For almost forty years Z'EV has been at the absolute forefront of experimental music. Throught playing percussive ritual music he gained a lot of well-earned attention, but in more recent years he has returned to working with electronic tape manipulation. On 'Forwaard' he uses field recordings made by Frans De Waard, which are 'recoded' by Z'EV into a 40-minute, densely layered pattern of musique concrete. Many of the water-like sounds disappear in the recoded version and makes a particularly strong work. Outsized sleeve.
Beginning with the 2007 release 'Forwaard', rhythmajikal percussionist Z'EV continues his collaborations with Frans De Waard in the form of the latest installment, 'Outwaard'. Whereas the sound sources used on 'Forwaard' where of a varying nature, on 'Outwaard' they were all made at a petting zoo in Kleve, Germany. These recordings which are 'recoded' by Z'EV into a 40-minute, densely layered pattern of musique concrete. Many of the animal call like sounds disappear in the 'recoded' version and makes a particular strong work, but occasionally one returns and leaves a no less than haunting listening experience. Ltd x 300 in outsized sleeve.

Z'EV / FRANCISCO LOPEZ - 'Buzzin Fly / Dormant Spores' CD (Black Rose Recordings / Lapilli)
A sensational collaboration between Z'EV, one of the forefathers of Industrial music, and renowned Spanish artist Francisco Lopez. Z'EV's "Buzzin Fly" (in memory of Tim Buckley) is a full spectrum 32 minute piece full of dynamic movements, sonic worlds and can be described as oceanic in feel. Lopez's "Dormant spores" takes 40 minutes to run it's course, and is perhaps a more meditative piece than Z'EV's, but no less challenging. Lopez skillfully crafts minimalist hypnotics that can be as destructive to delicate eardrums as they are captivating. Both works complement each other and form a powerful album.

ZLYE KUKLY - 'Strange Tomorrow' CD (Ahnstern)
First official album by this unique Russian Folk band, based in Jerusalem. Dreamingly beautiful, sad and at the same time weird and progressive Folk songs with a gentle early 70's touch. The powerful and empathetic (Russian) vocals give a very personal and unique touch to the music of Zlye Kukly. This band is hard to compare to other artists; maybe reminding of the best Folk from Gae Bolg, or the best ballads of Boyd Rice, but mainly the great early 70's era of Yugoslavian folk artists, such as Kladivo Konj in Voda, Svremena na Vreme, Drugi Nacin and others.

ZOAT AON - 'Star Autopsy' CD (Aural Hypnox)
'Star Autopsy' presents nine multi-dimensional dark ambient tracks which range from radiant textures, mesmerizing, swirling soundscapes to dense, crushing walls of sound and hidden abstract melodies. By using conventional instruments, various sound generating devices, vocals and other carefully chosen sonic objects Zoät Aon manages to create an unique, dynamic and truly enigmatic, expansive atmosphere that continuously spirals further towards the unknown areas of consciousness. Comes in an 6 panel cardboard covers with evocative silver-coloured graphics. Beautiful piece and highly recommended! Ltd x 1000.
ZOAT AON - 'The Triplex Bestial' CD (Aural Hypnox)
A highly dynamic ambient / drone work of aural alchemy depicting the trance and dream of a carnal totem standing between Heaven and Earth, where the unearthly sound of starlight's serpentine arteries winding together with the blackened branches above mingles with the oneiric hisses and crackles of necromantic phantoms and slithering roots below. A barbarous, sonic paradox suggesting the subtle arousal of the ancestry in flesh, a work both soothing and threatening to the intuitive mind. Limited to 1000 copies in a 7" gatefold sleeve. Finnish import.
Third full album for Zonk't, following his remarkable "Itching" on Brume Records. This French act (former member of Nox) presents another very well-written album made of ultra-deep basses, flowing atmospheres, small clicks'n'cuts, and a rather massive sound. Ranging from smooth, minimal dub pulses to drone-oriented, ultra-deep bass, "Purr" takes distilled techno under the microscope and well below freezing with its infinitesimal examination of slow-motion electronic minimalism. It is a work of astonishingly deep character, with an undeniable undercurrent of unease.
