Latest release by the great "trance-gong-drone" project from Torun, Poland - a result of many experiences and evolving artistic landscapes. The Polish duo HATI is a very active live group, using an array of archaic and ethnic instruments such as gongs, cymbals, north-African drums and clarinets, wooden trumpets, horns and flutes. What’s more, their music also includes found objects of scrap metal, plastic or wood. Their first release on vinyl presents two pieces of multi-layered gong drones, nicely processed for full trance effect and enriched with whistling and rattling sounds and delayed percussion. "Universum" is the last studio album and musical testament of T.H. Thiel (founder of Ordo Catharsis Templi), who died in April 2003, only few days after putting the final touches to this impressive album. Like only few ambient artists, Hoedh succeed to awake a feeling of longing and melancholy within every listener and at the same time Hoedh create a feeling of inner silence: a spiritual drowning into your soul. "Universum" is released as official In Memoriam album in collaboration with Ordo Catharsis Templi.
"Collaborating Torture" is one of the last known recordings made by Matt Gibney (Hollowing), who died in January 2006. Gibney, a member of SOIHADTOSHOOTHIM and label boss of the Rectrix label, was joined here by the prolific Maor Appelbaum (Grave in the Sky, Poochaltz, Vectorscope) to create a brooding and massive 54-minute track of dark, pitch-black ambient, hypnagogic swirls and industrialised drones. Sometimes subtle, yet mostly haunted and delirious, this is highly recommended if you like Wilt, Aidan Baker, Z'EV, Daniel Menche and John Duncan. Israeli import.
"Penfield Mood Organ" is about a device from Philip K. Dick's book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" - a box designed to induce emotions and feelings in people. This release is definitely the coldest to date for Horologium or Moljebka Pvlse. HYPNOZ - 'Breath Of Earth' CD (Zhelezobeton)
Hypnoz is a project of Dmitry Zubov, a Moscow musician, who endowed lovers of post-industrial music with such names as Hum and Staruha Mha. Since 1993 Hypnoz has released one CD on Russian label Insofar Vapour Bulk, which gathered tracks from different periods and a couple of very limited editions. The basis of most of the tracks for "Breath of Earth" was recorded by Dmitry together with Evgeny Voronovsky (Cisfinitum) during their joint night psychedelic sessions, and this is evidently felt in their mood. Stylistically this can be called tranquil electronic ambient with a remarkable experimental touch. Slowly twisting sound helixes, drawing inside the astral subspaces, pulsating rhythms, cosmic sounds of old analogue synths. Outsize package. Ltd x 500 copies.
"Rim of the Sun" is a journey over 4 tracks of abstract, formless, liquid experimental soundscapes that are as engaging as they are confusing.
