Andrea Marutti ANDREA MARUTTI - ' The Subliminal Relation Between Planets - Live In Archiaro' CD (Nextera)

All music performed and recorded live by Andrea Marutti in Archiaro (Catanzaro, Italy) on August the 24th, 2007. "[Marutti] operates in the area that we could loosely identify as drone music, or ambient, but... this is of a much darker nature altogether. It's hard to tell what it is that he does; be it synthesizers, samplers, computer processing or just tons of sound effects, in the end the effect is a seventy-minute opus of dark, utter dark electronic music. The planets mentioned in the title may give away some of some of the darkness, and perhaps its all too easy to say that its pitch black as the stars by night, but on christmas eve, with stars bright and almost full moon, these sort of references may count. Think Lustmord meeting Mirror, the darkest fantasy of Klaus Schulze or such cosmic hero from yesteryear, and Andrea Marutti is your man" (Vital Weekly).

Collapsar COLLAPSAR - 'Beyond The Event Horizon' CD (Malignant Records)

Malignant presents another rising star within the dark ambient scene, this time in the form of French act Collapsar. With their debut CD, Collapsar transports the listener on an epic journey deep into the cosmos, forging a path across a vast, inky void, and steering a course around a roiling galactic core of hyper-dense stars and black holes. The sound is epic, expansive, and most of all, HEAVY. There is beauty and tranquility within these realms, but there is no light - just massive, pulsating textures coalescing into shimmering drones, rippling sound waves, and billowing, multi-dimensional layers of powerful dark energy. “Beyond the Event Horizon” is without question, dark ambient in its purest form and one of the more genre defining releases of the last several years. A must for fans of Inade, Lustmord etc. In 6 panel digipak, with design by eyelyft.

David Jackman / 10inch DAVID JACKMAN - 'Edge Of Nothing' 10" (Die Stadt)

"Edge Of Nothing" was first released in a cassette edition of 5 (!) copies on Jackman’s Aeroplane imprint, and then included on the legendary “The Elephant Table Album” DLP in 1983 (feat. Coil, Nurse With Wound, SPK, Lustmord etc). Both tracks presented here are the January 2003 mixes of the original material, which was derived from variously stimulating a cymbal with bows, knuckles, loops etc. An extremely dense piece of experimental noise where (allegedly) the B side is the A side reversed. Regular edition of 400 copies.

Fahl FAHL - 'The Paths To Emptiness' CD (The Eastern Front)

Debut opus from Fahl, founded by Dimo Dimov, Marcel P. and Cornelius Waldner in 2008. All the musicians are active participants in numerous groups from the dark folk, neoclassical and black metal genres. They felt a growing urge to experiment with dark ambient soundscapes, resulting in this mutual collaboration. The Paths To Emptiness is a haunting journey to the subconscious, divided into ten audial gateways to the occult and hidden forces of the inner self. Lyrically based on the Mahabharata, as well as poems and texts by John Milton, Jack London, Stefan George, Christian Dietrich Grabbe and Cornelius Waldner, this release is strongly recommended for fans of Brighter Death Now and Lustmord. Over 40 minutes of cavernous soundscapes (similar to Inade, Satori and Lustmord), moving into Vinterriket territory, with interesting tales of banshees and the pagan mythology of Ireland.   Gruntsplatter GRUNTSPLATTER - 'The Aberrant Laboratory' CD (Dark Vinyl)

The fourth release from Gruntsplatter builds a more transcendent atmosphere, weaving together a sustained darkness that conceals the grimy implements of the taboo nestled in the din. The brooding ambience and cutting frequencies combine with odd melody and an enveloping, fluid mix that lead you through the dirty laboratories and hovels of forbidden science where genius and atrocity meet on level ground. The familiar components of subtle detail, amorphous depth, and seething moods of Gruntsplatter are intact and further evolved here to allow the listeners thoughts to wander. Comparable to Blackhouse, Hunting Lodge, Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Lustmord etc.

Isolrubin BK ISOLRUBIN BK - 'Crash Injury Trauma' CD (Soleilmoon)

B. Lustmord released “Crash Injury Trauma” in 1993, as a side project, under the pseudonym Isolrubin BK. “Crash Injury Trauma” is a shocking and disturbing album, unflinching and relentless in its fascination with violent car accidents. Tires skid and horns blare, followed by the sickening sounds of crashing metal and shattering glass, screams, sirens and heart-pounding bass. It’s a cruel, sadistic and horrifying tour de force in the ambient and power electronics genre. Following “Heresy” and “The Monstrous Soul”, and preceding “The Place Where The Black Stars Hang”, the album was recorded during what is now considered a pivotal period in the British artist’s career. Out of print for nearly a decade, this new 2009 edition has been remastered from the ground up, and is presented in completely redesigned packaging.

K11 / Philippe Petit K11 & PHILIPPE PETIT - 'The Haunting Triptych' CD (Boring Machines)

The Haunting Triptych is a collaboration between K11 (aka Pietro Ribarbelli) and Philippe Petit. A haunted Drone, Electro-acoustic, Dark ambient soundtrack, giving an impression that some ghosts are lurking around… dragging listeners inside a world full of malevolent creatures. Three long drones full, not unlike some works of Lustmord or Nurse With Wound, the sound is heavy and claustrophobic and the downward spiral brings you to the final end, where the last sound you hear before losing your senses is the beast eating your flesh. Over 45mins of music in a spot-varnished ecosleeve.

Following "The Dark Places Of The Earth", "Beyond" is the second limited edition sequel to "Others". And just like its predecessor, it sees Lustmord digging deep into its sounds and atmospheres to go back to his "Where The Black Stars Hang" days. Again, gone are the gritty bits and guitars of "Others", as Brian Williams focuses here on what he does best: huge, monumental, pitch black spatial sounds that just need to be listened to as loud as possible.   Lustmord LUSTMORD - 'First - A Document Of Early Acoustic & Tactical Experimentation' CD (Dark Vinyl)

"First" was released as the first (untitled) Lustmord album on Sterile Records in 1982. The earliest Lustmord recordings show the project's industrial roots with a sound not far from Throbbing Gristle. This record incomparably represents art, ideology, uncompromising consequence and sound tactical proceeding of one of the most interesting, still existing members of the industrial music movement. "First" features John Balance of Coil and additional voices by Nigel Ayers of Nocturnal Emissions, and Nigel Dunster. The CD version features longer edits of some of the LP material, along with additional material (compilation tracks) not on the original.

Dub Remix EP of the Lustmord album [ O T H E R ]. Three obviously dubby, heavy and smokey reinterpreations of tracks taken from the original "[ O T H E R ] " album. Reminiscent of the "Lustmord vs Metal Beast" album, but full of gritty and stretched out riffs (think what had been done with the Melvins on "Juggernaut"), this last chapter is a bit beatier than the "Transmuted" vinyl, and fits very well with the rest of Lustmord's extremely deep and masterfully produced catalogue. Features Adam Jones of Tool. 40 minutes of music over 3 epic tracks! Comes in a shrinkwrapped card slip.

Maleficia / VinylLP MALEFICIA - 'Making / Remaking' LP (isounderscore)

"Maleficia is the bay area duo of Andy Way (Orchest, French Radio, Carrion) and Ilysea Viles Sunderman, who crafted this desolate, post-industrial smear of voice, violin, and electronics for the always impressive isounderscore label. With the titles of the two side long pieces being "Making" and "Remaking," Maleficia offers a crucible of elemental sounds being obliterated into a charred dust and rebuilt into ashen constructions of misery and disgust... The industrialized loops that wraps around the voice and violin come across like a slow-motion Maurizio Bianchi on par with the downer records he did with Land Use or the grim power electronic phase in the early '80s. Certainly for fans of Amber Asylum, early Lustmord, and the dark ambient aspects of Broken Flag" (Aquarius). Ltd x 400 copies.

Noisegate NOISEGATE - 'Suspended Animation Ambient Vol. I' CD (Tumult)

For their second full length album, this East Bay ambient act abandon the violent, corrosive noise that peppered their first full length and instead have created a dark and barren dronescape of ominous, almost imperceptibly shifting, deep, resonant rumbles. Shimmering luminescent shards of low end flow effortlessly through the glistening darkness while hazy tonal reverberations reflect microscopic textures, grey and austere. Breath-taking arrangements of hum and buzz, chime and soothe. Reminiscent of the isolationist experiments and drone investigations of Lustmord, Organum, Zoviet France, Andrew Chalk and Jonathan Coleclough.

Phaenon PHAENON - 'Submerged' CD (Malignant Records)

The debut release of Polish-born artist Szymon Tankiewicz, 'Submerged' is a dark ambient tour de force. Visually and sonically enveloping, this is an album of space and texture, slowly revealing a psychoactive soundscape of majestic, arcing timbres, circadian buzzes, and expansive drones. Heavy, and cosmically weighty in the beginning, 'Submerged' evolves into something more minimalist and serene, radiating a celestial beauty, yet becoming even more bleak and suffocating as it progresses over it‘s 66 minute time frame.   Scott Hull SCOTT HULL - 'Audiofilm 1' 3" CD (Crucial Blast)

Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) has been gradually revealing another side of his musical persona over the past few years; an obsession with cinematic soundscaping and dark evocative film scores, mutant electronic textures and pitch-black isolationism. This first part of the Audiofilm Series is a terrifying fug of demonic drone that utilises stereo panning and slabs of obsidian ambience, slowly unfolding over the length of the piece to reveal layers of malevolent black drone and unsettling voices, seemingly lost between planes of shadow. Raised in 2010 by the meeting of Belgian preachers Colin H. van Eeckhout (AmenRa, Kingdom, Blind to Faith), Mathieu Vandekerckhove (AmenRa, Kingdom, Syndrome) and French DehnSora (Treha Sektori), Sembler Deah is a journey behind words, gathered by a sole ambience, between ethereal soundscapes, knotted guitar drones and falls.
