American Band is Jason Crumer (FACEDOWNINSHIT, Amazing Grace) on electronics, Matt Franco (Air Conditioning) on guitar, vocals & electronics and Lee Counts on metal. Andrea Belfi is an Italian electro-acoustic musician and composer. He began playing drums at the age of 14, and studied art in Milan, before becoming involved in experimental music in 2000. Belfi is also a member of electronic outfit Medves. Rotterdam artist Rutger Zuydervelt started his prolific project Machinefabriek in 2004. This striking collaboration took place between Belfi on drums and assorted small percussion, and Zuydervelt on guitar and organ. Together they produce the 'pulses' and 'places' mentioned in the title. Organic yet partially improvised, it resembles a kind of sonic geography. The listener is taken away for a journey of mild drones, soft yet outspoken percussion. A strong release. Presented in a card-slip-sleeve.

Debut release from Andromelos - a psychedelic Japanese supergroup formed by guitarist Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple, Nishinihon, Musica Transonic, Mainliner, Gong), electronics genius Yamazaki Maso (Masonna, Space Machine) and drummer Okano Futoshi (Nishinihon, ex Subert Blaze, ex Ghost). Droning organs and relatively calm electronics give way to a fully-fledged cosmic-kraut-rock-lovin-odyssey ala AMT and Space Machine, or 70s analogue-synth masters like Klaus Schulze or early Tangerine Dream. Ektro is the label of Jussi from Finnish legends Circle.
Before better known as Panicsville, but now moving into the realms of serious music (this new release got some sponsoring from arts councils) under his own name. The octa-thing deals with the number eight, and the three pieces here on this DVD (no images) can be played on a 7.1 installation, if you have such a thing. I only have a 2.0 installation, called 'stereo', but it sounds great still. Ortmann lists a list of instruments - mainly old analogue synthesizers and where he did his field recordings. Just as on the Schimpfluch disc, I'd say this is the small alley where noise is really interesting. Not because it's super loud, although there are points when things are pretty loud, but because of the fine balance between electronic, noisy sounds and the crackling of highly amplified field recordings which are all put together into an interesting collage of sound. Not like Schimpfluch of short and shorter sounds, but through longer pieces which work quite well. Great stuff, both of these releases and if noise is like this, I'd sign up again." (Vital Weekly).

The debut MCD by Armon Kuilu is a funereal musical journey, two long progressive / folk compositions built out mostly of classical piano, strings, orchestral drums, singing, prayers and invocations in male and female voices. "Notturno" was originally released on LP by Discos Esplendor Geometrico in 1986 (ltd x 518) and then on CD by Baronni in 1993. Following 'Formen Letzter Hausmusik' and 'Hydrophonie', 'Notturno' was another 'serious' attempt at composing more electro-acoustic music, and Tietchens limits himself to using the (grand) piano, looping the sounds and filtering through sound effects and synths. To use loops as to the extent that Tietchens does is something that sets him aside from the regular musique concrete composers. Remastered.
