ALBIREON - 'Mr. Nightbird Hates Blueberries' CD (Old Europa Cafe)
A dark comedy or a folk drama about drunk birds, mocking spiders, empty bottles and lost souls. For this decadent party, recorded between late 2008 to early 2010 and graced by great emotional neofolk ballads and more experimental gloomy soundscapes, Albireon invited some very selected guests to share this tasty blueberry cake and offer the album a different palette of vocal nuances and a multi-national coven of damned artists' parade: David E. Williams, Lloyd James (Naevus), Sonne Hagal, Future Whirl (formerly Oberon) and Die Weisse Rose are the selected guests of Mr. Nightbird's party. These great artists offered a priceless contribution to Albireon's music and lyrics, and perfectly painted the sad main character, in his struggling pilgrimage toward love, loss, forgiveness and rebirth, but all seen through the drunk eye of the mocking spiders.
Brand new mini-album from the British Neofolk/post-punk act, NAEVUS. The group's sound has been described as "the wire of the dark folk scene" and "what swans would sound like if they were English", but there is much more to the group than this; their distinctive lyrics and modernist approach clearly set NAEVUS apart from their contemporaries. Available exclusively in 12" vinyl format only. Ltd x 300 copies.

NAEVUS - 'Relatively Close To The Sea' CD (Hau Ruck!)
For their sixth Naevus album, Londoners Lloyd James and Joanne Owen were joined by their regular drummer John Murphy (Knifeladder, Death In June). The album also features contributions from Greg Ferrari (Womb), Joanna Quail (SonVer), Matt Howden (Sieben) and Arthur Shaw (Cutty Sark). Many of the tracks here have already been performed live at recent Naevus festival appearancese. However, the tracks on offer branch out in a range of other directions; existential pop, murder balladry, slide guitar and lo-fi synths, progressive influences (Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, etc.) and John Cale-esque piano pounding. Packaged in a digipak with 12 page booklet.

RETARDER - 'Enquiries' CD (Tourette)
The solo debut of Lloyd James (Naevus). As Retarder, Lloyd sets out on a very edgy and stormy voyage, full of obstacles to overcome. A very experimental album, where no two tracks sound the same... piano improvisation, horns, mechanic riffs, vocal loops, multi-layered ambient, strummed guitar, deranged and distorted sounds, mysterious bleeps, strange effects, deranged vocals and a monologue. Open up all your senses and prepare for a while. Give it a shot. And then another. Ltd x 400 copies in a digipak.
