"Backwards" was started in 1992, updated considerably between 1993 and 1995, and transferred in 1996 to New Orleans, where it was finished in the magic of the Nothing studios of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). 23 years after its initiation, these tracks have been beautifully preserved by Danny Hyde and are finally available in highest quality audio. This album is the essential bridge between "LSD" and the later "Musik To Play In The Dark" series.

KHOST - 'Corrosive Shroud' CD (CSR211CD) - £10

Shipping: Now
Corrosive Shroud is the second album from Birmingham band Khost, following the 2014 debut Copper Lock Hell. The album has a singular theme: inside the hand-me-down concrete relics in which we necessarily live and from which we draw perceptions. The music is the sound of lightless blocks, oxygen-starved sheds and apparitions, using stark and unrefined found sounds stacked against Khost's massively detuned guitars. The album includes Eugene Robinson of Oxbow and Syan who add their stories to the narrative, along with personnel Jo Quail, Daniel Buess, Gustave Savy and featuring a contribution from Tel Aviv-based Hostage.

In a scene dominated by outsiders, Iron Fist Of The Sun still seems to stand alone. “We Can Yield Our Own Footsteps” sees IFOTS maintain his exemplary, melancholic, cold industrial, with sinister frequencies and tumultuous, mutilated vocals. The album utilises new recording methods and extraordinary, intoxicating song arcs that will leave the listener still hearing and absorbing the album long after it has been filed away. “Follow no-one... yield your own footsteps”.

BIS KAIDAN - '2' SINGLE-SIDED LP (Specific) - £14

The Japanese all-star band is still playing its very own brand of music, perverting the quirkiness of metal influenced idol tunes with a love for shrieking and uncompromising sonic assaults. On this second offering, they deliver 7 brand new renditions of their now typical idol-noise music with a fierce and destructive energy. But then, what else can you expect from HIJOKAIDAN and BiS ("Brand-new idol Society") members? An insane project for fans of Merzbow, Hijokaidan, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Baby Metal. Pressed on a virgin black one-sided, laser-etched vinyl! Ltd x 500 copies.

CONTROLLED BLEEDING & SPARKLE IN GREY - 'Perversions Of The Aging Savant' CD
(Old Bicycle Records / Off) - £11

This work originated from the lasting friendship and the interchange at distance between the Italian Matteo Uggeri of Sparkle in Grey and Controlled Bleeding's Paul Lemos. On the one hand, we have the well-known eclecticism of Controlled Bleeding, ranging from guitar based prog rock, to rough industrial-noise excursions, or to jazzy improvisations. On the other hand,Sparke In Grey provide a poignant chamber lieder with neoclassical aplomb, gradually built from sparse notes of piano and a mournful violin, among mysterious choral breaths and subterranean cacophonies. The two projects also reveal a common and latent inclination towards dub, besides the propensity to explore different routes, aerial and solar but also misty and labyrinthine, often in a improvisational mode. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

DEISON & MATTEO UGGERI - 'In The Other House' LP
(Old Bicycle Records / Final Muzik / Loud! / Oak Editions / Grey Sparkle) - £12

The album is intended to be a auditory portrait of an imaginary house and the presences within it, room by room. This strangely beautiful work is easily one of my favourite dark-ambient themed releases of the year. What is truly remarkable is that the pair never actually physically met in the process of recording the album. Deison and Uggeri have stumbled upon a style similar to the "acoustic doom" of Erik Skodvin's Svarte Greiner, an approach to creating dark ambient sounds that organically stirs powerful emotions in the listener precisely because it is not static or weighed-down - rather, it is defined by the frenetic passage of acoustic details over a steadily ebbing electronic drone. As with much electro-acoustic music, the super-realist sonic clash at the heart of the work carries us deep into the realm of the psychological. Whichever room's buried secrets recall the imagery of your dreams, In the Other House comes highly recommended to those on the lookout for highly imaginative and organically beautiful dark ambient" (Foreign Accents). Ltd x 250 copies.

DEISON & MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Black Panorama' CD (Final Muzik) - £10.50

The meeting of 2 Italian Industrial minds and, according to the label, "one of the best Maurizio Bianchi collaboration works and one of the best Deison albums. Period". This is music for black landscapes: swirling ambient / industrial soundscapes. "Prologue: The title can already say a lot of contents. When we see ahead of us a view from the inside and we see another, the two views collide and according to our state of mind we can see a negative panorama or a more positive one. That’s why this work will help us to regain our peace of mind or to lose it forever, while remaining unchanged the view before us" (Maurizio Bianchi). Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

GIANCARLO TONIUTTI & TIZIANO DOMINIGHINI - 'Counterchronology' CD (Final Muzik) - £10.50

Free electro-acoustic compositions, using various instruments and noises. Recovered and mixed by Giancarlo Toniutti in 2014. Ltd x 300 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

GNAW THEIR TONGUES - 'Abyss Of Longing Throats' CD (Crucial Blast) - £11

With their brand new album, Gnaw Their Tongues has returned in full ravenous glory, offering another hellish cacophony of mangled industrial black metal, lurching deformed heaviness, twisted electronic carnage and bombastic orchestral power that sounds like no one else. There's plenty of the grueling industrialised heaviness and violent orchestral sounds the band is known for, but this new material also expands upon the filthy blackened doom at the heart of GTT's music, with those moments of striking melodic power; moments where all the horror surging through these songs suddenly transforms into something hauntingly elegiac. Brief passages of tragic beauty, scattered throughout an abyss roiling with relentless programmed blastbeats, somber chamber strings hovering mournfully amid tortured shrieks, harsh clanking percussion and blasts of raging orchestral chaos, all writhing together into another exhilarating descent into total demonic delirium from this monstrous outfit. Digipak.

GNAW THEIR TONGUES - 'Collected Attrocities 2005-2008' 2 x CD (Crucial Blast) - £12.50

For nearly a decade, Dutch avant-black/doom entity, Gnaw Their Tongues (aka Mories of Cloak of Altering, De Magia Veterum, Aderlating, Mors Sonat and more) has been infecting the underground with a uniquely disturbing brand of chaotic heaviness. Fusing together malevolent, rumbling doom with rabid, noise-damaged aggression and blasts of fearsome orchestral power and industrial pandemonium, and draping these lurching, hellish dirges in an oppressive atmosphere thick with horror and despair, the intensely nightmarish music of GTT defies easy categorisation. This 2CD anthology gathers together essential, out-of-print early recordings spanning the first three years of GTT's existence, compiling early out-of-print EPs, compilations, and other rarities from the bowels of the GTT archive. Double digipak.

K2 / CONSTRAIN / FENIAN - 'K2 / Constrain / Fenian' MCD (Oxen) - £9.50

One solo track from each artist, plus one three way collaboration. K2's track is a fluid, propulsive unmistakable shuddering masterclass soaking in layers of frenzy. Constrain's expertly delivered blasts of harsh electronics providing once again ample evidence that KDM is a master of static assault textures. Fenian's electronics meet glass smash, unrepentant harsh noise careens across multiple lanes of sonic blacktop. The finale is a brain bending collaboration track, using de-composed sounds... a track overflowing with petulant dissonance and the repeated lightning strike of shuddering rubble blasts, culminating in a pristine surge assault of cut-up harsh noise protocol. 45 minutes of music.

LEGION OF ANDROMEDA - 'Iron Scorn' CD (Crucial Blast) - £11

Diabolical in its minimalist approach, the new album from Tokyo-based duo Legion Of Andromeda unleashes a grinding nightmare of violent, industrial doom-death rooted in a barbaric simplicity, moving in endlessly cyclical percussive patterns. Legion Of Andromeda have hacked out a uniquely vicious sound, and shares as much disgusting DNA with the grinding industrial metal of bands like Dead World, Skin Chamber and Streetcleaner-era Godflesh as it does with the putrescent doom/death of Autopsy, Cianide and Asphyx, brilliantly fusing the devastating down-tuned chug of the latter to the repetitive, belt-driven clangor of the former, each monstrous track churning through the black cosmos like a mechanical warbeast comprised of gnashing teeth and interlocking gears, terrifying and trance-inducing, with equal nods to the heaviest strains of industrial metal and the most primitive depths of black/death violence. Digisleeve.

LISFRANK - 'Elevator' LP (Final Muzik) - £13

One of the most important names in Italian new wave through the decades: his unique sound made of electronic synth music, new wave and dark atmospheres remained fresh, original and innovative even after 30 years. Fulvio Guidarelli began to record new songs in 2008, working on them until 2012. The fabulous result is "Elevator", Lisfrank's comeback album after 32 years! Consisting of ten new songs with a warm variety of sound that is quite far from the classic standards of the minimal-synth trend: anthemic synth-wave tracks, melancholic dark electro 'ballads', thrilling instrumental pieces and much more, all recorded using analogue instruments from the 80's. A must have for new wave, electronic and minimal synth fans. Ltd x 500 copies on red vinyl.

All LP/12" Vinyl

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Noise-O-Rama' CD (Final Muzik) - £10.50

First official press of early Maurizio Bianchi's private early 80's cassette tape (Murder Release 30). A good example of Bianchi’s sonic extremity. Originally a 90 minute cassette that spliced together a collage of MB tracks that had appeared on various mail art and noise compilations, this is an overload of shivering electronics smothered by leaden gas and occasionally punctured by searing shards of white noise. Ltd x 200 copies in a gatefold digisleeve.

OUROBOROS - 'Suspiria De Profundis' 7" (Neve) - £7

Ouroboros is an Italian dark ambient project heavily rooted in the occult and esoteric. This EP features founder Marco Grosso, with Luna FP on vocals and Johan Levin (Desiderii Marginis) providing cinematic drones and additional sounds. All concepts are taken from the book "Suspiri De Profundis" by Thomas De Quincey, and also inspired by Dario Agento's horror film trilogy: "Suspiria", "Inferno", and "L Terza Madre". Mastered by Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre). Ltd x 250 copies on bone coloured vinyl with 2 inserts.

All 7" Vinyl

PAUL BEAUCHAMP - 'Pondfire' LP (Old Bicycle Records) - £12

"Pondfire", the debut solo album of Blind Cave Salamander’s Paul Beauchamp, is built on memories of this childhood on his grandfather's farm in Muddy Creek, North Carolina. Beauchamp works with broad strokes - sweeping, watery synth textures and ringing drones often form an eerie call and response. There is a certain starry-eyed spookiness to the voices of analogue synths. The pieces are minimal, but they were fleshed out with a cold and metallic palette to give them an otherwordly timbre. The imagery that comes to mind time and time again is of a boy stargazing in a cool forest by a pond, in silence. Recommended to fans of deep ambient and electro-acoustic sounds.

GULAGGH - 'Vorkuta' CD (Crucial Blast) - £11

First released by New Era Productions (2009), Crucial Blast give this demonic, disturbing album a welcome CD reissue. From the ashes of Stalaggh begins the Gulaggh trilogy. A soulripping piece of audio terror. The most disturbing piece so far by these musical avant-garders. This time they used mostly classical instruments (violins, trumpets, saxophones etc). For vocals they used more mental patients than ever before, including over 30 screaming children from a Youth Mental Hospital! Black digipak with silver print.

HAL HUTCHINSON - 'Wreckage Installations & Metalworks' CD (Crucial Blast) - £11

The dense, brutally forceful metalscapes this UK noisemaker (also of Pollutive Static) crafts follow a tradition of metal manipulation previously examined by Japanese noisician K2 and Canadian artist Knurl, but Hutchinson employs a unique approach to assembling and layering his recordings of chains, pipes, sheet metal, metal barrels, and other metallic objects being smashed and dragged and beaten. A cacophony of skull-scraping clatter is transformed into something far more complex, as his "Factory" method blends these sounds together into a strangely structured colossus of entropic industrial pandemonium. Seven immense noisescapes and blasts of orchestrated machine-shop annihilation. Ltd x 400 copies in a DVD case including a booklet with liner notes, and a set of six double-sided black-and-white photo prints.

NOISE RECEPTOR - '#3' Magazine - £8.50

Third issue of this impressive magazine. Features in-depth interviews with: Wertham, Alfarmania / Survival Unit, Puce Mary, Aischrolatreia, Fieldwork and a special Genocide Organ profile. Also features 12 pages of exclusive artwork by Kristian Olsson, plus a large section of in-depth music reviews (ambient / industrial / experimental / power electronics etc). 112pp, A5, perfect bound with professional greyscale print. Almost twice as big as the last issue. Limited 500 run. Highly recommended!

T.O.M.B. - 'Pennhurst / Xesse' CD (Crucial Blast) - £11

"Pennhurst / Xesse" is a new collection of rare material from the shadowy black industrial outfit T.O.M.B., featuring their ultra-limited "Pennhurst" album and the tracks from the one-sided "Xesse" 12", previously released on Prison Tatt. Featuring all new artwork and presented in a six-panel digipak, this full-length disc delivers over an hour's worth of the band's bizarre brand of vile electro-acoustic noisescapes, oppressive industrial drift, ultra-heavy drones, and ghoulish vocalisations seemingly dredged up from the dank black bowels of some long-abandoned mausoleum. Comes in a 6-panel digipak.
