Dark Ages DARK AGES - 'Twilight Of Europe' CD (Inferna Profundus Records)

Dark Ages was created by Roman of Drudkh / Hate Forest in 2004. This is profound dark ambient from the Ukraine with a grim, haunting aura, full of menace and apocalyptic omens. From the breath of the Black Plague to the art of the Middle Ages, through to alchemy and the rise and fall of empires, each track sucks you into a bleak corner of European history. Total kulturpessimismus in the Lagardian vein. Originally released by Supernal Music in 2005, this reissue contains an exclusive bonus track and is released in a deluxe 6 panel digipak. Lithuanian import.

Dead Raven Choir DEAD RAVEN CHOIR - 'Cask Strength Black Metal' 2 x CD (Supernal Music)

DCD version of the Weird Forest 3LP boxset from Polish artist Smolken (Wolfmangler). The most insane black metal release ever! Harsh sounding evil, atmospheric off-kilter black metal. Call it black metal folk. The loudest noisiest crazy insane sounding blasts of skree with strange folky melodic undertones of banjo, cello, mandolin, and percussions and the most frightening vocals ever dared to be recorded. Many traditional folk songs shrouded in blasts of white noise armageddon. For fans of twisted, unique, raw black metal with a very bent edge. Pray (no, commit ritual sacrifice) to the underworld that your stereo survives! For fans of Leviathan, Gorgoroth, Draugar, Xasthur, Burzum etc.

Ethereal Woods ETHEREAL WOODS - 'Kenilworth' CD (Supernal Music)

"This third album sees Ethereal continuing the evolutionary trajectory they initiated with "In the Forest of Arden", which led them here towards an even heavier sound. Yet, while we hear rumbling frequencies and a rhythmical approach that are commonly associated with Death Metal, this duo retain their characteristically Doomy and melancholic sound, offering plenty of sorrowful harmonic melody and keyboard-driven magic. I am reminded at times of Decomposed, although Ethereal Woods is musically richer and more classically-influenced. The nature, mysticism and sylvan fantasy themes present in their previous two albums take here an explicitly Elizabethan turn. One is inevitably reminded of the sensibilities of a Sir Philip Sidney, although Blackmetalised and in much simplified form"(AK-47).

M87 M87 - 'Noctilucent Threnody' CD (Supernal Music)

Deep symphonic dark ambient space music. A completely alien and eerie experience of darkness and cold void desolation. M87 was created in 1995 by Huw Davies, inspirationally catalysed by a television documentary about Black Holes. Originally aiming to create music which expressed the strangeness and extremity of these elusive celestial objects, and as much aided by his extraordinary technical level as a guitar player as limited by his nonexistent technical level on any other instrument, Davies spent over a year developing and perfecting notation, playing, and recording techniques which would enable him to produce an alien orchestral sound with nothing but his 13 guitars and some recording equipment. Ltd x 1000 copies.
