"Stealth" presents itself as an exploration of sounds neither here nor there, textures camouflaged against their own background noise, and the distant crackling telemetric code-speak of a vague humanity hidden behind a cloak of deadly high-technology. Five deeply-layered extended tracks, mixed and edited from re-sampled location recordings originally captured inside the hangar environs of a Northrop-Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber, during a period of downtime maintenance at a U.S. Air Force base in Cambridgeshire. Original field recordings and texture preparations by FOURM / Si_Comm.
First edition pressing of 1000 copies includes bonus disc comprised of this *pre-mix* material in its original, un-edited form, as a representation of the source audio from which "Stealth" was reconstituted.

KURBONSHO - 'Vahan Songs' CD (Vegvisir Music)

The disc contains unique ethnographic field recordings made by Andrei Komarov (Vishudha Kali), during an expedition to the Pamirs in 2004. One of the goals of this expedition was to study the musical traditions of the Pamir highlands. Here he discovered the most outstanding poet and musician, Kurbonsho. The village in which he lived is a wild place on Vakhania (Afghan gap) with no electricity and extremely difficult access. Although local residents claimed that he was unlikely to agree to sing, Kali still managed to record his primordial folklore music, which is represented on this disc. Kurbonsho died In 2008. Beautiful lyrical melodies (sung in Devanagari) with smooth transitions and flowing vocals - the music is clear and unprepared for the European organic ear. Ltd x 700 copies in a 20-page A5 digibook.

In 2009, as part of the ‘All Around You’ season of sonic events at The Cube, Simon Whetham was invited to produce a site-specific work for a half-derelict shopping centre called ‘The Mall’ in Bristol. He explored the space with various microphones and techniques to uncover sounds not normally heard by the shopping public. "Memories of childhood visits portrayed the shopping centre as a crammed and noisy place, every shop a brightly lit shrine, drawing in it’s worshippers… On returning to The Mall, it was apparent that the current recession had hit hard, with almost half the units with their shutters down, possibly never to open again. The seemingly empty drones of the various processes that keep a structure like this alive could be heard over the scattering of shoppers. Behind the scenes, the drones become more musical and tonal, singing a lament to the financial situation and to better times. Mania is Texan Keith Brewer (Taint, Sonic Sadist etc). Mania seems to be almost wholly focused on distilling violence, warfare, murder, and, more than anything else, the brutal power of firearms into blasts of twisted, ultraviolent Power Electronics. The sound isn't all that far removed from Taint, but on "Armed To The Teeth", Brewer lays a 35 minute track of scorching distortion, clanging metal percussion, harsh vocals that are treated with an overload of psychedelic effects and screeching, punishing waves of feedback that is then cut with interludes of recordings captured from weapons training presentations, shootings, and firing ranges. It's a weird mix of sounds, but if you've got a rotten tooth for this kind of grating speaker perversion, Mania brings it really harsh.
