A mesmerizing evening of sound and image with an improv group paying tribute to the landmark avant-garde films of Stan Brakhage. The prolific Brakhage (1933-2003) produced nearly 400 experimental "light poems" that were largely hypnotic explorations of light, image, and distortion. The live concert soundtrack for this event (26 May 2005, Auditorium Concordia, Pordenone, Italy) was led by Sonic Youth's guitarist Lee Ranaldo and also includes percussionist Tim Barnes, guitarist Alan Licht and Berlin-based saxophonist Ulrich Krieger (Zerfall_Gebiete). TGVT have been around for some years, but this three track 10" on the highly sought after POWER & STEEL label, is the first they've released in four years.
