Astro’s endeavours seem to marry Japanese harsh noise conventions with more psychedelically charged sounds, throwing together a blistering arsenal of noise signals. There is a veil of reverb that drenches the whole EP into a kind of wet and saturated mass, but in the evel of detail, it's fast electronic noise. There is distortion, electronics, and synth, but basically only the echo takes the atmosphere closer to old oscillation wave Astro. This is great noise! Ltd x 200 copies.

Saison De Rouille (Season of Rust) was created in 2011, born from the meeting of Karl S. (Danishmendt) and D. Sébastyén (Opium Dream Estate). The project combines the best industrial elements from Swans, Godflesh and early Young Gods: heavy percussion, gravelly vocals, harsh as the land they are talking about, creeping guitars, and melancholic violins. The musicians have created strong and evocative music, the violin slithers like rays of pale light in a claustrophobic universe claustrophobic. In essence, SdR is a collaborative project and polymorphic. For the debut, Flo L. (Danishmendt), Benoit C. (Xnoybis), PH (piaytche.com) and Christian K (Valborg) participated. The project title and the title, "Caduta dei Gravi" (The Falling Bodies), summarize the universe of the first cycle composed and recorded between September 2011 and March 2012. Lark Blames was founded in 2005 by Lloyd James (Naevus) and Marc Blackie (Sleeping Pictures). "Rituals For The Dying," was a primer for the LP "Kinetic," which has been described as a mixture of dark ambient soundscapes with hypnotic drum patterns.
Starfish Pool is more than likely to gain more appreciation with a packed dance floor that is ready to absorb the dark and protruding beats emanating from this slab of wax.
With an industrial-techno backbone that is reminiscent of the (older) Detroit "sound," one might think that Starfish Pool are trying to recreate that style.
However, with Koen's minimal approach and harsh sound-structures unfold a new chapter for smooth atmospheric noise. Each side ends in a locked groove. |
