This is the stereo version of a sound installation presented at Montreal's Studio Cormier in December 2004. The piece is based on the recording of 'silences', i.e. the recording of sound produced in spaces with no human presence. The sound of an 'empty' Studio Cormier was used as the material for the production of this piece. The sound takes were done during the quietest moments of the day, by means of microphones placed strategically throughout the Studio by the artist. The sounds gathered were then amplified and their frequencies accentuated to the extreme. The result of the experiment, as presented here, constitutes a genuine drone odyssey playing on fullness and emptiness, presence and absence, 'speak' and 'non-speak'. "Age of 369" was originally released on cassette in 1984. The lesser known "Chant 2" is also from this period and complements the sonic intensity of the other. Of further importance is the influence of Maurizio Bianchi (MB) and the mail art that was integral to the industrial underground. These reissues document significant works from Japan's Noise master. Made with a cheap tape recorder and a lot of tape loops, which were then manipulated by hand. "Lowest Music 2" was a very early example of that. Then Merzbow mixed more tape loops with more harsh noise. "Age of 369" (Mlroku No Yo) and "Chant 2" are the finest early examples of that. The Japanese title of "Age of 369" was inspired by the Omoto Cult, founded by Onisabura Degughi. For this album, Mathias Josefson collaborated with colleagues from the Royal University Of Arts, Stockholm, who provided him with various sound sources. "Sadalsuud" refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is quite reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. Digipak, Finnish import.

Alabama-based Hog Mountin are a pissed off sludge doom band that lie somewhere in between Grief, Crowbar and Eyehategod. You can expect pretty heavy "scream the lungs out" sludge throughout most of the music. On the second part of the split you get a couple of killer tunes by the Belgians Möse (featuring members of Neuthrone, Thee Plague Of Gentlemen and Kiss The Anus Of A Black Cat...), a misanthropic sludge-metal outfit with one previous 7". The man behind Murmer is the US field recording specialist Patrick McGinley, who is also responsible for the 'Framework' radio programme on London’s Resonance 104.4FM. The two pieces on this "Drone" captivate the listener with intelligently assembled and multi-layered recordings of a garden in London (i.e. tree bark, water, footsteps, a creaking gate), processer and ventilation sounds of an old computer, and beads of a broken necklace. All sounds were left un-processed. Combined, they take you on a trip into an other world of low drones and high-pitched noises, crunching and gritting microsounds, surprising cut-ups, all very near and clear. Part of Staalplaat's ongoing Muslimgauze archive series, "Sycophant of Purdah" was submitted in 1994 then “replaced” by another master Bryn Jones felt more fit for release. "Sycophant" then languished in the vaults until present, nearly a decade after Jones' passing. Despite being of the same sub-genre as the old-school Industrial stylings of "Zealot", "Blue Mosque" etc, "Sycophant" could be considered a 'missing link' that ties them together - with ethno-breaks added for variance. This is the stereo version of a sound installation presented at Montreal's Studio Cormier in December 2004. The piece is based on the recording of 'silences', i.e. the recording of sound produced in spaces with no human presence. The sound of an 'empty' Studio Cormier was used as the material for the production of this piece. The sound takes were done during the quietest moments of the day, by means of microphones placed strategically throughout the Studio by the artist. The sounds gathered were then amplified and their frequencies accentuated to the extreme. The result of the experiment, as presented here, constitutes a genuine drone odyssey playing on fullness and emptiness, presence and absence, 'speak' and 'non-speak'.
