Field recordings are deftly woven into soft swirling shimmering tones, guitars are spidery and delicate, spinning crystalline webs of hushed melody... pealing tones, and barely there melodies, drifting weightlessly through a field of minimal effects, and slow shifting whirs, as well as some mysterious field recordings, that make the end of the record feel like you've just come out of a trance, and found yourself back in the real world, which is not all that far off the mark. Blind Cave Salamander is a project by Fabrizio Modonese Palumbo (ex-Larsen) and Paul Beauchamp, backed up by sound designer, producer and engineer, Marco Milanesio, and legendary cello player Julia Kent. Sphere Rex is the solo project of MK (Cyclotimia), playing ambient in a traditional vein (uncommon for today), combining minimalism and a background style of electronic music a la Brian Eno and piano improvisations based on proto-ambient ideas of Erik Satie. This music is able to calm down and lull to sleep like alpha-wave rhythms or paint weird images guided by the surreal titles of compositions in one's imagination. A 15 minute long Stars of the Lid-esque track - slowly building with lots of hidden tension. WHITE HETEROSEXUALS - 'Modern Heterosexuality' SINGLE SIDED 12" (At War With False Noise)
What we have here are three tracks of old-style power electronics, reminds me particularly of Sutcliffe Jugend's "When Pornography Is No Longer Enough" album. Very minimal in places, with periods of lull interspersed with piercing explosions, static bursts, and constant weird, heavily processed vocals. Lyrics are very stream-of-consciousness stuff, and the delivery is bang-on, incredibly jarring stuff. Completely at odds with a lot of PE acts around today who tend to go for the muscular beefed-up US-style approach, this is very much more in the old Come Org vein, aesthetically in the musical delivery. Ltd x 300 copies with old school xerox artwork and lyric sheet. Note: Single-sided vinyl.
