ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Minstrel In The Galaxy' CD (Riot Season)
The AMT line up for this album features the core trio of Makoto Kawabata, Atsushi Tsuyama, Hiroshi Higashi and new permanent drummer (ex-Mainliner man) Hajime Koie. The free jazz style drumming from Hajime has helped give AMT their sense of improvisation back, which gives that great loose feel they have that takes them off on tangents and makes each new record that little bit different from the last. They’re joined on this album by Japanese underground queens Afrirampo. Musically this album is a slight departure for AMT, sounding darker and more stripped down that any previous AMT release. The title track alone lasts a staggering 41 minutes.

MAINLINER - 'Mainliner Sonic CD (Collapsar Records)
Reissue of the 1997 album from this Japanese Space-Psych-Rock group, originally released on Mason Jones' Charnel Music. Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple, Tsurubami), Yoshida Tatsuya (Acid Mothers Temple, Ruins, Zeni Geva) and Asahito Nanjo (High Rise). Mainliner Sonic merrily operates under the principle that nothing is not worth doing if not done in ways that make amplifiers sound like they are melting rapidly. Which is something that can be said about a variety of such groups from Japan, but with Makoto Kawabata credited as playing "motor psycho guitar", one can rest assured that it's probably going to sound pretty good! Mainliner find grooves and throttle them until they bleed, with acid freakout chaos. Ltd x 500 copies . Chinese import.

MUSICA TRANSONIC - 'Xyosfbigkou' CD (Vivo Records)
Wild and furious psychedelic madness by NANJO ASAHITO (High Rise, Mainliner) on bass, KAWABATA MAKOTO (Acid Mothers Temple) on guitar and YOSHIDA TATSUYA (Ruins) on drums. The musicianship is startline, the teasing, hurtling time signatures crammed into the tightest of spaces. A sparkling production illuminates the clean, abrupt tensions of each track. Ten mind-boggling new compositions from the exceptional trio. Extremely heavy psychedelia at its best! Packaged in a hardback 6-panel digisleeve.
