DIFFERENT STATE & SIGILL - 'Spazmatic(k) Spell' CD (Zoharum)
This album, dedicated to Austin Osman Spare, includes 60 minutes of pure magickal sounds, conceived by Different State and Sigill. Each of them represents a slightly different approach, although they are both connected by mystical, alchemical, ritual characteristics. Marchoff (Different State) describes his music as alchembient - a mix of illbient, a great deal of alchemical incantations and moans. Sigill is a project consisting of Brat Salo and Nantur; a duo creating electronic lunar spaces and astral soundscapes using samples and ancient instruments. The material was conceived during winter solstice 2006. Issued in a stunning 6-panel glossy digipak.

The new cycle begins with clear refined beauty ambient, followed by various folk instruments, tranquil atmospheric passages and really old pagan chants, carrying the eternal tale about the magic origin of the world. IOSOPHIS - 'M' CD (Totsoluna Disc)
Second album by Iosophis, the Folk project born of the ashes of the Third Wave. Less minimal, more emotional and organic and all in all more undeniably “folk” than its predecessor "N", “M” was inspired and recorded live, three days after the Winter Solstice, in miscellaneous places such as small churches, ruins and forests near the centre of France. Sometimes reminiscent of 70s English Folk music, sometimes calling to mind the work of Scivias or Cascadian folk bands... Digipak.

KOJI ASANO - 'Polar Parliament' CD (Solstice)
46th (!!) album from prolific Japanese artist Koji Asano, recorded in 2011. Asano offers two lengthy tracks (weighing in at 67mintes), built on a single sound or two, with more warmth that the title would suggest. "Polar Parliament" is haunting and focused, a meditative and metallic drone. Asano knows his way around tones and silences, and the harmony between them. He has quietly become a fixture on the ambient scene, a legend with seemingly no desire for attention. He just works and works, with a staggering, constant imagination. Asano's music is intended to inspire and challenge and center the listener in his world. Snapcase.

MAURIZIO BIANCHI - 'Hibernum' CD (EE Tapes)
New work by the Italian Industrial legend. "A marginal division of the whole existence in four palpable seasons, marked by pestilential changes in emotional hemisphere. Seasonal differences in the reformistic exposure turn on the climatic sounds for a thermostatic solstice while modular equinoxes transit along the nodulous diagram of astronomical devices. Usually considered as ephemeral like consciousness neurectomy which includes a mixture of chronological elements. The principle of living originates from electric sources of materialistic disturbances for unequivocal substances. At the end, the hibernating organisms organise a reproducing molecule of environmental for a silent 'hybernum'. 3 lengthy, slowly shifting atmospheres for private meditation". Ltd x 300 copies in a silver print on black cardboard sleeve with insert.

SKARE - 'Solstice City' CD (Glacial Movements)
Skare is the collaboration of Swedish droners Mathias Josefson (Moljebka Pvlse), Per Åhlund (Diskrepant) and Fredrik Olofsson. The members of Skare are all fascinated by the circulation of water, snow and ice. The metamorphosis from gas to floating liquid to snow to solid ice through freezing, the light reflecting from the snow and filtered through the ice as a prisma and - most of all - the sound of this ever ongoing circle. "Solstice City" is an interpretation of a journey through a shifting landscape where the city meets nature. The vehicles used by Skare on this journey are field recordings, found sounds and treated and manipulated instruments. Digipak.
THE PSYCHOGEOGRAPHICAL COMMISSION - 'Patient Zero' CD (Acrobiotic Records)
This album is an attempt to psychologically portray the mind of a Patient Zero, wandering through their urban surroundings infected with the solar downturn at the Summer Solstice and tracking the advancement of symptoms as the sun goes from the height of its earthly power to its astronomical nadir. Feelings of old are transformed as the autumn progresses, infecting others and feeding back into the shared experience, changing perceptions and projecting a new reality as signifiers take on different and separate meanings. Written throughout the six month period at times of lunar or solar significance and in multiple locations across the UK, each song portrays a thought, experience or mood of the time and place of its conception. A true and faithful relation of the Sun's dark passenger. "Fans of Coil and Nurse with Wound may stumble upon a familiar brilliance here..." (Zero Tolerance). Slimline DVD case with insert.

URFYR - 'Lichtfeier' MCD (Licht Und Stahl)
Debut album from this fairly new project from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany. The music by this duo is entirely dedicated to Germanic mythology and heathen spirituality, as in this case, the celebration of the winter solstice. In their own words, they simply call it "runosophic ritual music". Expect an exciting blend of Dark Ambient, Neoclassical arrangements and rather synth/guitar-driven Neofolk 'n' Pop songs, not unlike some earlier Allerseelen. 29 mins of music. Ltd x 300 hand-numbered copies in an A5 folded sleeve.

VA - 'From Earth To Sirius' 2 x CD (Zoharum)
A form of message sent from the Earth to the brightest star, composed of 20 exclusive tracks prepared especially for this compilation. Sirius is the canine planet, the brightest star of the northern sky. Known since the ancient times, it has left an imprint on forming outlooks, beliefs, religious centres in many cultures. Even the ancient Egyptians worshipped Sirius as a deity, built their calendar on Sirius' cycle closely connected to the Nile tides before the summer solstice. In the 20th century the interest in the magical aspect of Sirius did not die out. Thanks to the Discordian groups with R.A. Wilson (the great philosopher to whom the compilation is dedicated) and T. Leary at the head, it is still being revived. The music on the album oscillates between psychedelic drone, dark ambient, tribal and down-tempo. Some of the projects approach the theme in the vein of ritualistic music; others realise their ideas through the sounds of universe and deep dark infinite space. Features: Ah Cama-Sotz, Apocalyptic Visions, Atomine Elektrine, Christblood, Different State, Electric Uranus, Emme Ya, Expo '70, Hybryds, Kallee, Kia Karma, Nordvargr, Ouroboros, Phelios, Rapoon, S.E.T.I., Therion Trismegistos, Unknown Caller, X-NAVI:ET and Zenial. Presented in a beautiful 6-panel digipak with silver print. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
