BOCKSHOLM - 'The Sound Of Black Cloggs' CD (Tesco USA)
(2003) Recorded at the God Blast America! festival in New York, September 2002, "The Sound of Black Cloggs" captures the first live performance of Bocksholm, the industrial collaboration between Peter Andersson (Raison D'etre) and Lina Baby Doll (Deutsch Nepal). In their 2nd full-length release, the Dionysian duo stamp out two new songs plus live versions of tracks from their debut CD "Excursions By The Bank Of The Black River". The result is over 46 minutes of angst-filled ambience, noises, vocals and rhythms wrought from the sounds and memories of growing up in the Swedish industrial town of Boxholm and its surrounding ironworks. (2006) This beautiful and unique documentary piece, recorded at the Walker Stage in New York City on November 10, 2002, is a career-spanning collection of 29 tracks, each receiving a definitive live performance in DIJ's more recent stripped-down acoustic arrangements. Death in June has been the vehicle for Douglas P. to create a unique fusion of electronics, martial drumming (from John Murphy), and esoteric lyrics and visual symbolism. His work has spawned a new musical genre of its own, which some have called "Neofolk." While this disc will help the uninitiated to catch-up with one of the most important musical voices performing today, fans will appreciate that this DVD memorialises a concert that was nearly 21 years to the day that the band made its live debut, opening for The Birthday Party in London. The music is more or less a follow up to classical SPK - music like "Leichenschrei", hard aggressive screams rhythms and noiseloops with partly an tribal touch, all produced with old analog equipment, if there is a music to be labelled "old school" than here it is! Definitely something that closes a gap!!
