Andrew Liles / Jean Herve-Peron ANDREW LILES & JEAN HERVE-PERON - 'Fini!' CD (Dirter)

An incredible album from Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound) and Jean-Hervé Peron (Faust). Here is something that sounds like a both a “Krautrock” album and also like nothing you can imagine. Its twists and turns keep surprising and thrilling you several listens on from the first. The words “classic” and masterpiece” would not be out of place here. Both Faust and NWW are touring all over the World this year, and profile for both of these legendary acts has never been higher. This release is packaged in a gloss laminated digipak, with artwork by Liles.

Andrew Liles ANDREW LILES - 'In My Father's House Are Many Mansions' CD (Fourth Dimension)

Various artists remixing, re-ordering, adding and subtracting the recordings of Andrew Liles: Aaron Moore, Aranos, Band Of Pain, Bass Communion, Colin Potter, Darren Tate, Freiband, Irr. App (Ext), Jonathan Coleclough, Nurse With Wound, Paul Bradley, Ruse, The Hafler Trio, Unsong and Vidna Obmana. "It is interesting to note that as much as these tracks are made by individual artists with individual styles, this CD still sounds as a coherent project, which makes for enjoyable listening and is probably why this is released under the name Andrew Liles. Another intriguing and highly enjoyable addition to the already impressive Liles-catalogue" (Vital Weekly).

Andrew Liles / Jean-Hervé Peron ANDREW LILES - 'My Long Accumulating Discontent' CD (Nextera)

'My Long Accumulating Discontent’ is the fourth and certainly the strangest recording from Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound). This CD is in places more ‘melodic’ than Liles’ previous output and its 17 tracks cover a wide musical territory. Some songs are short and harmonious, other pieces are longer, subtle and contemplative with drifting delicate drones. In places the CD is truly bizarre and defies all conventions. The album doesn’t fit easily into any definable bracket and we feel this oddity belongs in a class all of its own. Traditional English vernacular culture connoisseur Andrew King joins Andrew Liles for one track and Aaron Moore and Nick Mott of Volcano the Bear contribute to several other songs. A distinct and peculiar excursion from the norm.

David Jackman / 10inch DAVID JACKMAN - 'Edge Of Nothing' 10" (Die Stadt)

"Edge Of Nothing" was first released in a cassette edition of 5 (!) copies on Jackman’s Aeroplane imprint, and then included on the legendary “The Elephant Table Album” DLP in 1983 (feat. Coil, Nurse With Wound, SPK, Lustmord etc). Both tracks presented here are the January 2003 mixes of the original material, which was derived from variously stimulating a cymbal with bows, knuckles, loops etc. An extremely dense piece of experimental noise where (allegedly) the B side is the A side reversed. Regular edition of 400 copies.

Diana Rogerson / Andrew Liles DIANA ROGERSON & ANDREW LILES - 'No Birds Do Sing' CD (Dirter)

Everyone’s belle de jour Diana Rogerson and Andrew Liles got together to create what we regard as one of the most considered and well conceived albums Liles has been part of. 'No Birds do Sing' can only be described as a hallucinogenic voyage of disconcerting mysticism and cosmic pandemonium and is a recording he's very proud of. This disc is a completely black and comes in a stunning super high gloss digipack with artwork by Babs Santini (aka Steven Stapleton / Nurse With Wound).

Entracte / VinylLP ESTHER VENROOY - 'Shift Coordinate Points' LP (Entr'Acte)

Singular work from this Dutch-born Belgian composer who isolates elements from The Conet Project’s macabre collection of secret shortwave "number stations" and assembles them in massively brooding late night dronescapes, repeat tone clusters and flashes of phantom electricity. Something supremely disconcerting about the mechanised voices and occult number calls and put in this context the whole piece takes on a bizarre / surreal almost Nurse With Wound air. 'Shift Coordinate Points' refers to an excerpt from William Burrough's novel 'Nova Express. Edition of 300 copies.

Forms Of Things Unknown FORMS OF THINGS UNKNOWN - 'Cross Purposes' CD (Panaxis)

£5 Meltdown The debut of Forms Of Things Unknown is a five-track, 30-minute EP of music ranging from dark ambient dirge to medieval sacred song to jazz-inflected art rock. Forms Of Things Unknown is the delinquent brainchild of San Francisco multi-instrumentalist Ferrara Brain Pan. His musical career includes early collaborations with noise music pioneer Boyd Rice (NON), and a fortuitous uncredited appearance on 1994's 'Rien' by Krautrock legends Faust (produced by Jim O’Rourke). 'Cross Purposes' was mixed and produced from material played entirely by Ferrara Brain Pan, excepting vocal performances by Bob Ayres and Shannon Wolfe and a cameo guest appearance by 'Babs Santini' aka Steven Stapleton of renowned musical subversives Nurse With Wound.

Merzbow MERZBOW - 'Puroland' CD (OHM Records)

This disc from the Japanese master builds after many minutes into noise, but this is structured, rhythmic, surging blasts of localised power. Reminds of old Skullflower, Holland Skin Tunnel, a loud Nurse With Wound. This is because it feels so instrumental, almost as if a guitar or two are involved in this. From there we return to Akita's early style where the walls of noise were not so loud and thick. There are very obvious variations and mechanical changes within the piece, creating patterns and moods. Digipak.

Moljebka Pulse MOLJEBKA PVLSE - 'Sadalsuud' CD (Some Place Else)

For this album, Mathias Josefson collaborated with colleagues from the Royal University Of Arts, Stockholm, who provided him with various sound sources. "Sadalsuud" refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is quite reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. Digipak, Finnish import.

Nerves And Gel NERVESANDGEL - 'NervesAndGel' 2 x CD (Discriminate Audio)

"From dirty socks to Sybian machines, the thrill of autoeroticism finds its way into the weirdest outlets. Johnny Wohlfahrt alone is Nervesandgel, perhaps the most self-indulgent entity the Denver music scene has ever birthed. Recorded across four years and two full discs, his eponymous opus occupies the hitherto hidden space between David Tibet and Will Cullen Hart, lubing up fractured acoustic pop with a slippery fistful of fizzy ambience and electronic squawks... The record's climax lies in the Nurse With Wound-inspired "So Confusing Yet Oh So Beautiful" - a title that, naturally, ends up being a perfect self-description. After all, there's no one better at servicing Nervesandgel than Nervesandgel itself."

Nurse With Wound NURSE WITH WOUND - 'Huffin' Rag Blues' CD (Dirter)

The first NWW album for over 4 years, "Huffin' Rag Blues" is the inevitable conclusion of Steven Stapleton and Andrew Liles' passion for easy listening and lounge jazz. Contorted and carved into a distinctly Nurse With Wound sound "Huffin' Rag Blues" is a greasy amalgam of uneasy listening, shaken and stirred Molotov cocktails and quixotica. Full to the brim with squeals, screams, smokey vocals, drunken double basses, melting vibraphones and internal organs from outer space this album is an unlikely and unique excursion from beginning to end. As with all NWW recordings it goes without saying... expect the unexpected.

Sehnsucht / Wuste SEHNSUCHT - 'Wüste' CD (Cold Spring CSR124CD)

Former MAYHEM front man MANIAC, whose band SKITLIV has proved to be a surprising departure from the Black Metal genre for which he was best known for over 20 years, has formed a side-project with fiancé Vivian Slaughter, bass player/vocalist with the Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER, SKITLIV's guitarist Ingvar Magnusson and experimentalist Andrew Liles (NURSE WITH WOUND). Unlike SKITLIV, which is a noise/doom amalgam, with Maniacs vocals still firmly rooted in Black Metal, SEHNSUCHT is in the noise / darkwave / ambient genre, with any vestiges of Black Metal pared away. 6-panel digipak.

Reissue of a limited self-release 'map book' edition (Ltd 250). Named after the Roman mythological 'Spirit of the Place' the Psychogeographical Commission's debut album attempts to explore further the psycho-geographical nature of our built environment and the people who inhabit it through dérive, magick and sonic experimentation. It is therefore written to be played whilst interacting with a city - London to be precise. "Fans of Coil and Nurse with Wound may stumble upon a familiar brilliance here and would do well to pick this one up if you can find it" (Zero Tolerance). Slimline DVD case with insert. The Wardrobe is an experimental project by ambient artist Andrew Liles (live member of Nurse With Wound) and Tony Wakeford (Sol Invictus). The second album by this project, "A Sandwich Short" features a brand new version of "Lucifer Before Sunrise" which originally appeared some 14 years ago on the "Revenge of the Selfish Shellfish" album ( Wakeford / Stapleton). "Legenda" is the second official CD by Verde, lead by electronics madman Mika Rintala (ex-Circle). "Legenda" is a logical continuum of the 1960's and 1970's wild electronic experiments and general recklessness of Finnish Underground Music, with evident influences of Krautrock heroes Faust, Can, Neu and Amon Düül - and the early Industrial pioneers Nurse With Wound, Throbbing Gristle etc. "The music of Verde is not meant for superficial listening. Verde challenge their listeners instead of trying to please them". Limited edition of 500 copies in a beautiful digipak.

Originally recorded in 1980, 'Erector' was harsher and less 'industrial' sounding than the first two albums and arguably became the seminal influence, along with 'The 150 Murderous Passions' LP, for the subsequent wave in the mid / late 80s of noise projects (in particular Japanese). Also featured for the first time in vinyl format is the originally banned cover art by Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound). Heavy weight vinyl in a glossy sleeve.
