ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE COSMIC INFERNO - 'Pink Lady Lemonade - You're So Sweet' CD (Riot Season)
(2008) The first AMT studio recordings since the addition of Pikachu, drummer and vocalist with Osaka grenade-girl duo Afrirampo. The popular AMT standard "Pink Lady Lemonade" showcases a 21st century acid rock update on the 60s San Francisco psychedelic sound. The Cosmic Inferno crew give PLL a new lease of life and reinvent it as a trippy / chilled out monster. As it rolls on, they sing - adding new riffs and taking it to the stars and back. It's like hearing it for the first time all over again. This really could be AMT's first 'summer album'. Unlike previous Cosmic Inferno albums - this one doesn't reach in the red status often - its more out there, like they've gone back to their mountain retreat and taken too much mushroom tea perhaps. But when it does finally soar, Kawabata's guitar has never sounded so alive. "Pink Lady Lemonade, You're from space, You're sooooo sweeeeeeeeet!"

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Acid Motherly Love' CD (Riot Season)
(2007) Now firmly fixed to a solid 4 piece (Tsuyama Atsushi, Higashi Hiroshi, Shimura Koji and Kawabata Makoto) with added guest vocalists, AMT return for yet another out-there ride through their weird and psychedelic world. Guitars howl, riffs grow bigger with each minute and brains get fried along the way. Recorded under falling ash and burning roof tiles, 'Acid Motherly Love' features every dimension of their legendary underground sound - from wild riff heavy jams, to quieter acoustic passages and spoken monologues, all capped by the trance inducing 15 minute-plus epic 'Santa Sanrodriguez'. Artwork features the obligatory naked Japanese babes in all their finery. God Bless AMT!

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Minstrel In The Galaxy' CD (Riot Season)
(2004) The AMT line up for this album features the core trio of Makoto Kawabata, Atsushi Tsuyama, Hiroshi Higashi and new permanent drummer (ex-Mainliner man) Hajime Koie. The free jazz style drumming from Hajime has helped give AMT their sense of improvisation back, which gives that great loose feel they have that takes them off on tangents and makes each new record that little bit different from the last. They’re joined on this album by Japanese underground queens Afrirampo. Musically this album is a slight departure for AMT, sounding darker and more stripped down that any previous AMT release. The title track alone lasts a staggering 41 minutes.

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Myth Of The Love Electrique' CD (Riot Season)
(2006) Musically sitting somewhere between their eponymous 1997 album and the classic 'out-there' double album 'Absolutely Freak Out (Zap Your Mind!!!)', 'Myth Of The Love Electrique' explores the many shades of the AMT sound, managing to be both wild and beautiful at the same time. From the 'in the red' guitar driven album opener 'The Man From Giacobinid Meteor Comet', to some quieter acoustic passages during 'Five Dimensional Nightmare', to the total barrage felt halfway through the 20 minute 'Love Electrique'. 'Myth Of The Love Electrique' fully explores the whole AMT sound for the first time in years. Live favourite 'Pink Lady Lemonade (May I Drink You Once Again?)', is included here on an AMT album for the first time in its normal length, complete with added space whispers from new AMT girl Kitagawa Hao, who fills the now departed Cotton Casino's tiny shoes elegantly.

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Wild Gals A Go-Go' CD (Riot Season / Swordfish)
(2007) 'Wild Gals A Go-Go' was originally self released in a 1300 limited edition on their own AMT label in 1999, and subsequently reissued on vinyl in 2004 (Eclipse). 'Wild Gals A Go-Go' is the 'lost' third album proper from the Japanese underground collective, it's original limited release was sandwiched between the albums 'Pataphisical Freak Out Mu!!' and 'Troubadours From Another Heavenly World' and has been unavailable on CD ever since. Purportedly the soundtrack to a Russian underground porn flick of the same name by director Ivan Piskov. 'Wild Gals A Go-Go' is comprised entirely of exclusive songs. Acid Mothers accompaniment to this psychedelic nonsense movie conceals potentially massive frontal lobe damage. Real punch-drunk music!

ALUK TODOLO - 'Descension' LP (Riot Season)
(2007) LP edition of first full-length from Aluk Todolo, showing the band developing the esoteric theorems established on it's debut 7" and going far deeper in the methodical exploration of the occult powers of musical trance. With the goal to create a timeless, organic mixing of krautrock's strangeness and black metal's coldness, AT conjures rabid obsessive rhythms and abyssal disharmonic guitars, subliminal spiritualist vibrations and bizarre, magick summonings. “Intense and hypnotic, heavy and fucking genius. Ritualistic sounds, both black and brilliant, pulled from the void, a mysterious and sonic netherworld. Definite contender for record of the year" [Aquarius]. Nicely presented in a silver-inked sleeve. Ltd x 500 copies.
Mainliner was started in 1995 by Asahito Nanjo from High Rise and Acid Mothers Temple leader Kawabata Makoto, in order 'to explore new possibilities' which would create 'a completely new type of heavy psychedelic group.' Mainliner introduced the world to the free-jazz drummer, Hajime Koizumi, and Kawabata Makoto's 'Motor Psycho' electric guitar. Japanese Psychedelic Noise at it’s best.

SHIT AND SHINE - 'Cherry' 2 x LP (Riot Season)
Shit And Shine return with their third Riot Season album 'Cherry'. Fusing their trademark long drum / bass led epics, freenoise freakouts and their short off the wall blasts, 'Cherry' takes on all sides of the Shit And Shine sound. Equal parts Strangulated Beatoffs, Butthole Surfers, Merzbow, Melvins and Boredoms, Shit And Shine fuse sonic blasts and monster riffs into a wretched brew. 14 songs, pressed over two LPs in a suitably garish sleeve. THE SKULL DEFEKTS - 'The Black Hand' LP (Riot Season)
'The Black Hand' is the first part of a trilogy on black vinyl investigating the power of deep drone and extreme sound and the beast that is creativity and sound. The Skull Defekts was formed by Henrik Rylander and Joachim Nordwall in early 2005 (the only members on this recording, normally a quartet). They have since collaborated with Damo Suzuki, Wolf Eyes, C.M. Von Hausswolff and Lasse Marhaug. Ltd x 500 copies with stunning black on black artwork by Fredrik Söderberg.
