"Edge Of Nothing" was first released in a cassette edition of 5 (!) copies on Jackman’s Aeroplane imprint, and then included on the legendary “The Elephant Table Album” DLP in 1983 (feat. Both tracks presented here are the January 2003 mixes of the original material, which was derived from variously stimulating a cymbal with bows, knuckles, loops etc. An extremely dense piece of experimental noise where (allegedly) the B side is the A side reversed. Everyone’s belle de jour Diana Rogerson and Andrew Liles got together to create what we regard as one of the most considered and well conceived albums Liles has been part of. 'No Birds do Sing' can only be described as a hallucinogenic voyage of disconcerting mysticism and cosmic pandemonium and is a recording he's very proud of. This disc is a completely black and comes in a stunning super high gloss digipack with artwork by Babs Santini (aka Steven Stapleton / Nurse With Wound).
Singular work from this Dutch-born Belgian composer who isolates elements from The Conet Project’s macabre collection of secret shortwave "number stations" and assembles them in massively brooding late night dronescapes, repeat tone clusters and flashes of phantom electricity. Something supremely disconcerting about the mechanised voices and occult number calls and put in this context the whole piece takes on a bizarre / surreal almost Nurse With Wound air. 'Shift Coordinate Points' refers to an excerpt from William Burrough's novel 'Nova Express. Edition of 300 copies.

The pieces that make up "The Eureka Tapes" were all created while Hoor-paar-Kraat’s Anthony Mangicapra was living in the town of Eureka, California. Indeed, the town’s name is apt as they represent a “Eurekamoment” for Hoor-paar-Kraat as a musical entity; a figurative spilling of the bath waters as Hoor-paar-Kraat found their sound. The hints of alchemical transcendence that peeped through the cracks of previous releases come brazenly into view throughout. Music dissolves into explorations of texture, acoustic phenomena and the psyche. Originally issued as three separate volumes in a variety of hard to find formats, "The Eureka Tapes" collects the three original volumes, plus Hoor-paar-Kraat’s side of their split cassette with Last and a previously unreleased recording from the same sessions. Hoor-paar-Kraat’s music finds itself travelling the same surreal by-ways as Nurse With Wound, irr. app. (ext.), The Hafler Trio and Coil’s more ritualistic output.
IRR. APT. (EXT.) - 'Kreiselwelle' CD (Helen Scarsdale Agency)
Irr. app. (ext.) is a project of Californian M.S. Waldron (recent live member of Nurse With Wound). "Kreiselwelle" ("Spiral Wave") is the third and final installment to a body of works composed under the influence of Wilhelm Reich, the unorthodox 20th Century psychologist. Waldron returns to the same collection of field recordings which began this trilogy; however, he restricted himself to those with spiralling origins: resonating springs, the ocean cyclically churning over pebbles on the beach, the wafting of air around various objects... A richly dark and oddly serene amalgamation. Nice artwork with spot varnishing.

The Haunting Triptych is a collaboration between K11 (aka Pietro Ribarbelli) and Philippe Petit. A haunted Drone, Electro-acoustic, Dark ambient soundtrack, giving an impression that some ghosts are lurking around… dragging listeners inside a world full of malevolent creatures. Three long drones full, not unlike some works of Lustmord or Nurse With Wound, the sound is heavy and claustrophobic and the downward spiral brings you to the final end, where the last sound you hear before losing your senses is the beast eating your flesh. This disc from the Japanese master builds after many minutes into noise, but this is structured, rhythmic, surging blasts of localised power. Reminds of old Skullflower, Holland Skin Tunnel, a loud Nurse With Wound. This is because it feels so instrumental, almost as if a guitar or two are involved in this. From there we return to Akita's early style where the walls of noise were not so loud and thick. There are very obvious variations and mechanical changes within the piece, creating patterns and moods. Digipak.

MOLJEBKA PVLSE - 'Sadalsuud' CD (Some Place Else)
For this album, Mathias Josefson collaborated with colleagues from the Royal University Of Arts, Stockholm, who provided him with various sound sources. "Sadalsuud" refers to a star of the same name in the constellation of Aquarius. The name comes from an Arabic phrase meaning "the luckiest of them all". Nevertheless the album is rather earthy-sounding, yet mystical and surreal, almost claustrophobic at times. The sound is quite reminiscent of some works by Nurse With Wound, Maeror Tri or The Hafler Trio, but carries the trademark Moljebka Pvlse feel. Digipak, Finnish import.
