken into a nervous drone. Köner's approach is far more subtle, gently pushing forward a sublime drone and allowing it to fade into silence. Released on the occasion of a rare performance that took place on 19 September 2002 at the Lagerhaus, Bremen. Regular edition of 400 copies.

JASON CRUMER - 'Hoss’ CDR (Audiobot) - £6 / £7 / £8
"Dedicated to the memory of good Dark Ambient in North Carolina". Pure, simple, minimalist ambient. One long experimental track recorded a long time ago mixed with a recently-recorded ambient track. Lush and gentle expressions of longing. 'Hoss' has a running time over over 30 minutes. Limited to just 90 copies in a standard PVC sleeve.

JIM O'ROURKE - 'Two Organs’ LP (Three Poplars) - £13 / £15 / £17
The second archive release following great 2003 "Scend" LP. Two pieces for organ composed and performed in 1991 when Jim was finishing his music studies at de Paul University in Chicago. These pieces had almost been forgotten about as Jim's musical interests soon took a change of direction. Only now released for the first time in any format, this LP instantly draws the listener inside this recently imagined timelessness.

JOHN DUNCAN / C. M. VON HAUSWOLFF / LEIF ELGGREN - 'Untitled’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
Released in conjunction with a performance which took place at the Lagerhaus Bremen on 26 September 2003. Exclusive tracks by all three artists. John Duncan's contribution is another fine example of his work with Shortwave sounds and a sort of more aggressive version of his acclaimed 'Phantom Broadcast' CD. C.M. von Hausswolff delivers a spoken word piece for the first time. Leif Elggren's piece is a short but powerful example of his vibrating music. Regular edition of 400 copies in a full-colour foldout sleeve.

JOHN WATERMANN - 'Warmth Is The Fifth Room’ LP (Nightshift Records) - £12 / £14 / £16
Now this is a rare title! The first ever release from this late Brisbane noise artist - and the original Australian pressing from 1988! Dancy electronica / cheesy synth, not particularly experimental! Very reminiscent of the 80's Severed Heads sound. All LPs are in mint and unplayed condition. Very few in stock.

KANIBA - 'The Serpent, The Omega And Completion Of The First Circle ’ CD (Autumn Wind
Productions
) - £12 / £13 / £14
Kaniba's Dark Ambient Presence will absorb and shroud the listener into a reverie... a blanket of fog and mist. Thematically, The Serpent is of the earth and Shub-Niggurath; the womb of all, the grave of all. Life and death, creation and destruction, the alpha and the omega. The Serpent represents the return to the source from whence Kaniba came, as Terrorgoat, and a reflection upon the journey from that moment to what is now. Most of all, The Serpent is the end.

KORA ET LE MECHANIX - 'Excursin’ CD (Nextera) - £12 / £13 / £14
Kora et le Mechanix explore the fields of abstract experimental ambient music. Michal Korán previously played in Richter Band and Forgotten Orchestra of Dreamland, and in 2003 received the Slovak DOSKY award for best score for the theatrical production of Peron. Filip Homola worked previously with Die Archa and Znamení kruhu. Two tracks on the album were recorded at their performance in Prague, January 2006, with Biosphere (certainly an influence on their music, along with The Hafler Trio). Digipak, limited to 1020 copies.

MATHIAS GRASSOW & THOMAS WEISS - 'Conscience’ CD (Nextera) - £12 / £13 / £14
"Conscience: An authority between the human made ego and his creator". Grassow and Weiss present ambient, with a slight touch of experimentalism. Deep washes of synthesizers, with sparse, slow melodies andsome far away, alienated sounds. Grassow and Weiss walk the well-known path of ambient: through a misty forest on an early sunday morning, with a touch of sunlight. A beautiful release with sympathetic artwork.

MICHAEL GIRA - 'Songs For A Dog’ LP (Lumberton Trading Company) - £13 / £15 / £17
Over the years, Michael Gira (Angels Of Light, ex-SWANS etc) has honed his craft into something more sophisticated without actually having lost sight of the power, emotional tugs, or even the simplicity of his earlier works. On 'Songs for a Dog', he has collected ten tracks (mostly culled from releases only available via his website, plus three unreleased tracks), that catch him in his purest form. Mostly built around his guitar and voice in a home studio environment, the songs here expose perfectly how he can function without the layers of sound he's also often fond of exploring. These songs capture an artist who seems forever capable of pushing himself into new avenues. Ltd x 2000 copies in textured packaging, complete with insert and pressed on heavy vinyl.

MICHAEL PRIME - 'Requiem’ LP (Die Stadt) - £13 / £15 / £17
A prolific sound composer and an active member of Morphogenesis, Prime has also collaborated with (among others) David Jackman/Organum, Jim O'Rourke, Eddie Prevost, David Toop and Adam Bohman. He's also one half of Negative Entropy (with G. Feyton of Noise Makers Fifes). "Requiem" is one of his most intense works so far and quite different from his more environmental studies. Limited edition of 700 copies on thick vinyl, in a stunning gatefold sleeve with a textured insert.

NAVICON TORTURE TECHNOLOGIES - 'The Church Of Dead Girls ’ 2 x CD (Malignant Records) -
£16 / £17 / £18
RESTOCK! Having coined the term “Power Romance”, Leech now seeks to refine and solidify the idea into a true sound and vision of his own, once again combining the volatile, highly charged delirium of power electronics with the claustrophobically heavy atmospheres of dark ambient. “The Church of Dead Girls” is a darker and more disturbing journey than any previous NTT release, but is nevertheless rife with the brutal honesty which has begun to permeate every facet of the NTT mindset. The ultimate expression of Power Romance sensibilities, spanning more than two hours of sonic self-evisceration. Packaged in a unique hi-rise digipack. Few in stock – hurry!

NEBELKORONA - 'Reminiszenzen An Das Morgenrot / Relikte Des Abendrotes’ Enhanced CD
(Morningside Records) - £12 / £13 / £14
Nebelkorona is a project of Christoph Ziegler (Vinterriket, Atomtrakt). This is emotional and romantic nature music - a mixture of Medieval, Dark Ambient and Neofolk. The perfect soundtrack for misty autumn nights. Includes an mpeg video for the track "Auf Flügen Des Windes" and comes in a stunning 6-panel glossy digipak with a special slipcase. Released on Spanish label Morningside Records, a sub-division of Drama Company.

OBLIVION ENSEMBLE - 'Seraphim Hallucino’ CD (Malignant Records) - £12 / £13 / £14
Over 11 years in the making (1995-2006), 'Seraphim Hallucino' is widely considered to be Act 2 of the "virtual" opera trilogy begun by Oblivion Ensemble's 1995 release of 'Nightmare: Sinistrotorse'. At Seraphim Hallucino’s source are strange, electro-acoustic improvisations of percussion, trumpet, voice, synthesizers and guitar- sculpted and sampled, twisted and turned, shaped into building and diminishing moments, and, at times appearing alone, pure and unmodified. Deeply imbedded in the music and fragmented lyrics are secrets, intertwining themes, voices, and imprinted messages. All come together to create an enormously complex, mercurial mix of surreal, dynamic and dark sounds. “To fully appreciate the scope and intricacies of ‘Seraphim Hallucino’, headphones in a darkened room are highly recommended”. Released in a stunning 6-panel digipak.

ORA - 'Morgendämmerung’ 10" (Die Stadt) - £10 / £12 / £14
This vinyl only release by Ora features two hauntingly atmospheric tracks from their rare "New Movements In G" release (150 copies) originally released on Darren Tate's own Gnome Records label in 1998, and were not included on the two Ora retrospective CD compilations "Final" and "After The Rainfall" (both on Colin Potter's own ICR label). For these recordings Ora were: Darren Tate, Colin Potter, Lol Coxhill, Daisuke Suzuki on the A-Side 'The Sun Sheds A Golden Tear', and Darren Tate & Colin Potter on the B-Side 'The Impregnable'. A beautiful piece.

ORGANUM - 'Amen’ CD (Die Stadt) - £12 / £13 / £14
The second installment of a short series, which began with the "Sanctus" album issued by Robot Records in January 2006. "Amen - Unto the Aeon of Aeons", is a work of two parts (each track is exactly 20:04 long), using grand piano, Hammond organ, tower bells, gong and voices. This first edition of 600 copies in a nice digipak with stark artwork.

ORGANUM - 'Die Letzte Musik Vor Dem Krieg’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
"Two tracks recorded in 2003 with only a vague hint of the classic Organum sound. The drone material is there, but the sound is slightly similar to The New Blockaders, with the addition of random piano chords. On side two, there is the distorted sound of Tibetan horns added on a similar bed of sounds. It's a distinct break away from the pure Organum drone sound, with an interesting addition of new sounds that especially in 'Happy' works well. David Jackman/Organum still knows how to suprise his followers and is a remarkable conceptualist" [FdW]. Regular edition of 400 copies.

ORGANUM - 'Ein Schwärzeres Schwarz’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £6 / £7 / £8
The two tracks featured here are a further development from the "Die letzte Musik vor dem Krieg" 7". Jackman offers a stately cluster of looped piano chords, with the sustain pedal firmly depressed. Behind this arrangement, very subtle drones flutter in the distanceOne of the best works of Organum yet! Limited edition of 500 copies in a minimalist white sleeve with spot varnishing.

ORPLID - 'Sterbender Satyr’ CD (Auerbach Tonträger) - £12 / £13 / £14
Apart from almost purely acoustic, mostly guitar-based songs, this release sees German Neofolk act Orplid increasingly aiming for more ethereal soundscapes, with "Sterbender Satyr" underlining a development that was already apparent in its predecessor "Nächliche Jünger". A must for those who appreciate the Dark Folk sound of acts like The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath A Cloud, Dies Natalis, Forseti, Sonne Hagal, Waldteufel etc. Presented in a digipak with a 16-page booklet.

PANZAR - 'Pratotypon’ CD (Old Europa Cafe) - £12 / £13 / £14
The harsher and militaristic side of Peter Andersson (Raison D'Être). "Pratotypon" contains all you need: harsh and growling electronic sounds, distorted and transformed beats, noise, danger and blood from the battlefield. Tracks 1-5 were recorded at a rare performance at Pompom in Norrkoping, Sweden. Included in this disc is a remix of the Folkstorm hit 'Victory Or Death'.

SOL INVICTUS - 'Devil's Steed’ CD (Dark Vinyl) - £12 / £13 / £14
RESTOCK! Sol Invictus’s first outing on Dark Vinyl is a nod back in the direction to a more earthy folk sound. Taken from Russian folklore the title track "Steeds For The Devil" concerns suicide, while there are the usual happy Tony Wakeford songs. Two traditional songs get the Sol Invictus treatment - "Twa Corbies" and "Three Knights Came from the West". Philip Larkin’s poem "The North Ship" also becomes the basis for one song. Artwork on this release is from Tor Lundvall, with the first Limited edition coming in a 6 panel luxury digipak.

THE NEW BLOCKADERS & ORGANUM - 'Der Graben’ 7" (Die Stadt) - £5 / £6 / £7
"Der Graben" ("The Ditch") is the final joint release by these two masters of noise / drone. Two unreleased classic TNB / Organum tracks that show all the glory of this collaborative project, which remains unique until today. The two short pieces (just over 3 minutes in total!) are filled with metallic scraping sounds and dissonant noise elements. This second edition of 200 comes without the original picture cover, but in plain black sleeves (with center hole) and pressed on heavy black vinyl.

VERDE - 'Legenda’ CD (Musically Incorrect Records) - £12 / £13 / £14
"Legenda" is the second official CD by Verde, lead by electronics madman Mika Rintala (ex-Circle). "Legenda" is a logical continuum of the 1960's and 1970's wild electronic experiments and general recklessness of Finnish Underground Music, with evident influences of Krautrock heroes Faust, Can, Neu and Amon Düül - and the early Industrial pioneers Nurse With Wound, Throbbing Gristle etc. "The music of Verde is not meant for superficial listening. Verde challenge their listeners instead of trying to please them". Limited edition of 500 copies in a beautiful digipak.

VINTERRIKET - 'Retrospektive’ CD (Nordsturm Productions) - £12 / £13 / £14
Rare and old tracks from this cult black ambient / melancholic / cold synth German act, plus remastered versions of 'Das Winterreich' and 'Nachtfrost'. The CD is limited to 1000 copies and comes with a very dark 16-page booklet in true Vinterriket style!

WOLFGUTS - 'Wolfguts’ CDR (Audiobot) - £6 / £7 / £8
Mutant Ape as you've never heard them before. "Like having your mind chainlocked to a maggot-infested corpse. Blowing yourself up out of utter despair. Depressive waves of turbulent ghosts on the move. Your brain being reduced to the size of an onion inside a wind-tunnel. Surrounded by the beasts of the woods. Beware the sheep in wolves' clothing..." Claustrophobic creep ambience / dark ambient / drone. Ltd x 70 copies in standard PVC sleeve.

Z'EV - 'Production and Decay of Spacial Relations vs. Reproduction and Decay of Spatial Relations’
2 x CD (Die Stadt) - £15 / £17 / £19
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the very first Z'EV studio album, which originally came out on Backlash in 1981. Die Stadt now releases "Production And Decay..." for the first time on CD. It features the original seven tracks from the vinyl plus six 'recodings' entitled "Reproduction and Decay of spatial Relations", made by Z'EV in May/June 2005. This first edition of 500 copies comes with a bonus disc entitled "That Was The Year That Was What It Was", featuring never before released archive material from 1982. Housed in a full-size reproduction of the original LP cover, with a special handmade insert. An essential piece for the Industrial collector!

Z'EV / DAVID LINTON - 'Untitled’ CD (Die Stadt) - £12 / £13 / £14
Released in conjunction with a concert on the 11th November 2006 at the Lagerhaus in Bremen. This CD features exclusive tracks by Industrial music legend Z'EV and New York based percussionist and multi media artist David Linton, who has worked with among others Lee Ranaldo, Glenn Branca, Rhys Chatham, Diamanda Galas, Christian Marclay and Elliot Sharp. Each artist appears with a solo track plus a remix of the other artist.

ZOÄT AON - 'The Triplex Bestial’ CD (Aural Hypnox) - £12 / £13 / £14
A highly dynamic ambient / drone work of aural alchemy depicting the trance and dream of a carnal totem standing between Heaven and Earth, where the unearthly sound of starlight's serpentine arteries winding together with the blackened branches above mingles with the oneiric hisses and crackles of necromantic phantoms and slithering roots below. A barbarous, sonic paradox suggesting the subtle arousal of the ancestry in flesh, a work both soothing and threatening to the intuitive mind. Limited to 1000 copies in a 7" gatefold sleeve. Finnish import.

VARIOUS ARTISTS - 'Triumph Des Todes' CD (Fluttering Dragon) - £12 / £13 / £14
Regular edition of this release. ‘‘Triumph des Todes’’ is a Neofolk / Darkfolk compilation in the making for more than a year. All tracks on this CD are either exclusive or extremely rare (some vinyl only tracks), recorded by such acclaimed artists as Von Thronstahl, Kirlian Camera, Sieben, Belborn, Lux Interna, The Days Of The Trumpet Call, Decadence, Naevus, Ildfrost, Hieronymus Bosch, Leutha, Tronus Abyss, and Lautrec. Finished with a nice thick boolet, with each artist having its own page. Essential!
