Amber Asylum AMBER ASYLUM - 'Still Point' CD (Profound Lore Records)

(2007) One of the most inspiring Neoclassical chamber music acts around. Along with “Still Point” being the most polarizing observation within the Amber Asylum repertoire, the journey that the listener will undertake in such a pilgrimage will be one where sombre and lush cinematic orchestrations parallel with voices of darkly angelic wonder. Through an incredible dark mood-shifting sound journey, where the lines between despair and hope become blurred through an elegant cascading blanket of dense rich comforting fog, “Still Point” is an unforgettable jaunt that will offer that haunting embrace that we cannot help but simply welcome. Digisleeve with sticker.

Atavist ATAVIST - 'II:Ruined' CD (Profound Lore Records)

(2007) Divided into chapters, but works best as one long song, “II:Ruined” is a massive plunge through crawling and pounding vibes of distorted madness, bass-heavy frequencies, methodically played drums, and utterly painful virulent vocals, all filtered through pure unbridled atmosphere and ambience. A sonic scenario where every negative emotion conceived manifests into beyond epic proportions. Featuring guest appearances from Crippled Black Phoenix founder Justin Greaves (ex-Electric Wizard / Iron Monkey), and UK songstress Rose Kemp, “II:Ruined” will appeal to those who worship at the altar of such bands like Khanate, Sunn O))) and Corrupted respectively. This North American edition comes in a gorgeously designed 8-panel digipak and contains an exclusive bonus track. Also, if you look very closely within the layout, you will find Morse Code which leads to exclusive audio online!

Atavist / Nadja ATAVIST / NADJA - 'II:Points At Infinity' CD (Profound Lore Records)

(2008) Spanning two epic elongated tracks (around 22 minutes each), “Points At Infinity” goes much further substance and depth wise than the first experimentation these two acts converged in. Taking this experiment between both acts to the next level, “Points At Infinity” takes the doom / drone / ambient experiment into new territory as both acts continue to push new sonic ground. “Points At Infinity” also marks the first Atavist recording featuring the new Atavist line-up which consists of new vocalist Matt Bartley and ex-Narcosis bass player Oliver Turner. Of course Nadja is and always will be Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff. 6-panel digipak.

Half Makeshift HALF MAKESHIFT - 'Omen' CD (Profound Lore Records)

(2008) “Omen” is a devastating observation of formidable experimental ambient drone-like subtle mastery. With moments that remind of Nadja, Sunn O))), Godspeed! You Black Emperor and A Silver Mount Zion, “Omen” is an opus of dense and flowing sonic terrain where cinematic sound visions create vast, desperate, and devastating scenarios, almost serving its purpose like a desperate doomsday soundtrack. Working as a 50+ minute track, but separated into four parts, “Omen” subtly shifts through different emotions and moods; soothing and comforting, yet at the same time virulent and uneasy, and ultimately eerie and chilling. The incredible use of melody via light guitar strums and guitar ambience, melded with waves of static bursts and ivory key tappings, create the build-up that will inevitably come in the form of massive drone rumblings. This is the final work of Half Makeshift. Mastered by James Plotkin (Old, Khanate). 6-panel digipak.

Nadja NADJA - 'Bliss From The Emptiness' CD (Profound Lore Records)

Reissue of the extremely limited (60 copies) release on Fargone Records (2005) from the Toronto duo of Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff. The original release consisted of just one track. This special re-release has been given the ultimate facelift. Still characteristically (and aesthetically) seen as one long track (here stretched out to more than 51 minutes), this time though broken down into three segments / parts / tracks respectively. This Doom / Dark Ambient / Drone creation was mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate). Presented in a stunning 8-panel digipak with sticker.
