JAZKAMER - 'Balls The Size Of Texas, Liver The Size Of Brazil' CD (Purple Soil)
(2007) What a great title! Jazkamer / Jazzkammer is the joining of two Norwegian composers / musicians: John Hegre and Lasse Marhaug. "Balls The Size Of Texas, Liver The Size Of Brazil" follows in the landscape of "Panic" (2006); slow-moving passages of weeping guitar, overlapped with textures of turntable surface-noise and distant location recordings. "This is one for the rainy days, or when you're longing for the prairie". Presented in a very nice 6-panel digifile. Czech import.

MICHAEL MANTRA - 'D#m / Gm' CD (Purple Soil)
"D#m / Gm" is an album of extended ambient listening of sonic icebergs, slowly shifting over time. The album is based in ultra minimal atmospheric dronecore - an exploration into the dark unknown of sombre sonic states, of the mysterious unknown, leveraging changes in states of feeling and states of consciousness. Presented in a stunning 6-panel digisleeve with images courtesy of NASA. Recommended!

OMENYA - 'Ancient Rites' CD (Purple Soil)
Heavily influenced by early Zoviet France and then later Rapoon, Mark Davis' music reflects and incorporates his interest in the esoteric rituals and ceremonies of various world religions. The mood is rather solemn; the tranquil music invites reflection. The music on this album never becomes wild or spectacular, just minimal, rather distant ritual ambient music. Organic and electronic means together create a quite interesting soundscape.
One very subtle long ambient track (clocking in at just under 70 minutes) resulting from a live collaboration between these three acts in Mir, Oslo, 2000. An excellent quality live document. Originally a limited released by Amber Music For The Tattooed Frog, this CD edition is presented in a stunning 6-panel matt digifile with inserts.

TORE HONORE BOE - 'Suave Siesta' CD (Purple Soil)
Solo project from the instigator of Origami Republika / Galaktika (& other related projects). This very nice CD, in essence, contains two releases on one disc. One is a reissue of an out of print Jazzassin release called 'Siesta'. The other release, 'Suave', is new material created in the same vein as Siesta, which uses field recordings, minimally processed sounds with plenty of silence and devices referred to as "analog laptops".
