Amocoma AMOCOMA - 'Go To Hell' CD (Tumult)

Reissue of Amocoma's rare demo release, remastered with 2 bonus tracks. Amocoma traffic in an ultra lo-fi, muddy murky blackness. It's definitely black metal, but at the same time it's sort of stumbling and noise rocky - all rendered nearly indistinct by the incredibly FX drenched lo-fi production. Dreamy swirls of soft focus harmonics and distant rumbles... hypnotic looped riffs... mechanical and repetitive drums.... howled and reverbed vocals. The more you listen, the more pretty it sounds. Sure it's raw and harsh, but the melody is so hypnotic, and the swirling clouds of distortion and reverb give everything a sort of soft focus shimmer.

Dieter Mh / MNEM DIETER MUH / MNEM - 'Atomyriades' CD (Cipher Productions)

The UK's Dieter Muh (Dave Uden alone this time) manipulates Finland's MNEM. "Solid collaborative effort between these known, but still some what obscure groups, delivering 8 tracks of dark, abstract atmospheres, with an array of layered, slightly organic sounds and processed manipulations; unknown insectile noises (of a larger variety I might add), sub-aquatic, droney washes, and deep rhythmic pulsations, with a dash of industrial clutter thrown in. Quite active and constantly in motion, allowing this to work very well as background music, or with headphones to pick up the multiple nuances and ultra-hypnotic qualities. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but I like this a lot more than I thought I would" (Malignant). Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak. Australian import.

Jennifer Gentle JENNIFER GENTLE - 'A New Astronomy' CD (A Silent Place)

Official re-issue of the ultra rare 2005 Sub Pop release (Ltd x 100 copies), now in a digipak. This album is dedicated to Giovanni Paneroni, amateur astronomer and misunderstood genius. "A new astronomy" is probably the most eccentric and out-there JG release to date. Recorded mostly in Marco Fasolo's bedroom on a 4-track cassette machine, the album was conceived as the imaginary soundtrack for some of their most bizarre, vivid dreams - obviously interspersed by the occasional nightmare. It's made by grainy, hallucinated musical scores trying to depict the beautiful, the scary, the annoying and the simply absurd inhabiting dreams. It runs the gamut from ghostly ambient drones to brain-damaged acoustic sketches, covering everything in between - furious guitar freak-outs and a homage to British 60's producer Joe Meek included.

Subklinik SUBKLINIK - 'Musik For Dekomposition' CD (Fall Of Nature Records)

Subklinik is Chad Davis (Torturecide, Mortuor). Since 1996, Subklinik has continued to create some of the darkest Death Industrial / necro-soundscapes in existence. Enter "Musik For Dekomposition", the latest full length from Subklinik, featuring six torturous expressions that convey a foreboding atmosphere abundant with feelings of death, and isolation, manifested through a sonic vortex of analogue filth and decay. "Lo-fi, unsettling, and ultra grim, this immediately takes me back to the early-mid' 90s and the heyday of the Slaughter Productions cassette scene" (Malignant).

Whourkr WHOURKR - 'Concrete' CD (Crucial Blast)

The 2nd album from French deathtronix duo Whourkr is a whirlwind of electronically processed and treated avant-death/grind that is as violent and brutal as it is complex and obsessively constructed, relying as much on samplers and software as it does on bonecrushing riffs, screaming and hyperspeed blastbeats. Following a similar strategy as James Plotkin's post-production grind experiments on the first Phantomsmasher album, all of the guitars, drums, and vocals are arranged and recorded by Whourkr and then run through a gauntlet of hardcore editing and remixing. Total chaos deathgrind filtered through a futuristic cuisinart of ultra-aggressive electronica, like a freaked-out epileptic mashup of Atari Teenage Riot, Dying Fetus, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Venetian Snares, Blut Aus Nord, and John Zorn. Akin to Drumcorps, Bong-Ra, Dataclast, Noism, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Reptiljan, Mulk and DHR. Digipak.
