PHRAGMENTS - 'New Kings And New Queens' CD (Malignant Records)

The first new release from Phragments since 2008’s "Earth Shall Not Cover Their Blood" should be looked upon as a special, stand alone release, devoted not to the more daunting neoclassical atmospheres that make up the majority of Phragments' discography, but to something much darker and abstract. One long track, broken up into 6 chapters of slowly evolving landscapes of black and grey drones, sparsely interrupted by orchestral swells of golden light. And while this is indeed a more minimalistic approach to recording for Matej, in typical fashion, it is also very detailed and painstakingly composed, flowing seamlessly from one point to another over its 32 minute time frame. In terms of genre, this is pure orchestral dark ambient - bleak and solemn, yet with a certain calmness and emotionality, becoming almost sacral and poignant as it unfolds. Limited repress of this classic album from 1995. Deleted for more than 10 years, now re-released in the re-mastered version of 2002, with 1 bonus track "Manic Depression II"), previously available on vinyl only. Considered to be one of the founding forefathers of the Gothic Movement Rozz Williams had in fact made a wide variety of stylistic musical moves throughout his impressive career until he died in 1998. Emerging from the wreckage of Christian Death, he went on to form industrial pioneers Premature Ejaculation and and the more conventionally gothic Shadow Project. Gitane Demone joined Christian Death from 1983-1989. "Dream Home Heartache" is by far the most impressive work by Gitane Demone and Rozz Williams. Feeling that their past work bound them in a gothic straight-jacket, the duo felt the need to expand. The result was "Dream Home Heartache", a breathtaking album with melancholic ballads, piano and a very smooth, jazzy atmosphere. Ltd x 500 copies. |

During their work on the sold-out 10 year jubilee 8LP boxset, the Austrian pioneers of Alpine Folk Music created this Dark-Psychedelic collection of scary tales around the holy mount Untersberg. Legends telling about people who went inside the hollow mountain, to visit Kaiser Karl and his folks living/sleeping there, waiting for the end of days to fight the final battle. In most of these tales the visitors were only a few hours or days inside the mountain and his inside castles and monasteries, but when they returned to the outer world (IF they ever returned), many years had passed - this phenomenon is called "Bergentrückung". Don't expect the Sturmpercht-typical nice fairietales, beautiful Folk songs or joyful drinking hymns

Turnavel is a Spanish project, born in 2003. It has developed wide range of mainly neoclassical soundscapes which sometimes draw inspiration from other media, such as films, painting or literature, usually related to oneiric or symbolic subjects and addressed to the imagination of the listener. Belgian poet and Symbolist Maurice Maeterlinck compared the unconscious to an unfathomable ocean scarcely illuminated by a dim phosphorescence. "Unbewusste" is a kind of promenade through it, along a series of diverse soundscapes that could serve as scenery for an ecstatic duel between the Muse and the inexorable scythe of Saturn.

“Vindicta”, is the first chapter of a trilogy focusing on grim/tragic aspects of Sardinian culture, recorded by UNCODIFIED (Corrado Altieri of Candor Chasma, Monosonik), and WERTHAM (Marco Deplano of Foresta di Ferro). Based on true stories, 8 tracks of uncompromising power electronics, composed mostly of abrasive high/mid frequencies with a strongly analogue feel, harsh explosions, pulsating structures, full frontal angry vocals, extensive use of on-theme samples and a couple of more atmospheric/industrial tracks, in an attempt to blend the two projects’ sounds to create a soundtrack for the everlasting blood feuds between families. The first (untitled) Lustmord album, originally released on Sterile Records in 1982. The earliest Lustmord recordings show the project's industrial roots with a sound not far from Throbbing Gristle. This record incomparably represents art, ideology, uncompromising consequence and sound tactical proceeding of one of the most interesting, still existing members of the industrial music movement.
