(2005) Following the successful BBC series, this new CD recorded in summer 2005 features 31 pieces of music specially composed for films from the Mitchell & Kenyon Collection. The films bring forth an unparralled visual record of life in the North of England and in Scotland, Wales and Ireland and bring to life as never before the bustling streets of Edwardian Britain, capturing in vivid detail the everyday lives of ordinary people at work and play. ITN’s specially commissioned score blends electronica with classical arrangements and orchestral overtones.

Jack Dangers JACK DANGERS - 'Music For Planetarium' CD (Brainwashed Recordings)

(2008) "Music For Planetarium" is quite a departure in sound for Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto). "Music for Planetarium consists of eleven tracks commissioned for a planetarium in Budapest, and these eleven tracks most certainly feel like space. These songs are primarily drones, quiet drones, hushed drones, beautiful drones, and they remind me of the wonderful score to 2001. As such, Music for Planetarium is the perfect soundtrack for calm mornings and for quiet nights, and, if you so desire, for star-gazing. (Press Play Record). According to the notes, it was "recorded under a quilt at night in Marin County, CA." Hand-set and printed with lead type by Michael Babcock at Interrobang Letterpress.

Filip Homola worked previously with Die Archa and Znamení kruhu. Two tracks on the album were recorded at their performance in Prague, January 2006, with Biosphere (certainly an influence on their music, along with The Hafler Trio).   Les Fragments De La Nuit / Crépuscule LES FRAGMENTS DE LA NUIT - 'Musique Du Crepuscule' CD (Equilibrium Music)

Les Fragments de la Nuit is a blossoming French band created in 2005 by Michel Villar and Ombeline Chardes, score composers for film. Their music, ranges from tragic to epic and atmospheric. Some see in it the influence of repetitive music composers such as Philip Glass or Steve Reich, others the melancholic emotion found in the works of Arvö Part or Godspeed You! Black Emperor. A Neoclassical or post-nocturnal piece, "Musique du Crépuscule" has many different faces. A vision of night wrapped in mystery: a night haunted by spectral chants, under the spell of epic, poignant strings and sustained by hypnotic piano pulsations. It alternates between violin riffs, dark cello projections and a lone piano, highlighted by enigmatic echoing voices. "Our music is poetry in which words are notes, a memory in which images are dreams". 6-panel digipak. Portuguese import.

Oda Relicta ODA RELICTA - 'The Crown & The Plough' CD (Neuropa)

Oda Relicta is the product of one Oleg Kolyada (First Human Ferro / In Meditarium) who recorded 'The Crown & The Plough' with the aid of the Zhytomyr Military Orchestra. 'The Crown & The Plough' is a thoughtful album, overviewing the history of Oleg's motherland, the Ukraine. The album scores the clash between workmen and nobles; where the crown meets the plough! Grandiose Slavonic faithful hymns, orchestral sacred marches and utopian Neofolk nicely meld into a mysterious and refined album - in parts almost medieval / baroque. Highly recommended! Mastered by Henrik Nordvargr Björkk (MZ.412, Toroidh, Folkstorm). First pressing limited to just 300 copies - ACT FAST!

Silbernacht SILBERNACHT - 'Liebe Und Verfall' CD (The Ajna Offensive)

Official debut album from this dark ambient project of Frank Esser. "Imagine a gloomy, old, black and white silent film. Imagine the soundtrack for that film. This CD would be the music you would hear. Germany couldn't be a more appropriate home for Silbernacht, for this musical score seems to fit in perfectly with an era of film that is legendary the world over thanks to the genius of many a German filmmaker". Extremely similar to The Caretaker's "A Stairway To The Stars". The release is on a 4-panel chipboard stock, with hand-printed panels.

Souvenir's Young America SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA - 'Souvenir's Young America' CD (UndeRadar)

Monstrous instrumental post-metal from Richmond, VA. These songs are heavily layered, masterfully assembled instrumental creations, emotionally moving and majestic like Red Sparowes, filled with dense shoegazer buildups and gorgeous droning electronic swirl, massively heavy prog-rock dirges and sludgy piano-accompanied rock, never descending into boring noodling or overextended jams. The whole album sounds like a soundtrack for a killer lost road-trip movie scored by members of Neurosis and Godspeed You! Black Emperor doing a weird mix of 70's prog and biker rock, and 80's soundtrack metal, but with all sorts of forays into lonesome, dusty country guitar-twang, long droning expanses of floating electronic drones, supremely beautiful and often super-crushing!!! This is an absolute must for fans of Red Sparowes, Mogwai, Mono, Pelican, Isis or Zombi.

Thurston Moore THURSTON MOORE - 'Kapotte Muziek By Thurston Moore' CD (Korm Plastics)

After attending a Kapotte Muziek concert in Easthampton, USA, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) was asked by KM (Frans De Waard, Roel Meelkop and Peter Duimelinks) to expand on the idea of that concert. For the 12th part in the series "Kapotte Muziek by..." Moore carried this out in a totally free setting of piano, guitar and small objects, creating the concerts by removing the concert and replacing it by his own playing, where the original recording serves as a score.
