More than 48 hours of recordings from reel-to-reel tapes has been unveiled and carefully converted to recover two hours worth of material. The production has been split in two parts as the 1st CD is Studio and the 2nd is Live. As a matter of interest, for fans of the debut LP "Unusual Perversions", a good percentage of the archives are c.1984 and unreleased. Two reworked versions of traditional British ballads ('Lord Gregory' and 'Two Ravens') make the album complete. Pale Roses have done their best to keep the instrumentation minimal, stripped down to the core, free of all non-essential arrangements. However, slight variations between songs keep the album from being repetitive. The Panicsville side has three pieces that were originally released as a cassette, and an unreleased piece... this material already forecasts his interest in musique concrete and analogue synths and these four pieces are quite nice experimental music pieces" (Vital Weekly). PAS - 'Pure Energy Output Sessions' CD (PAS Records)
NYC experimentalists PAS (Post Abortion Stress) is a group out to create musical collages through the form of abstract sound. Their name refers metaphorically to those who have been aborted by society, because their point of view doesn't fit in the constraints of 'normal' society. The short name refers to the negative in French, metaphorically negating everything that is established to start from a new beginning. The band create soundscapes underpinned by the notion that music can be whatever the ear perceives... a conception fueled by the love of life and art. The compositions themselves are more akin to soundscapes than 'songs' in the traditional sense. There are no clearly defined melodies, no structural landmarks that give you any sense of traditional anchor. Sonic sculptures in the mode of pure art. 6-panel digisleeve.
The first offering from this Rome outfit. Originally conceived in 2005, Passione Nera has evolved from a folk-pop creature into a fully-fledged chamber-pop ensemble. The band keeps one watery alcoholic eye fixed on the cinematic tradition, with melodic landscapes that are dusty and melancholy. These scenes are then wrapped up in lush, orchestrated songs with acoustic and electric guitars taking the centre stage, and enhanced by a large array of additional instruments. It is as if the songs were written on the back of 1960s postcards brought back from some imaginary journey into “Americana”, then bred with French-pop, cross-fertilized with baroque-pop, and finally molded into a soundtrack for the broken-hearted, the disenchanted and the misunderstood. For several years Ingo Sauerbrey made extensive travels through Indonesia, always carrying recording equipment to collect sounds as an audio diary. During periodic return trips to Germany, he started to work on the recordings with electronic devices. Some sounds were edited, cut and transformed, while others were kept completely intact. Water Puppet and Shadow Theatres, Gamelan and various welcoming and fighting dances like Kecak, Jegog and the Tarian Caci were used for this album. "Sama Sadja" weaves together the sounds of living traditions, religions and languages with spherical ambient pads and electronically edited drones from the field recordings. This is an contemplative and intimate soundtrack from the deepest heart of South East Asia.
Pepe Wismeer is a duo from the Champagne-Ardennes region of France, who have been making their own unique brand of music since 1999. The music on this LP moves with patient strides, sometimes swelling to sudden crescendos, accompanied by electronic scrapes and coughs. A slightly damaged, spare, chamber folk-psych, whose distant cousins can be found in the darkly tender moments infused in early Psychic TV / Current 93 / Coil, or in the atmospheric postures of Antony & the Johnsons. 'Music for Film and Exhibition II' is the sequel of 'Music for Film and Exhibition' (Yantra Atmospheres, 2007). While the previous output contains collected works from different exhibition projects and movies spanning from 1999-2005, this sequel is focused on one single project; an exhibition. Peter Andersson (Raison D'Etre, Atomine Elektrinc, Necrophorus) recently worked as a media producer at the Swedish Air Force Museum and has been involved with their new large permanent exhibiton about the Cold War. Within this project Peter has worked with sound design and movie production in particular. The sonic results are presented here. PETER PAELINCK & ELDBJORG RAKNES - 'The Igloo Recordings' CD (None)
Peter Paelinck travelled for many years in the old lost valleys of the Himalayas and Tibet where he learned the secrets of the Bön. The dark side of the Igloo Recordings was inspired by these memories. In 2008 Peter made new recordings in Norway where snow and ice were the only material used to build instruments to create sound (iseridoo, isbone, isgong, isbell and istube). Eldbjorg Raknes joined him in making these recordings at the Geilo Ice Festival. In isolation on a mountain top in a specially built igloo, they created new ritual music, recorded by Tor Magne Hallibakken. The results were mastered in Iceland by Finnur Hakonarsson (Johan Johansson, Mùm etc), creating 9 primitive songs with a high listening quality. Peter Paelinck and his sister Niki Mono were 2 of the 5 Arian Aquarians on the cult record label LAYLAH and he has previously worked with Hilmar Orn Hilmarsson and David Tibet. The fourteenth installment in this series is a mini CD by Peter Rehberg (Pita / KTL). For his rework, Rehberg used the recordings of the very first Kapotte Muziek workshop (and concert) held in september 1997, as part of Staalplaat's 'Masterclass' event at the Korzo Theatre, in Den Haag. Moving away from digital computer noise for this work, Rehberg crafted a beautifully soft but outspoken piece of music. Low rumbles at micro levels and moments of silence are interspersed with isolated throbs and shimmering mid-frequency drones. A total playing time of 17:30.

For the first time, all THEMES albums by PSYCHIC TV released together, in a sumptuous, matt laminate, spot-varnished box set. The music itself was designed not only as soundtrack but also for subsequent use by Initiates of The Temple Ov Psychick Youth in their rituals as Functional music intended only to aid in the process of making things happen. It is a practical tool. Thee essential collection of rare, archive and modern PTV ritual / esoteric musick!
Each CD has been carefully remastered and is presented in it's own matt laminate, spot-varnished mini-LP sleeve. The box also includes a 32-page booklet of rare photos and essays.
"Themes" was originally released in 1982 as a limited bonus LP with the first 5000 copies of the legendary PSYCHIC TV album "Force The Hand Of Chance". Musicians: Stan Bingo, Peter Christopherson (Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Soisong), Genesis P-Orridge, and David Tibet (Current 93).
"Themes 2" was originally released on LP in 1985 by Temple Records and subsequently reissued as an extended CD version by Cold Spring in 1997. Musicians: Genesis P-Orridge, Alex Fergusson, John Gosling (Zos Kia, Coil, Mekon). "Themes 2" is presented here as a 2 CD set, including the full vinyl version - plus the original "Unclean" 12" and it`s two B side tracks that were recorded in the same sessions.
"Themes 3" was originally released on LP in 1986 by Temple Records and is presented here for the first time on CD, completely remastered. Musicians: Genesis P-Orridge, John Gosling (Zos Kia, Coil, Mekon), Mark Sangerman, Monte Cazazza. "Themes 3" is presented here as a 2 CD set, with an unheard, yet legendary version performed in Boston, US by Genesis P-Orridge and John Gosling under the title of "Pagan Easter".

Psychophysicist is the fruit of an ambitious collaboration between Adi Newton (Clock DVA, TAGC) and Andrew McKenzie (The Hafler Trio), two giants in the field of electronic music. Psychophysics was developed by Gustave Fechner, who believed that science and technology had made man materialistic and indifferent to spiritual matters. The recordings on this CD are aimed to stimulate and aid the expansion of consciousness and relaxation of physiological tensions. Our aim was to create a recording which could be used for these purposes. This is the true aim of psychophysics, the attainment of body and spirit. Following the awe-inspiring debut "Let Us Lead", Puissance would return a couple of years later to unleash "Back In Control", a cynical tribute to human evolution and how such evolution inevitably seems to dictate the end of the World and mankind's own extinction. The impending man-made apocalypse which Soderlund obsessively narrates is superbly illustrated by epic martial compositions, to which the pace is set by loud marching drums and Industrial percussion. Three years after "State Collapse", the cogwheels of the Puissance warmachine have been fine-tuned and put to work again, in a crushing motion that seems to be as defiant and innovative as ever. Musically, "Grace Of God" could well be referred to as a re-definition of the over-abused "Martial-Pop" term, yet Puissance's own superior combination of sumptuous Neoclassical and Industrial elements raises any potential Pop anthem to an entirely distinct level. More melodic and vocal-oriented than before, this latest opus also comes to expose a more rhythmic approach that had been hinted at in previous releases, but which has now morphed into a powerful and relentless driving force in Söderlund and Möller's compositions. Reissue of Puissance's 1999 album. With the Industrial rust of early days properly polished, the Swedish duo would further explore their talent for graceful arrangements set to Militaristic Neo-Classical music. Following the overtly confrontational offerings of "Let Us Lead" and "Back In Control", Puissance were now set to resurrect the ghosts of Cold War and the obsession with all things thermonuclear that haunted the planet - the Mother of Disease, as they would call it - over that period. Brooding hymns to suicidal heroism, devotional praises to a new god that would finally bring closure to the human race, the screeching of metal twisting and melting - all of this would find its place in Puissance's own beautiful vision of the impending apocalypse, that they so ingeniously depict on "Mother of Disease". This fine collection, it has been re-mastered and enhanced with one bonus track, presented in a matte-blue deluxe digipak edition.
The masters of Martial Neoclassical Industrial return! Sumptuous and majestic as ever, exploring their melodic side even further. Bombastic orchestral sounds, atmospheric Neoclassical synth music, some militant drumming and dark spoken words. Multi-instrumentalists Brittany McConnell Blake Green reside in the rural landscape outside of Boise, Idaho, where they create their dark, foreboding sounds away from the chaos of America’s large cities. "She Hid Behind Her Veil…", is comprised of a single track over 45 minutes in length. The sound occupies a dense space where the heavy, metallic drone sound of Black Boned Angel intersects with the minimalist string arrangements of Phillip Glass and the more ambient doom tendencies of Japan’s Corrupted. With its use of violin textures, the album sounds as much like a classical movement as an art-doom release. Draped in a cloak of gothic black doom ambiance and eerie, unsettling moods, "She Hid Behind Her Veil…" is an apparition of ghostly vision from one of America’s more isolated environments. Digipak. Pyhä Kuolema is a solo project of Mikko Pöyhönen after the Neofolk duo Tuhat Kuolemaa Sekunnissa disbanded. Traditional to the bone, ”Saavun Vaikken Kulkisi” brings forth a dozen of atmospheric, national romantic, extremely emotional and personal songs sung in Finnish.
