M.B. + NIMH - 'Together's Symphony' 4 x CD Boxset (Silentes / Amplexus)
An extraordinary collaboration between the hystorical Italian de-composer Maurizio Bianchi and the eclectic, experimental, ambient artist Nimh (Giuseppe Verticchio). An unmissable 4CD box that's a long and kaleidoscopic journey at the edges of sound; from the dark-industrial feelings of 'Together's Symphony' (the CD that gives the box its title), to experimental-lyric-introspective atmospheres of 'Secluded Truths', to the sonic multicoloured collages of 'Niddah Emmhna', (M.B. solo), and the electronic-acoustic-ambient visionary suggestions of 'Subterranean Thoughts' (Nimh solo). Endocrine insulation for diagnostic firabilities. Ltd x 300 copies only! Silentes is a sub-division of Italian label Amplexus.

MAATH - 'No Survivors For The New World' CD (Eibon Records)
Debut album from this Italian artist. Based upon the concept of coma, sleep and suspended animation, "No Survivors For The New World" gently brings you through a dormant world, where dreams flow freely around you, leaving a coloured trace in the cold and dark void. Melodic dark ambient of the finest kind; round, deep, mesmerizing. Are you ready for your new world? Presented in a beautiful digisleeve.
MACHINEFABRIEK - 'Marijn' LP (Burning World Records)
Dutch artist Rutger Zuydervelt presents six tracks of post-industrial ambience. Zuydervelt works with live instruments, mostly piano and guitar, and intense computer processing to create gloomy instrumentals. The tracks develop very slowly, pushing them to the level of density his music requires. Looping piano changes into a menacing melody, followed by a transitory section that leads to the grand finale: A five minute noise orgy that sounds like plugging headphones into the turbine of an Airbus. This is quite a surprise when compared to the overall quiet nature of the LP, but it sums up a very intense album. Limited to just 100 copies on white vinyl.

MACHINEFABRIEK - 'Ranonkel' CD (Burning World Records)
'Ranonkel' marks a break in form from the recent output, avoiding all sense of this being another ephemeral transmission from the Machinefabriek hard drive, and instead sounding like a fully formed bonafide album, a worthy follow-up to 'Marijn'. Rutger Zuydervelt combines the very best of his microsound work with an explicitly tuneful instrumental element... an infinitely graceful backdrop of high frequency sine tones, crackle and slow chords. The finest Machinefabriek outing of 2008 by some margin - you'll be returning to the opening piece in particular again and again. Matt digifile.

MAEROR TRI - 'Myein' CD (Waystyx)
Re-edition of the famous triangular release from 1995 on ND Records. “…this man-size slab of ground zero Ambient hints (aptly) at concealment and secrecy and shadow and exclusion, the sweep of sandstorms around silos and the rumble of underground detonations, to the extent that even the tentative melodic praises and half-heard rhythmic patterns which start to appear in track two assume a threatening aspect. Stylish and sumptuous, yes, but beware: with just three tracks in a patience-testing 74 minutes, this is strictly buff stuff for only the most monomaniacal minimalist.” [The Wire] This edition comes in a beautifully-crafted fold-out cardboard structure and is hand-numbered to only 675 copies. MAGWHEELS / STONE GLASS STEEL - 'Pane' CD (Ad Noiseam)
For its second album on Ad Noiseam, USA-based prodigy David Sullivan (MAGWHEELS) teams up with industrial icon Phil Easter (STONE GLASS STEEL / IRON HALO DEVICE). Magwheels presents 7 new tracks of noise, post rock guitars and experimental samples; a brilliant follow-up to the stunning Evebuildingbomb CD. "Pane" rounds out with two 20 minute reconstructions of the Magwheels backcatalog by Stone Glass Steel. An interesting and compelling release showing that industrial music is not to be confined to a specific audience of specialists, but is to appeal to anybody in search of a moving and refreshing sound. Digipak.
Mainliner was started in 1995 by Asahito Nanjo from High Rise and Acid Mothers Temple leader Kawabata Makoto, in order 'to explore new possibilities' which would create 'a completely new type of heavy psychedelic group.' MAN IS THE BASTARD NOISE / GERRITT - 'Split' 7" (Misanthropic Agenda)
Man is the Bastard Noise is Wood from MITB and AQ buddy John Wiese. Their side of this single is an almost tranquil blanket of high end whir, sounding like an orchestra of mosquitoes, helicopters, kitchen appliances, and madly chirping birds. Almost dreamy in that peculiar noise kind of way. The B side comes courtesy of label honcho Gerritt Wittmer and is three tracks of affected sinister vocals, looped and chopped chunks of low end distortion. Ltd x 800 copies on beautiful marbled vinyl with heavy sleeve.

MARC BEHRENS / PAULO RAPOSO - 'Hades' CD (and/OAR)
Adorning the cover of this release is a beautiful image of ferry boats on a calm, yet brooding expanse of water; and it's from these ferries that all the original sounds were sourced. They were then reformed, reprocessed and manipulated to make a series of hauntingly beautiful sound sculptures that carry all the hallmarks of menace and darkness that the name would suggest. Resonant textures, high frequencies, noisy punctuations, which are evocative of the original source material. Stark interludes combine to give the listener a very compelling listen indeed. MARCH OF HEROES - 'March For Glory' CD (War Office Propaganda / Rage In Eden)

MARZURAAN - 'Five Years Worth Of Fuck All' CD (At War With False Noise)
Starting off from now and moving backwards through time to the early bedroom demo days, this CD shows Marzuraan's evolution from simplistic droning minimalism of the two bass lineup to the full-on rock beast of today. MASON JONES - 'Midnight At The Twilight Factory' CD (Monotremata)
"Midnight at the Twilight Factory" demonstrates a feel for texture which lies somewhere between ambient and noisy. Two of the tracks are purely solo guitar, recorded direct to DAT and then processed further during the mastering process. These are long, flowing pieces of psych-drone audio cinema. The other two pieces are recordings of live collaborations. One, recorded at the 1997 Monterey Rock Festival, is a duo with bassist Jason Stein. The other, recorded in San Francisco, features experimental guitarist Bill Horist and electric cellist Kevin Goldsmith. Very little of these recordings resembles what a listener will expect from an electric guitar, and that's precisely the point. Definitely one for fans of Sunn O))) etc.

MATHIAS DELPLANQUE - 'Ma Chambre Quant Je N'Y Suis Pas (Montreal)' CD (Mondes Elliptiques)
This is the stereo version of a sound installation presented at Montréal’s Studio Cormier in December 2004. The piece is based on the recording of “silences”, i.e. the recording of sound produced in spaces with no human presence. The sound of an “empty” Studio Cormier was used as the material for the production of this piece. The sound takes were done during the quietest moments of the day, by means of microphones placed strategically throughout the Studio by the artist. The sounds gathered were then amplified and their frequencies accentuated to the extreme. The result of the experiment, as presented here, constitutes a genuine drone odyssey playing on fullness and emptiness, presence and absence, ‘’speak’’ and ‘’non-speak’. One long track full of subtle movement and enlivened with underlying currents. Limited to 500 copies in a textured sleeve with inserts. Mondes Elliptiques is a division of Angle.Rec, Canada.

MATHIAS GRASSOW & THOMAS WEISS - 'Outland' CD (Faria Records)
A reflection from outer spaces in between the universe of our mind. A miniature of the endless space from far behind mankind's tangibility. To understand the real essence of the heart of the matter, often it is necessary to take a look from the distance. Just this distance shows structures and connections, which are otherwise impossible to see and grasp - because everyone himself is part of a certain situation. Therefore “Outland” stands for a journey into an “outer land”, to become an advanced view for realisation. Ltd x 500 copies in an outsized package with inserts. Russian import.
'Namakar' is a description of our different initiation rites; Australian-Aboriginal, Egyptian, Red Indian and Tibetan.
