Maeror Tri MAEROR TRI - 'Mind Reversal' CD (Infinite Fog Productions)

Welcome, to the early days of this cult formation! Maeror Tri (1998-1996) were a German trio that used only electric guitars and processing devices to create their floating and static droning soundscapes. Knappe and Gitschel formed Troum, Siehl formed 1000schoen. "Mind Reversal" was recorded 20 years ago, and only backwards-sound was used for this album. This is the fourth edition of this magic album which was released twice on cassette and once on CDr. Now it's the time for a proper CD release! Limited to just 270 copies in a stunning digibook with exclusive art from a talented St Petersburg painter.

Repress of the first CD release by Maeror Tri (1993, Korm Plastics). "Multiple Personality Disorder" is a concept CD divided in four long parts recorded back in 1991 that fully showcase their mastery in distorting drones and layering guitar sounds. Stefan Knappe and Martin Siehl now record under the guise of Troum. Presented in a very nice 6-panel digifile with booklet and postcard, featuring the original (yet unused) cover for the album's initial 1993 release.   Maeror Tri MAEROR TRI - 'The A.V.E. - Tapes / Live In Nevers' CD (Zhelezobeton)

Maeror Tri existed from 1988-1996 (members now recording as Troum and 1000schoen). Over those nine years they made a serious contribution to the development of the European post-industrial scene, focusing on the transcendental quality of sound, its ability to expand consciousness and to awaken timeless and non-personal spiritual experiences. They recorded their industrial drone ambient music with the use of guitars, percussion, tape loops, various objects and effects, turning everything in a coherent flux of unconscious drones. This CD contains the last unreleased recordings by Maeror Tri. Four tracks are fragments of the band's 12-hour concert at the Audio-Visual-Experimental festival in Arnhem, Netherlands in November 1995; the fifth track is a part of their performance at the Musique Ultimes festival in Nevers, France in May 1995. The material was remastered from the original DAT tapes by Sergey Uak-Kib (Kshatriy). Ltd x 500 hand-numbered copies in a digifile with artwork by Vresnit.

Martin Bates / Troum MARTYN BATES & TROUM - 'To A Child Dancing In The Wind' CD (Transgredient)

Profound songs inspired by the poems of Irish poet Yeats. The acoustic transformation of the deepest yearning. German duo Troum teamed up with the legendary british singer / songwriter Martyn Bates of Eyeless In Gaza. Beginning with sound structures, drones and minimal loops by Troum, Bates sung and played over this basic material - which was subsequently added to and mastered by Troum. Sensitive, sublime and harmonic. Presented in a beautiful 6-panel digipak with images by Bates.

Moljebka Pulse / Fin De Siecle MOLJEBKA PVLSE - 'The Leaves Of Their Songs' CD (Fin De Siècle Media)

Moljebka Pvlse is Mathias Josefson from Stockholm, Sweden. With releases on labels such as Eibon, Segerhuva and Cold Meat Industry, he has become one of the most appreciated purveyors of ambient drone music. While the previous album "Tamon" was an excursion into static and distortion, "The Leaves of Their Songs" is a return to the earlier hypnotic audio sculptures. Once again, Moljebka Pvlse combines heavily processed guitars and electronics to perfection, creating six tracks of mind-bending ambient minimalism in the vein of Troum and Thomas Köner.

This is something you could call a "dreamlike liaison". When the Canadian "avant metal / drone doom" duo Nadja and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers Troum (years ago active as Maeror Tri) combine their exceptional styles, they form something even vaster as usually known from them. These three long collaboration tracks were recorded as a result of a spontaneous improvisation in April 2008 "live in the studio" near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany, and suck you in with their powerful and emotional drone melancholy that works in many micro and macrocosmic ways, using electric and acoustic guitars, bass, accordion, drum-machine and voice.   Re-Drum RE-DRUM - 'S' CD (Zoharum)

An excellent piece of work by Pavel Aleshin, whose drone soundscapes have previously been released by Oophoi's record label Umbra and Slovakia-based Black Orchid Productions. The album explores the area of sacral and infinite, hence the title. "S" can be seen as their symbol. Re-Drum was founded in 2002 by Pavel Aleshin. The sound of Re-Drum variates from deep drone / noise soundscapes, to light, warm, even melodical textures. For fans of Robert Rich, Lustmord, Troum, Maeror Tri, Lull or Yen Pox. Digipak.

Skinwell SKINWELL - 'Tunnels' CD (.ANGLE.REC.)

A whole assortment of subtle electronic pulsations are concocted here by Christian Corvellec, always adequately supporting the sound fabrics woven by Martin Dumais (Aun), and which also are their starting point. A light at the end of the tunnel, penetrating different fissures along the walls, penetrating our mind with echoes. One only has to imagine a minimal tech project gone the drone-ocean way… pulsations are always there, but tinged with a sonic fog that is heavy, damp and fluid at the same time and which always suggests, in the end, uncertain twists and turns in this crossing of tunnels. Mastered by John Sellekaers (Xingu Hill, Urawa). File next to Cranioclast, Troum and Zoviet France. Ltd x 333 numbered copies in a deluxe cardboard sleeve with spot-varnish.

Strange mix of one long track, `Law`, on Side A, featuring bass guitar, guitars and Italian spoken vocals. Would appeal to maybe leftfield guitar experimental fans, or a little like some MAIN or TROUM. Nice picture disc. Side B is a different animal, po-faced drum patterns, often very similar to PANORAMA or BAPTISM-era LAIBACH. Ltd x 500 numbered copies with clear sleeve.

Troum TROUM - 'Eald-Ge-Stréon' CD (Beta-Lactam Ring Records)

Welcome to the Thunderdome. Troum’s bone-cracking reverberations respirate with such ferocity that all non-Troum molecules are blown away. "Eald-Ge-Stréon" is a massive, rising beauty. It is a great becoming, and we are nothing but an ant in the afterbirth. Troum has set its controls beyond the heart of the Sunn. The pulsating inferno of these 7 drone concertos may require an insurance adjuster, but what a lovely way to burn. It is in your nature to do one thing correctly. Before Troum, you rightly tremble. But fear is not what you owe Troum. You owe Troum awe! Comes in mini-gatefold cover with strange metallic silver-blue layout by Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Thorr's Hammer, Gravetemple, Æthenor etc) and photography by Seldon Hunt.

Reissue of two 10" from the years 1998 and 2003. "Daur" (was the very first release of Troum (Ltd x 300, Cohort Records) and it presents very post-rock sounding material with a lot of decipherable guitar parts and a good drive. "Ljubimaya" was released by the Russian label Waystyx (Ltd x 455) and carries you towards a lyrical and touchy eternity of ever-beginning melodies without an end, into the emptiness of existence with all the uterine roar provided by Yen Pox on one of the tracks.   Troum TROUM - 'Mare Idiophonika' CD (Silken Tofu)

"Mare Idiophonika" ('The Self-Playing Ocean') is the new album by the German duo Troum and contains the studio-version of the live programme Troum performed in 2007, with a new ending added later. Using bass, guitars, metal objects, voices and choirs and for the first time also singing-bowls and ‘dry' beats Troum creates yet another magnificent journey into unknown dimensions. Its sounds are stunning and enchanting, leaving one in a state of bewilderment while exploring the world of the unconscious. With its compelling drones and haunting atmosphere Mare Idiophonika is a masterpiece of transcendental soundscapes. It is a mind-blowing dreamy and moving experience, reaching out towards the inner self and beyond. European Edition. Ltd x 500 copies in an A5 6-panel folder with black & silver print.

Troum / 7inch TROUM - 'Nargis' 7" (Viva Hate Records)

A continuation of Maeror Tri, this is dark, moody, contemplative ambient / drone material. "The first half of this single still sounds like Troum, but is unlike anything we've heard from them, strange looped high end guitar, what sounds like backwards chords, almost choral vocals, dramatic and haunting and cinematic... over a distant grinding low end tone drifting way off in the background, washed over by epic sweeping swells.. The other side is a bit more raw and intense, a seriously corrosive guitarscape, distorted and crumbling chordal buzz, looped and layered into a strange glacial riff... it manages to be intense and fierce but also gloriously washed out and blissful."   Troum TROUM - 'Ryna' CD (Transgredient)

This is the much-welcomed re-release of Troum's debut album, first released in an edition of 500 copies on Myotis Records in October 1998. "Troum is the next step in the evolution of Maeror Tri, taking the highly processed guitar ambiance of their previous venture and channeling it through a more tumultuous, volatile outlet... The general feel of the sounds here is reminiscent of the earth moving, tectonic plates in constant shuffle, the tracks building and then either shifting or worn away via attrition. It‘s as if Maeror Tri learned to fly through ingenuity, smoke and mirrors, while Troum has taken the ingenuity, smoke and mirrors and, somehow, grown wings." [Side-Line].   Troum TROUM - 'Sigqan' CD (Transgredient)

2009 reissue of Troum's 2003 album (Desolation House). "Deep beneath the ocean is a world of mystery, wonder, darkness, and danger. Even if it weren't for the cover art of this German duo's brilliant new album, there is unmistakably no other place in the universe that has influenced the sounds and movement of what is represented within. These drones are not passive in the least. The depth and volume are all encompassing, and moving slowly but steadily like an ancient and lonely large whale through the graveyards of shipwrecks... The intangible overwhelming feeling of weight and pressure is unavoidable and inescapable, like being frozen in a dream, unable to move, but calm and comforting all the same...." (Brainwashed).
