  Boyd Rice / Z'EV / VinylLP BOYD RICE & Z'EV - 'Untitled' 12" (Cold Spring CSR105EP)

(2008) This stunning 12" brings together two long-time San Francisco friends and legends of the Industrial music scene, both active since the late 70s! Boyd Rice is well-known for his project NON and for his collaborations with Death In June, Rose McDowall, Coil and Tony Wakeford to name but a few. Z'EV is a prolific composer and conceptual artist, who utilises metal percussion and electronics to create mystical rhythmajik - and who is also known for his collaborations with hard-hitters such as Stephen O'Malley, Oren Ambarchi, Psychic TV, KK Null, Organum and many more. Two lengthy and exclusive tracks! Ltd x 1000 copies on marbled vinyl.

  Hati / Z'EV HATI Vs Z'EV - '#1' CD (Ars Benevola Mater)

(2006) A sensational collaboration between HATI & Z'EV, the unique Rythmajick’s master. Here the sound-qabalhist melts some raw audio-material provided by Hati in order to condense approx. 50 minutes of AL-chemical sounds. Hati are a great Polish duo playing inspired psych-ambient soundscapes mixing gongs, metal discs, aluminium bars with wooden pipes, animal horns and trumpets. Well-known percussionist Z'EV edited and treated Hati’s tracks (originally recorded in 2003). His rhythmajickal remix creates structures with a long range of mystical drones. Highly recommended to true experimental magick-percussive industrial music-lovers! Ltd x 950 copies in out-sized package with 2 postcards.

Herbst 9 / ZEV HERBST9 Vs Z'EV - 'Through Bleak Landscapes' CD (Loki Foundation)

(2007) With this stunning collaboration the dark cavernous drones and ethnic-ritual instrumentation of Herbst9 melts with the complex and percussive sounds of industrial pioneer and master of rhythmajik Z'EV. Ten tracks of deep spheres and blazing ruminant lightnings abducting you into golden constellations and swirling worlds full of aural effects and demonic resonance. Both projects worked with raw material of each other while the final mix was made by Herbst9. The result is a sombre and meditative soundtrack. An impressive and gripping journey through bleak landscapes and abandoned places accompanied by a 24-page booklet.

Oren Ambarchi / ZEV OREN AMBARCHI & Z'EV - 'Spirit Transform Me' CD (Tzadik)

With Oren Ambarachi (Gravetemple, Burial Chamber, Sunn O))) etc) on guitar, vibraphone, viola, tubular bells and Z'EV on percussion, the two celebrate radical Jewish Culture with a hypnotic series of three pieces that are explore the hidden Qabalhistic meaning of the Hebrew Alphabet in it's mystical glory. Don't be put off by the portentous and deeply serious subject matter, the music involved here has that same incredible spooky crypt-floor dustiness sound that Sunn O))) often have, but the sound, minus the electric guitar heaviness, has an abstract hypnotising and warm feel with a mystical depth and dignity all of its own that uncoils over the three lengthy tracks. Jewelcase with obi strip.

  Organum / ZEV ORGANUM / Z'EV - 'Tocsin -6 Thru +2' CD (Die Stadt)

Following "Tinnitus Vu" (Touch, 2004), "Tocsin" is the first full length album by these two renowned sound artists. Whereas Z'EV simply reworked already existing work by Jackman for "Tinnitus Vu", this time the artists agreed to both meet in the studio for "Tocsin". They created and recorded sounds from a piano and a stainless steel piece built by Z'EV circa 1989, over the course of several hours, took the recordings home, and after a period of each one mixing these sounds by themselves came up with what can be heard on this CD. Two distinctively different works by both artists which form a multilayered and fascinating album. Design by Jonathan Coleclough. Edition of 600 copies in full colour 4 panel digisleeve.

Osso Exótico / ZEV OSSO EXOTICO & Z'EV - 'Osso Exotico & Z'EV' CD (Crouton)

Portuguese avant-garde ensemble Osso Exótico have created a stunning body of work since 1989 (current members being André Maranha, David Maranha and Patricia Machás). With very little history to be found about the band, the music speaks for itself. Percussionist Z’EV, who has spent the better part of 40 years finding ways to coax sound out of material, and then creating a mystic cacaphony out of it, also uses sound as communication. Together, this grouping produces quite a statement, as sound becomes something unexplained by words, yet shared as an experience. This isn’t glassine drone music. It spews the grit of Tony Conrad and the trance of Terry Riley, while radiating the experience of a sweat lodge in a behemoth explosion of tribal minimalism. With no sound processing, the result is a highly natural, grossly enigmatic, and deeply energised recording. The power is yours for the taking. Released in an edition of 500 and packaged in an offset printed chipboard envelope.

Ramona Ponzini / ZEV RAMONA PONZINI & Z'EV - 'Ankoku' CD (A Silent Place)

Ramona's personal touch is certainly her own particular Japanese chant, together with the use of traditional percussion, bells and cymbals from Japan. Z'EV, enchanted by all those elements, asked Ramona for this cooperation. "Ankoku" is a Japanese word which means "deep darkness". For this debut Ramona's voice and percussion was processed by My Cat Is An Alien in their mysterious studio, placed somewhere in Western Alps, adding some field recordings. Those recordings were then sent to Z'EV who has processed them with some of his typical percussion. Z'EV deconstructed the sweetness of Ramona's chants, enfolding the pieces with a darker atmosphere. 5 obscure tracks, structured on charming vocal melodies moving out from a "haunted house". Digifile.

  Stephen O'Malley / Z'EV SOMA & Z'EV - 'Magistral' CD (Southern Lord)

Collaboration between prolific drone guitarist Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), KTL, Æthenor, Burning Witch etc) and Industrial pionier and master of rhythmajik, Z'EV. 'Magistral' offers up a disc’s worth of Z'EV's composing / processing of Stephen O’Malley’s solo guitar drone. "The sounds on offer run the gamut from shimmering metallic drones and abysmally deep bass rumbles to abrasive, scraping industrial noise, inviting comparison to blackened ambient acts like Archon Satani and Sistrenatus, as well as to Z’EV’s similar collaborative album with Polish drone act Hati... An absorbing and intricate piece of work that repays repeated listenings" (Judas Kiss). Ltd x 2000 copies in a hardback gatefold jacket.

ZEV Z'EV - 'Forwaard' CD (Korm Plastics)

For almost forty years Z'EV has been at the absolute forefront of experimental music. Throught playing percussive ritual music he gained a lot of well-earned attention, but in more recent years he has returned to working with electronic tape manipulation. On 'Forwaard' he uses field recordings made by Frans De Waard, which are 'recoded' by Z'EV into a 40-minute, densely layered pattern of musique concrete. Many of the water-like sounds disappear in the recoded version and makes a particularly strong work. Outsized sleeve.

These recordings which are 'recoded' by Z'EV into a 40-minute, densely layered pattern of musique concrete.   Z'EV / F López Z'EV / FRANCISCO LOPEZ - 'Buzzin Fly / Dormant Spores' CD (Black Rose Recordings / Lapilli)

A sensational collaboration between Z'EV, one of the forefathers of Industrial music, and renowned Spanish artist Francisco Lopez. Z'EV's "Buzzin Fly" (in memory of Tim Buckley) is a full spectrum 32 minute piece full of dynamic movements, sonic worlds and can be described as oceanic in feel. Lopez's "Dormant spores" takes 40 minutes to run it's course, and is perhaps a more meditative piece than Z'EV's, but no less challenging. Lopez skillfully crafts minimalist hypnotics that can be as destructive to delicate eardrums as they are captivating. Both works complement each other and form a powerful album.
