"Rauhe Schale" ('Rough Shell') is the brand new album from Austrian legends Allerseelen, which fascinates musically as well as visually. Everything moves and flows in a field of force between industrial, metal, folklore and pop. Lovers of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Einstürzende Neubauten, Laibach or Underworld could also fall in love with Allerseelen. Gerhard Hallstatt sometimes describes his music as Electronic Folklore or Apocalyptic Rock. But basically there is no real description for Allerseelen - all attempts to find an expression for their music may be valid for some time, yet lose their meaning after a couple of months or years. The songs were inspired by various magical mystery tours in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy and Slovenia. Gerhard is assisted here by Dimo Dimov (Svarrogh, Miel Noir, Sturmpercht), Marcel P. "Styx" is the most mainstream work in the Cyclotimia discography. The music is free of their usual experimental and academic explorations; here the emphasis is made on the rhythms. Eleven compositions depict the sickly technogenic reality of the planet wrapped by networks of global capital, media glamour and ideological obsessions. In ancient Greek mythology the Styx was the embodiment of primeval dread and gloom, from which the first living creatures emerged. This was a personification of the underworld river whose pestilent currents seclude life from death. Similarly to this mythic river, currents of credits, percent, funds, financial quotations, capital issues, barrels of oil and advertising spaces flow on the Cyclotimia album to the accompaniment of hard, sterile and atmospheric electronic music. LAIBACH - 'Laibachkunstderfuge BWV 1080' CD (Dallas Records)
This album is the Laibachian interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's work The Art of Fugue (Die Kunst der Fuge). The majority of the material was created in 2006 and performed the same year on 1st June at Bachfest in Leipzig. Since the work is very much based on mathematical algorithms, Laibach decided to use computer and computer program as the key "instrument", providing a very special electronic interpretation and showing that J.S. Bach with his work could as well be understood as the pioneer of electronic, techno, computer music. Digipak.
