This album is considered a classic, yet defies easy categorisation. The music is lilting, hypnotic, and aesthetically quite pleasing to the ear. It features restructurings of works by The Carpenters, Rod McKuen, and Ragnar Redbeard, as well as original vitriolic and humanist pieces and misanthropic tunes by Rice. This album was inspired by Jackie Gleason's romantic recordings from the 1950's. Kind of like a uber-group of the "Apocalyptic Folk" set, the musicians included besides Boyd Rice (NON), Michael Moynihan (Blood Axis) and Douglas P. (Death In June) are Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus) Rose McDowall (Strawberry Switchblade) and Robert Ferbrache (Blood Axis). This album is worth it's price just for the cover image. CRISIS - 'Holocaust Hymns' CD (Apop Records)
Crisis came into existence in the late '70s amidst the British hardcore punk movement. They took the same energy that came from the youthful, raw anger of the Oi! movement, but with restrained lyrical phrasing and strict rhythms. Members include Douglas P. and Tony Wakeford who would later expand upon some of the Crisis material for their Neofolk group DEATH IN JUNE. Wakeford later went on to form SOL INVICTUS, whilst Luke Rendall and Lester Jones would later find involvement in Theatre Of Hate and Sex Gang Children, respectively. This is Crisis' entire remastered discography from 1978-1980, complete with a 12 page booklet featuring exclusive photos from Douglas P.'s private archives.

CRISIS - 'Hymns Of Faith' 12" (La Vida Es Un Mus)
Re-release for the first time on vinyl, since it's original release in may 1980 - the one and only 7 track album from seminal radical and political punk / post punk band Crisis. 'Hymns Of Faith' was Crisis at their more reserved. The guitar was more innovative than on the punk anthems on their earlier singles, but the lyrics were just as politically bitter. Lyrically the album deals with subjects such as TV, violence, totalitarian Russia and European terrorist organisations. This was their last effort, as it had all begun to fall apart by this time for Crisis, with the band members going in different directions. Douglas P. went on to form Death In June with Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus), and Luke Rendall went on to form Theatre Of Hate. 30 years since its release 'Hymns Of Faith' still sounds vital and honest. Debut album from this French Neofolk act. Ten songs about war, melancholy and the pagan roots of Europe. Two reworked versions of traditional British ballads ('Lord Gregory' and 'Two Ravens') make the album complete. Pale Roses have done their best to keep the instrumentation minimal, stripped down to the core, free of all non-essential arrangements. However, slight variations between songs keep the album from being repetitive. Although Pale Roses are ready to pay their dues to the founders of the Neofolk genre (Sol Invictus, Death In June and Fire+Ice), it is not far off to also mention Nick Drake, Nico or Richard Thompson as influences. Sol Invictus's first outing on Dark Vinyl is a nod back in the direction to a more earthy folk sound. Taken from Russian folklore the title track "Steeds For The Devil" concerns suicide, while there are the usual happy Tony Wakeford songs. Two traditional songs get the Sol Invictus treatment - "Twa Corbies" and "Three Knights Came from the West". Philip Larkin's poem "The North Ship" also becomes the basis for one song. Artwork on this release is from Tor Lundvall, with the first Limited edition coming in a 6 panel luxury digipak.

Wakeford's 4th solo album commemorates the life and work of the Polish-Ukrainian Jewish poetess Zuzanna Ginczanka, executed by the Gestapo in Kraków in 1944.
