Andreas Brandal ANDREAS BRANDAL – ‘Drive Home With A Hammer’ CD (Quasi Pop)

This is the first full-length CD release by Norwegian noise artist Andreas Brandal. “Drive Home With A Hammer” is not ‘just another noise record’. Once you hear it, you will be surprised by the unique sense of Andreas’ manipulation with interesting close-to-recognisable sounds. His skills in working with macro/micro audio-events helps him to create a powerful and impressive audio work using both vintage analogue equipment and modern computer tools. The smallest audio element that can indicate the way to the hidden layers and perspectives in sound. This album sounds very deep, organic and analogue, because hisses, brutal tape loops and glitches are the constant ingredients of Andreas’ output. The structure of the tracks is clear and irregular at the same time, the music flows freely, but not quiet, because it is created with both composition and improvisation methods. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak.

Alan Courtis / Edward Sol / 7inch ANLA COURTIS / EDWARD SOL - 'Sunburst Lux' 7" (Quasi Pop)

Both compositions on this record relate to (more or less) "tape music". The piece from Argentinian experimental master Anla Courtis (aka Alan Courtis) is solely based on manipulated sounds of geysers, recorded in South America. Ukrainian Edward Sol works with weird cassette loops, lo-fi oscillations and some primitive tones from his vintage USSR-made analogue synth Polyvox. Generally speaking, the sound of this record belongs to the monolith dark drone music. Ltd x 300 copies.

Astro / Cornucopia ASTRO & CORNUCOPIA - 'Deep Wind' CD (Quasi Pop)

The second collaboration between Japanese noise legend Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro) and duo Cornucopia from Puerto Rico, though the first one released on CD. Each of the two artists has created a lengthy track from sounds by the other artist. A totally psychedelic record, often in extreme frequencies and dynamics. Features some of Cornucopia's trademark pulsating sounds, while Astro's track is and unstoppable stream of deep, heavy and slow as hell noise magma. Physical, brutal and meditative - the pure beauty of modern extreme electronic music. Ltd x 500 copies in an outsized gatefold sleeve.

Lasse Marhaug LASSE MARHAUG - 'It's Not The End Of The World' CD (Quasi Pop)

On this record Norwegian experimental / noise hero Lasse Marhaug plays with the methods and traditions of serious electronic avantgarde that are integrated into the aesthetics of loud and bloody harch noise music. A damn hard, loud and overloaded skillful thing, but exciting and highly intelligent at the same time. Originally issued on Chinese label Doufo in 2006 as a limited release, this fully remastered version contains extra tracks. Ltd x 500 copies in a digipak with new, stunning collage artwork and design by Lasse Marhaug himself.

Escaping From Colour VA - 'Escaping From Color - Rapoon Recomposed & Remixed' CD (Quasi Pop)

The conception, the idea, realisation and sound sources of this CD are all based on original sound material (loops and sounds) from Rapoon's “Tribal Sci Fi” release. Not the entire original Rapoon's tracks have been re-mixed or re-composed, but the general “sound” (or the sound aesthetic of Rapoon's music) instead. All the artists have provided their own original compositions, more or less based on the audio-sources from Rapoon: Aidan Baker, Anla Courtis, Cisfinitum & Rapoon, Family Underground, Francisco Lopez, Gert-Jan Prins, Heimir Bjorgulfsson, Jorge Castro, Machinefabriek, Mike Shiflet, Paulo Raposo, Ronnie Sundin, Steve Roden, Troum and TV Pow. Ltd x 500 copies in a very nice digifile.

Volcano The Bear / 7inch VOLCANO THE BEAR - 'That People Don't Know Who They Are' 7" (Quasi Pop)

"One of the stranger bands that I encounter is Volcano The Bear. I never know what to think about them. Sometimes I seem to hate them, and sometimes I just love them. Perhaps its the format here that makes me love them, perhaps its also the fact that they are a rock band in my book and that such a format just works out fine. Two fine slabs of their mutated rock music, which ends up in a sorrowful ballad on 'That People Don't Know They Are Monsters', while on the other side the mutations work out in a more krautrock version. Two strange pieces, but they work well here on this format..." (Vital Weekly). You may think it's a ballad, noise, tribal shamanism, folk or acoustic. Ltd x 500 copies.
