This prolific Canadian classically trained multi-instrumentalist has generously contributed to the doom / drone / ambient genre under the guise of Nadja, Arc and Whisper Room. Having been known for his extensive ambient soundscapes, Baker chose a different approach here to his sound weaving - albeit true to the "Bakersound". Instead of a densely layered and broad sound palette, Baker has almost embraced a "post-rock-ish" method of composing. More compact, pointed and clear progressions can be discovered, together with a diverse array of instruments, sounds and techniques. Whisper Room is a trio based in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany featuring Aidan Baker (Nadja), Neil Wiernik (NAW) and Jakob Thiesen (Students). These three creative minds had moved in similar musical circles in Toronto and Montreal for years sporadically sharing stages but did not actively come together to play as a trio until Dec 2006. Since then they have worked as a improv unit and combined their disparate musical backgrounds to create music which explores the conjunction of electronic rhythms and textures with the pulsations and psychedelics and shoegaze and krautrock music.
