  Burning Star Core / 10inch BURNING STAR CORE - 'WSBC/SSS' 10 " (NO-FI)

The second in the series of super-limited 10”s from cincinnati’s basement noise terrorist C. Spencer Yeh. Where "Amelia" showed Yeh’s sensitive side, "WSBC/SSS" goes straight for the jugular with pure distorted punk noise, all rampant high end and a growling analogue core. However what sets Yeh away from so many of his contemporaries is that beneath all the hellish distortion and crushing doom is a sense of harmony and pastoral perfection. It’s not often in noise music that you get this kind of intense-yet-measured collision, but Yeh manages to pull it off magnificently resulting in a 10” which crosses genre boundaries in the most punk-rock fashion imaginable. Features special exclusive artwork from Wolf Eyes’ John Olson!

Mouthus / Yellow Swans / VinylLP MOUTHUS & YELLOW SWANS - 'Live On Conan Island' LP (NO-FI)

The ultimate East coast / West coast soundclash as Oregon’s Yellow Swans and Brooklyn’s Mouthus present a smouldering document from their onstage interactions on their 2006 US tour. The sound of Mouthus’s splat&clatter percussion and sheets of severely altered guitar and voice noise paired with Yellow Swans’ raucous axe-mangling and sublime noise processing make for a gargantuan oil tanker of sound that can’t avoid enveloping the listener. ‘Live On Conan Island’ is a range of monstrous caverns of free electro skronk, alt-percussion and wailing guitars. Gigantic!

RLW / DSM RALF WEHOWSKY & DAS SYNTHETISCHE MISCHGEWEBE - 'Die Eisenbüglerin' 2 x CD (Auf Abwegen)

The idea for this project was in the air since the late 1980s. RLW CD: the basic recordings were created by RLW from early-mid 2009, sound sources are instrumental (piano, trombone) and household objects. First detailed sketches of the compositions include heavily treated versions of these recordings, cross-modulations with sounds supplied by DSM and with DSM-variations of the RWL sounds sent to Caen. DSM CD: with very few exceptions he used only the original sound recordings of RLW, using treatments only what would be conceived to be already into the realm of the compositional strategies. Playing back recordings through 'no-fi equipment' and recording them again, while manipulating mechanically reproduction and recording devices. Ltd x 300 copies in an LP-sized sleeve reproducing an original drawing by Guido Hübner.

The One Ensemble Orchestra THE ONE ENSEMBLE ORCHESTRA - 'Other Thunders' CD (NO-FI)

Daniel Padden’s The One Ensemble began as a solo project and quickly morphed into a quartet with the recruitment of Chris Hladowski, Aby Vulliamy and Peter Nicholson. With Padden’s leadership, they developed a curious and strident brew of Eastern European folk, chamber music, a pinch of Robert Wyatt and some kind of earthy psychedelic primitivism. "...the range on display here is much wider than the typical gypsy / folk-aligned forms on prior one ensemble output ; the beefed-up instrumentation lends an almost Dmitri Tiomkin-ian flair with the massed choir & strings resonating strongly with each other as the band runs through takes ranging from minimal, gestural improv(s) to full-band drones & lurching, sea-shanty lineage ditties... awesome" (Mimaroglu). Digisleeve.
