"Music For Planetarium" is quite a departure in sound for Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto). "Music for Planetarium consists of eleven tracks commissioned for a planetarium in Budapest, and these eleven tracks most certainly feel like space. These songs are primarily drones, quiet drones, hushed drones, beautiful drones, and they remind me of the wonderful score to 2001. As such, Music for Planetarium is the perfect soundtrack for calm mornings and for quiet nights, and, if you so desire, for star-gazing. (Press Play Record). First album by the Austrian Psychedelic-Folk artist Jahrtal (Ewald Spiss from 80s Industrial act Tyrol. "Lichtbuch" is a unique collection of traditional folk songs from the Alps, musical versions of poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, traditionals from England and Scotland with German translation and even a traditional Tibetan prayer. A wide and balanced instrumentation gives the album a unique touch, with a sad / optimistic mood. Jahrtal uses acoustic and electric guitars, lute, banjo, dulcimer, gzitar, harpzither, psalter, flute, duduk, schalm, violin, organ and bird song. The main influences of Jahrtal are in the end-60s and early 70s with bands like Witthüser & Westrupp, Spirogyra and C.O.B., but a comparison to the most beautiful ballads of Current 93 is inevitable as well. This is an absolutely authentic Folk album with great heart and pure soul.

They packed their equipment into an old house in the woods, far from every drop of alcohol and other civilisation, the results came fast - "Receiving a flower on Mother´s Day" is a mixture of dark sound-scapes, futuristic psychedelia and Industrial music. Side project of Erik Jarl, member of the revered and immensely powerful heavy electronics outfit IRM (Cold Meat). JARL doesn’t come with the aggression of that project, but it does evoke similar feelings of instability and dementia via more atmospheric means. The disc consists of 17 tracks in total, each flowing into each other, with the early pieces having an almost cosmic heaviness (ala INADE) – pulsing and weighty, the sounds of winds sweeping across a barren land and distant orb. As it progresses, however, the seeds of profound sickness and decay are planted and begin to blossom; the tones and textures becoming more surreal and unsettling, the drones a bit more persistent and penetrating, abandoning listeners in a white walled room to confront their inner demons and degenerating psyche.

Reissue of the debut cassette album from Swedish electronics genius Jarl (aka Erik Jarl / IRM), now remastered for CD. The album consists of two record sessions: one of them (6 tracks) was recorded in 1999, while the other (1 track) was recorded 18 months later. Those closely following Jarl's music may recognise the early sound of Erik’s compositions in "Wound Profile", reminding of the first IRM records. Clear-cut, abnormal, psychedelic rhythmics, its distorted, massive repetitions, analogous loops of synthetic sound generate the emotions of anxiety, morbidity and degeneration. "Ottoman Black" is an album of midnight drones and true noise. Using powerfully clear electronics as a base for declarative noise bursts, Crumer manipulates the sounds with a resounding animosity. In the vein of Pedestrian Deposit and Air Conditioning, Crumer yields his mean streak to an array of silences over the course of the album. The theme here is personal relations; tracks like "Betrayal After Betrayal" have a conversational quality, both the screams and the muffles, the physicality. "Where Were You" is an actionist-influenced piece of torture. There's nothing not painful here, especially the quiet; the peaks are almost a relief. Ottoman Black is a stern and unforgiving universe. Beginning with punishing drill n' bass breaks and blastbeats with monstrous psychotic vocals and HARSH noise, "The Shame Of Being A Child" progresses into ghostly drones and white noise. Add in some Merzbow-meets-Boredoms insanity, mashed up grindcore debris, heavy machine beat action underneath swirling drones like ala Troum or Final. Overall, this album falls somewhere around the intersection of Discordance Axis, Muslimgauze, Japanese Noise, Nasenbluten and Winterkälte (!). Highly recommended to avant-grind and heavy noise fans. 'Tränende Würger" is based on free improvisations by the Frisch / Wehowsky duo, reworked by electro-acoustic means. The compositional process did not intend to mask the nonlinear nature of the improvisations. Quite on the contrary - their organic character has been emphasised by crystal-clear sharpening of details. Complex structures and dark atmospheres, not unlike those on some P16.D4 releases, though absolutely rooted in the 21st century. beauty and poisoning are not far from each other. Comes in an outsized sleeve with the artwork on six separate sheets, dealing with poisonous plants.
JOHN DUNCAN - 'Da Sich Die Machtgier...' CD (Die Stadt)
Asmus Tietchens sent processed recordings of himself reading excerpts from two texts by E. M. Cioran. Duncan worked on and manipulated them, creating three pieces. There is little of Tietchens remaining in these abstract creations. Speed-altered voice tracks are stacked, swirling electronic sounds in the background providing proof of deeper processing. "Freih zein hoem macht..." ranks among Duncan's harshest pieces to date, while "Aber..." is more "typical" Duncan: a drone derived from the sound source but from which the sound source has been obliterated, and yet makes its ghostly presence palpable. Presented in a nice digipak with tasteful spot varnish and insert. Ltd x 1000.

Coleclough and Liles met in October 2004 when they both performed at Intergration 3 in Preston, UK. Liles subsequently reworked the recording of Coleclough's solo performance from that evening. He went on to add, subtract, multiply and divide further live recordings supplied by Coleclough, and the eventual result was this double LP. 'Torch Songs' is packaged in a heavy gatefold sleeve featuring 'I Dreamt I was a River', a poem composed and painted by Geoff Sawers during a performance with Coleclough in Geneva in March 2005.
