(2007) A collaboration between the two experimental artists: Belgium's Fear Falls Burning teams up with New Zealand's Birchville Cat Motel for a single long track, displaying their fascination for the metallic and slow expanding drone. Made with guitars, amps, processing and subtle percussion, this album brought out the best in each other and is a lively, pulsating, moody and intense drone manifest. All source drones recorded by FFB in real-time early 2007, with additional recording and re-assembling by BCM in Autumn 2007. Comes in a great 6-panel digipak.

KNUT - 'Terraformer' CD (Conspiracy Records / Hydra Head)
Hybridizing metal, guitar noise, and hardcore while searching for new musical frontiers in their early career, Knut embodied much of what many bands today are still seeking to achieve and did so in splendid form. 10 years on they're still prophesying a future for heavy music. One for fans of the generic Hydra Head sound: atmospheric drones, overwhelming bursts of noise, and complex rhythms battling against each other (think Jesu, Isis etc).
Debut 'EP' from this French duo containing the two title tracks and two remix tracks. 'Psychoide' is a "gorgeous soft cacophony of epic post rock drift", while 'Participation Shift' has "deep soft swells of shimmering warmth and distant bits of industrial clatter, a slow burning ambient drift that is eventually joined by a simple motorik rhythm". The two remix tracks are: 'Psychoide' remixed by SCANNER (Robin Rimbaud) and Participation Mystic remixed by JESU (Justin Broadrick of Final, Techno Animal, Godflesh). The result is a very cinematic, mesmerising warm piece of music, spanning 43 minutes. Limited to 1000 copies in a nice digipak with sticker.

Dense, abstract, challenging, and confrontational. Monno stands out from the legacy of doomsayers that includes Throbbing Gristle, Suicide, Whitehouse, and more recently Wolf Eyes and Lightning Bolt. As the title would suggest, this is a meeting of Sunburned Hand Of The Man (USA) and Circle (Finland). During SHOTM's European tour in September 2006, they teamed up with Circle in Tampere, Finland, jammed together and recorded all of it. This session was edited down to a total of 40-minutes which wanders ongoing through free folk, psych, improv, spaced out, hippy jamming and noisy-rock bizarreness.
