AARON DILLOWAY & C. SPENCER YEH - 'The Squid' CD (Hanson Records)
Reissue of the 2007 LP (Hanson Records). Aaron Dilloway (ex-Wolf Eyes) & C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) recorded live to 4-track cassette in the summer of 2006 in Ann Arbor. Dilloway uses tape loops, tape delay, bowed tape and vocals and Yeh uses violin, voice and electronics. Heavy, psychedelic, noisy and expansive. This CD version includes a bonus track collage of the 3 tracks from the duo's out of print False Speech cassette. Digipak.
First vinyl for Asianova - Ure Thrall of Voice Of Eye and Pamela Passmore, with several guests - and the second in the "Substantia Innominata" series from Drone Records (the first being Daniel Menche's "Radiant Blood"). Over 30 minutes of music inspired by "the unknown, the unnameable, the unspeakable, the unthinkable". Musically this release sits between experimental drone and ethno-ambient. Haunting sound effects and eerie female vocals are carefully layered over a combination of drones, soundscapes and ambience. File next to Hybryds. First edition of 500 copies with full colour cover and pressed on pink / white marbled vinyl.

CHANDEEN - 'Teenage Poetry' CD (Kalinkaland)
Chandeen returns with another timeless jewel. As one of the originators of the genre that came to be known as "Heavenly Voices," Harald Löwy remains as chief song-writer and instrumentalist, with a new vocalist for this incarnation of Chandeen: Julia Beyer who lends a more fragile, autumn character to the songs. These songs sound more inspired, more intimate and yes, in some respects more mature and developed then past releases. Julia Beyer's sad, but strong voice stands in sympathetic contrast and floats in concurrent harmony with Löwy's tearfully beautiful songs.

JOY OF LIFE / APOPTOSE - 'Warrior Creed' LP (Tesco Organisation)
In 1988 British post punk group Joy of Life released their song 'Warrior Creed'. 20 years later 'Warrior Creed' is back - seen though the eyes of Apoptose. The voice of Joy of Life leadsinger Gary Carey has matured and the rhythm section is reinforced by an entire band of drummers, the Fanfarenzug Leipzig. Now the music sounds even darker. This LP celebrates the return of that classic song. It features two new interpretations by Apoptose, both sung by Gary Carey, alongside the original Joy of Life version which has been unavailable for more than a decade. The vinyl-only release is limited to 600 copies and is packed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with metallic bronze embossing.

K11 - 'Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.' Enhanced CD (Actual Noise)
K11 is the nom de plume of the Italian sound artist Pietro Riparbelli. For "Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.", Riparbelli entered Assisi Cathedral (completed in 1230 A.D.) in the Umbria region of Italy, not far from Riparelli’s hometown of Tuscany. The audio was recorded in the cathedral’s lower basilica, the oldest area, where the relics of St. Francis Of Assisi reside. Utilising short-wave radio as his primary instrument Riparbelli has captured a haunting array of cavernous sounds, displaced signals and found ambiance. With the addition of some voice and organ elements, "Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D." sounds not unlike the recordings of Philip Jeck and William Basinski under the influence of Crowleyean Magick and Sacred Geometry. A video shot inside the cathedral by Riparbelli is included on the disc to give the listener a visual picture of the aging structure. As in all K11’s work, the themes of magick, religion, numerology and esotericism are present throughout this reverent document of aural mysticism. Digipak.

Ure Thrall (Asianova, ex-Voice Of Eye) is an American artist from Houston, Texas, who is long active in the more atmospheric, transcendental experimental US-scene. His first vinyl release contains two long tracks with an organic, filmic and sublime quality, using echo-flutes, bass, e-bowed guitar and restrained percussion underneath. The whole 7” is a personal statement about the politics of the USA after this tragic day, which is expressed also in the cover artwork and the liner notes. Second edition of 300 copies on red / black marbled vinyl with full-colour sleeve and an insert.

VOICE OF EYE - 'Emergence & Immersion' 2 x CD (Old Europa Cafe)
In 2007 Voice of Eye ended their 12-year silence with "Emergence" and "Immersion". These works were released for their European tour in editions of only 100. Now those impossible-to-find releases are finally available on proper CDs! Spontaneity and raw emotional expression punctuate throughout. Although completely improvised, the music seems amazingly composed. Wildness, beauty, humour, darkness, fear, horror, yearning, grief and vast spaciousness inhabit this mysterious lively music. One can find some source material for their recent live shows, with a large array of instruments utilised, including VOE’s self-made instruments. Re-mastered and presented in a digisleeve with a new bonus track, 'Peacock Symphony', offering 2 and a half hours of music.
VOICE OF EYE - 'Seven Directions Divergent' CD (Conundrum Unlimited)
Another masterpiece of ethereal power-drone music based entirely on acoustic instruments and sources, this time much more song and vocal oriented with at times amazing results! Taking over a year to produce, "Seven Directions Divergent" is the fifth full-length Voice of Eye CD. " As artists experimenting with sound we have been inspired by many different styles of music and noise. Seven Directions Divergent pays homage to some of the diverse musical sources that have influenced us over the years from traditional Sanskrit chants to Steve Hillage to cute Euro pop to shamanic transcendence. This is an ambitious project melding many different sources together with the ethereal beauty and yearning magnificence you expect from Voice of Eye. This CD transports the listener along a narrative history of our personal journeys of change and transformation as told through the medium of sound". Mastered by Jon Gold. Digipak with beautiful full colour artwork by Jim Wilson.
The comeback of the legendary duo from New Mexico, USA, consisting of Bonni McNairn and Jim Wilson. Between 1992-1995 VOE released three albums with their unique style combining ethnic, ritualistic and folklore influences in an experimental and highly organic way to create a kind of transcendental drone ambience, using only "real" instruments and self-built devices and an array of electronic effects. These 3 tracks (39 mins) of new material are inspired by the wisdom of Buddhist / Advaitic meditation and philosophy, and are based on ethereal vocal material, flute-sounds and their self-built string-instruments, full of yearning and beauty. Ltd x 500 copies on clear / golden marbled vinyl. Recommended!
