The concept of aurally conveying the horror of a gas chamber
was realised through field recordings in an abandoned electrical
power station in Brisbane in 1992. The sounds are grating
and harsh, a mixture of field recordings and electronic manipulations.
One can rarely pinpoint a location or action but the images
the sounds conjure up are of all sorts of nefarious activites
related to death by machinery. The sleeve notes take you into
the horror that is the Calcutta Gas Chamber. A beautifully
composed and produced CD, completely remastered and re-packaged.

from the guitar and this second full CD release shows
Dual exploring rhythms and percussion coaxed from the
guitar while applying various treatments and manipulation.
Although some traditional methods of playing the guitar
have been employed on the recordings of this album the
finished mixes show no real sign of a plucked guitar
string. Drones and textures are interwoven with clicks,
pops and buzz from the electronics with subtle bass
rhythm to create a soundbed of drifting melancholic
ambience. |

derives from the ancient Greek and Hebrew symbols for
fire, water, air and earth, originate from provincial
China. Their music comes with a deep philosophical and
historical origin. The music shifts from ghostly and
heavy Dark Ambient with insane Chinese screams and ramblings,
to guitar-based and percussive pieces, to melancholic
Neoclassical compositions. Also included is a cover
of ‘Forbidden Colours’ by Ryuichi Sakamoto
