Though the plans were made a while ago, it took some time before Michel Banabila and Rutger Zuydervelt actually started working on music together. But once they did, they quickly got caught up in an unstoppable workflow. Swapping files back and forth, layering and processing eachother's sounds, it immediately felt like a match made in heaven. In an incredibly short, though highly inspiring time span, this album was created. A 40+ minute journey through warm drones, mysterious crackling and outbursts of digital noise, with the tracks joined, making it one uninterupted trip. Matt-laminate digipak with photography by Banabila and design by Zuydervelt.

"There is so much material in the vaults, we could easily have made this a 3 or 4-CD package. Richard Bosse's music is unique. Bosse builds tiny walls of guitars that become towers of aching beauty and restraint, at times recalling the majesty of Ulver or Drudkh. An exploration of solitude and loneliness spiralling into works of immense beauty and resonance. Echoes of neoclassicism, post-rock grandeur, medieval madrigals, and elegiac psych folk are all woven into a drunken mesh of lament and hushed loveliness, guitars clouding over with melodious drones and glacial washes of darkened ambience.

"When two labels asked me to release material on lathe cut singles, I knew this would be perfect for the music I was working on. The length limitation of a 7" worked nicely for these pieces, creating to-the-point, rounded off stories in barely four minutes, with no room for bullshit. Music that's in a way simple but effective". Those tracks are now compiled on CD, with the extra benefit of them having much better sound quality than the lathes, plus two bonus tracks, delivering a coherent listening experience. All tracks were previously released on 7" lathe cuts except 'Stroop', which appeared on the compilation 'Antibothis 4'. Digisleeve.

D. Smolken (also of Dead Raven Choir) returns to the God is Myth stable in the form of his slow, grim and noisy chamber doom outfit Wolfmangler. With the spirit of past Wolfmangler releases where covers of folk songs, classical music pieces and jazz standards are the main lifeblood, this latest work entitled "They Call Us Naughty Wolves" is the band's unique take on pop music from yesteryear. The results are very much reminiscent of a blackened burlesque chamber ensemble funnelled through a broken radio in a post-apocalyptic wasteland picking up distorted pieces of hits from the 1930s. |
