Acid Mother's Temple ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE & THE MELTING PARAISO U.F.O. - 'Minstrel In The Galaxy' CD (Riot Season)

(2004) The AMT line up for this album features the core trio of Makoto Kawabata, Atsushi Tsuyama, Hiroshi Higashi and new permanent drummer (ex-Mainliner man) Hajime Koie. The free jazz style drumming from Hajime has helped give AMT their sense of improvisation back, which gives that great loose feel they have that takes them off on tangents and makes each new record that little bit different from the last. They’re joined on this album by Japanese underground queens Afrirampo. Musically this album is a slight departure for AMT, sounding darker and more stripped down that any previous AMT release. The title track alone lasts a staggering 41 minutes.

Andromelos ANDROMELOS - 'Andromelos' CD (Ektro Records)

(2006) Debut release from Andromelos - a psychedelic Japanese supergroup formed by guitarist Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple, Nishinihon, Musica Transonic, Mainliner, Gong), electronics genius Yamazaki Maso (Masonna, Space Machine) and drummer Okano Futoshi (Nishinihon, ex Subert Blaze, ex Ghost). Droning organs and relatively calm electronics give way to a fully-fledged cosmic-kraut-rock-lovin-odyssey ala AMT and Space Machine, or 70s analogue-synth masters like Klaus Schulze or early Tangerine Dream. Ektro is the label of Jussi from Finnish legends Circle.

Mainliner MAINLINER - 'Mellow Out' CD (Riot Season)

Mainliner was started in 1995 by Asahito Nanjo from High Rise and Acid Mothers Temple leader Kawabata Makoto, in order 'to explore new possibilities' which would create 'a completely new type of heavy psychedelic group.' Mainliner introduced the world to the free-jazz drummer, Hajime Koizumi, and Kawabata Makoto's 'Motor Psycho' electric guitar. Japanese Psychedelic Noise at it’s best.
